Hehe, nice to see an ol' guy staying in the place :)

Maybe it should have an impact in Selänne's and Nieds' decisions, who knows...

I also believe that he will stay on, but it will mean the ducks have to trade someone as they will be over the cap, if he retires, this will be the only reason, i believe he wants to continue, but cant

I'm sure Burke wouldn't mind trading off guys like Marchant (who's making over $2M to center the 4th line) and Bryzgalov to make room for one of the league's top-3 defensemen.

I thought that if a player retired while under contract his salary still had cap implications. Could be wrong, but I'm sure i saw that somewhere.

you might be right, interesting to see who has the truth about that, that will definately affect the cap level :thdn:

I agree it wud probably marchant or bryz to go, bryz has a lot of rumours about himself at the moment, but just waitin for a good deal, not heard much bout marchant, but there are a few salaries the ducks can dump

I think I remember reading something like that, too, around the time of the new CBA. :-k

This would be called a way around the salary cap for Anaheim. Suspend him, bring him back after Xmas. All planned out all summer long.

Jackknife--I believe you are correct. The case here is he is technically not retiring, so not going to camp is a violation of Nieds contract. This means the Ducks suspend him...thus keeping him, without having the cap implications of his whole deal. Suspension will be rescinded in oh....say January...and boom Nieds is back with an even stronger defense than last season.

Shocking...considering Lou was Burke's coach/manager/friend/mentor back in Burkies college days...and ever since.

Oh... What a surprise, Niedermayer is once again undecided, the guy obviously wants to play on, otherwise it would be an easy decision as to whether he wants to continue or not. He really needs to make his choice soon!!! Hes driving me insane!

I heard that if Selanne and Nieds dont retire, the Ducks want them both in the OC, how on earth do they expect to stay under the cap, unless we trade lots of players away? :dunno:

They can only stay under the cap if they are very very close to it. Right now, they with Nieds I believe in real life are at 49 mill or something...so trouble is on the horizon.

And..shocking here...a Vancouver sports radio guy started talking about the connection Nieds has to Vancouver..um what connection? And maybe a deal should be worked out..um...yeah...sure.

Not really. Cranbrook is a long way away from Vancouver. Cranbrook is 528 miles or 849KM from Vancouver.

So in other words...like driving from France to southern greece...well not that far...but a long way.

Briere signing? You mean with the Flyers of course? Just kind of lost on that one jackknife...Is the story that the Habs almost had him?

In Vancouver, Mayson Raymond after ROOKIE CAMP...is being heralded as the next coming of everything fast that can stickhandle, shoot, pass, check and hustle. Unfortunately noone will say he can hit...or we would have the next Mario (Mayson is about 5'7"). Reporters are calling him the next coming of super speed for Vancouver...and that he will be able to score too. Thinking he will play with Nazzy and Mo and make them into the star players they once were...

Ummm...yeah...and so was Jesse Schultz.....Artem Chubarov, Shawn Antoski, Trevor Linden, Petri Skriko, Tony Tanti, Per Olov Brasar, Dale Tallon, Anders Eldebrink...

IN all fairness should remove Linden from that list.

Plus the reporter who said this has not said anything nice about a Canuck or the team since about 1922...and no it was not Tony Gallagoofhead.

Bruins make a minor trade sending Ben Walter to the Islanders for ormer first-round pick, Petteri Nokelainen.

I have always heard great things about Nokelainen!!!
Is he NHL-ready??

Could this be a trade where we actually win??? Guess it depends on what the conditional draft pick is, right??

Well, I liked Walter, but we are too crowded at center...now lets sign Brent Sopel and Iam happy!!!! :-p

The conditional pick is a 2nd. We give it up if he plays something like 90 games total in the next two seasons or more than 50 (or was it 55) in either season with the Bruins. So if he's ready, he plays in Boston and we pay a 2nd. If he's not, we keep him down in Providence. I like that he's younger than Walter. I heard Walter made a lot of progress last season but I don't think he's ever going to be more than an AHLer or maybe a marginal NHLer. Nokelainen has more upside.

Glen Metropolit was invited to Bruins camp. They're looking at him as a possible fit on their checking line.
