Right now...any of my players from the CAnadian Olympic Team (Richards, Iginla, Marleau, Luongo, Morrow) could be GONE. They are all causing me to likely lose in the final. BTW--SHarks in the playoffs..>SUCKAGE.

4-2-6 with two nights to go, this really can go either way. Batdad has the advantage in player starts remaining with four skaters and one goalie spot more than me. I only have one player playing tomorrow so it could end tonight but if I'm still in the lead, tomorrow will be a nail biter.

*As the game clock hits 0:00, the home crowd in Burnaby is buzzing with devastation at what they've witnessed. Tears are flowing, and shouts of anger are thrown. But on the ice surface, gloves and sticks are flung into the air, as 6 of Marsac's Newbies leap from the ice in near unison. A pile of players grows as the Newbies bench instantly empties and heads for their teammates.

Coaches rush to congratulate fellow coaches, then head to congratulate the opposing staff; Media rushes from the Zamboni tunnels to fill the ice surface and get their front-page shots; red carpets are rolled out in the background; The Black Ice players can only kneel around their bench and watch what is unfolding at the other end of the ice. Some in tears at what they've lost, while others realize they could have done better.*

*Echoing from the PA system: "Ladies and gentleman, the Minstrel Memorial Cup!"... as Commissioner Brian Stinson, donning the usual white gloves, enters the ice surface with the our Cup, making his way to center ice via a red carpet. The home crowd, still upset at what has happened to their team, can't help but cheer for the Cup's appearance.*

*Commissioner Stinson stands at center; The Newbies gathered as a team nearby, anxious to finally get their hands on the Cup; The commissioner waits for a break in the noise, and then gets it as the crowd quiets for the presentation...*

"First, I would like to congratulate the Burnaby players on an outstanding season. Graham Black Ice has proven to be the ideal fantasy hockey manager, building a 20-and-2 team with unparalleled commitment.

But now, congratulations to our 2010 Minstrel Memorial Cup champions: Marsac's Newbies!! They had a fine season, and an even better playoff run, working their way up from the seventh seed. Niclas Sundmark, come get your Minstrel Cup!!"

*Confetti, balloons, and streamers rain down from the rafters; Mr. Sundmark, proud and smiling from ear to ear, makes his way to the commissioner; Upon arrival he quickly pauses for a picture with the commissioner and the Cup, before finally taking it for it's rounds on the ice with each player.*

Awesome! I sure didn't expect this at the start of the season, or going into the playoffs. Thanks for an enjoyable season everyone!

I made so many mistakes right from the draft table, to giving up on players much too soon, to not giving up on players soon enough, to questionable trades. What won me the cup in the end was more so than anything the timely addition of free agents who produced beyond everyone's expectations. That's going to be alot harder to do next year with the expanded rosters so it will be a different playing field for sure and I'll need to improve on my weak points to compete. I'm looking foward to it!

Interesting to see a team who went 10-12-0 in the regular season win the whole thing!

Congrats, Marsac! =D>

That's an impressive win. It just goes to show you that the regular season doesn't matter so much as long as you get hot in the playoffs.

In the bowels of the Boston Pizza Black Ice Arena, a press conference is held

At the microphone, a seriously angry and disturbed looking man...his name..>Graham Black Ice. His title Owner, President, CEO, GM and coach of the Burnaby Black Ice, the dominant force of the TBL Keeper Hockey League"

In attendance, every single reporter from around the league. Not in attendance: Brian Stinson, commissioner of the TBLKHL. Hmm....

"Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen of the media. I have a few words to say.

First off Congratulations to the Newbies...clearly a well run franchise. THere is nothing I or anyone can say that will ease this defeat for me, but man did the Newbies perform well. Who the heck is that goalie? Jar-o-slav...Hellak? What how do you say it? What? Halak? Halakalakalaka? Wow...what a standout performance. I saw him briefly in a game earlier in the season and he was downright horrible. Even the Phaneuf is Enough sieve Carey Price played better against me. Hmm...."

What a performance by the Newbies, acquiring a guy like Karlsson..a kid out there. He was horrible during much of the seaosn and for one week turned into Bobby Orr. Between Karlsson and the two Montreal kids Plekanec and Halak...my team stood no chance. None whatsoever. I mean who in their right mind would think Halak, Plekanec and Karlsson could beat up on Luongo, Lidstrom, and Marleau? But they did..and they deserve every piece of congratulations cake they can eat. Hopefully...they eat alot and come back looking like Wellwood, Tkachuk and O'Brien. Well done boys. Well done.

All of this being said, I am EXTREMELY disappointed in my squad .Guys who were our leaders all season: Marleau, Iginla, Luongo, Richards...HAVE to be better than they were in this final game. We got decent performances from guys like Rob Blake and Rene Bourque...even Brendan Morrow. But our leaders, were not our best players. And you have to have that to win in todays TBLKHL. The boys know how I feel. They do...they are just as upset as I am. Marleau in particular. He is devastated. He really wanted to show he could step up in the playoffs. But just could not manage.

Finally, I have heard the rumours about the BIG shake up to come in the Black Ice squad. People are saying Marleau, Richards and IGinla are all on the block. This is not the case. None of these three guys are going anywhere. I know there will be some big names available in the draft....and of course a pick or two would be nice. But these guys are the core of my team. They are OLYMPIC CHAMPIONS. All 3 of them together with Morrow, and Luongo had a tough few weeks after winning gold, but next season they have all vowed to come back and play to my expecations. it is too bad....we set attendance records, we destroyed every opponent we faced at least once, save one bad week when we lost to a team that barely made the playoffs. Then....the last, most important game comes up and we have nothing left in the tank. Bad bad bad. But I Stress...Marleau, Richards and Iginla are remaining with this team. Noone should even bother asking.

THanks again all for coming out, and congrats again to the Newbies. Any questions?

Yes..pepperhead in the back, what do you want to know?......OK...well Mr Stinson I am sure is a busy man, and a happy man that my team did not perform to well this week. He is looking for parity in this league and to have a team steamroll everyone is a tough thing to watch. He must be happy that the team from some little town called Marsac, in the middle of nowhere managed to defeat the all star team from Burnaby. I did not expect him to be here...no way no how. But it would have been nice. I mean what kind of a league has its commissioner run a team in the league? Oh yeah..right the THLKHL and the NHL...of course...forgot about that. Hmm....

Also, what kind of a league has its trophy presented and won before the final games are played? Hmm...suppose I cannot blame Commissioner Stinson for that. Just part of the overseers at ESPN...why is everything designed for TV? Who cares if your final game is played on a Sunday or a Thursday? Well..apparently ESPN. Someone should move our rights from them...Maybe Versus has a better offer? Sheesh.

Now I see MR Stinson has opened up the trade market again. So....time to get out and try and make my team a little better for next season....oh okay one more question..

"Did I make any mistakes this season as a GM?......easy answer to that one....GO F*** yourself. No I Did not...the only mistakes out there were made by that moron Iginla and that weenie Marleau....Bite me. Those two can go stuff themselves. Useless bloody Sharks and FLemmes. Argh....."

ANother question:

What about Luongo and Lidstrom? Will they be back next season as members of the Black Ice? ...

Of course they will. As long as Nick decides to play he will remain with the ICE. There is no better dman out there. I know he is getting long in the tooth. But who showed up the final couple of weeks of the season? NIck. No way he goes anywhere. Thanks for asking..

Yell from the back: "Um...sir...you did not comment on ROberto"

No I did not...sorry about that. oOberto gave us over 30 wins. He singlehandedly won us about 10 games this season. He is the backbone of our team. He won Olympic Gold proving he can win the big game...yeah he had a slip up. But I cannot judge anyone on this team that won gold at this point. No way. It must have been hard to come back and play with some of that rubbish like Raffi Torres, Jussi Jokeinnen, Scott Hartnell and Peter Regin. Blech. Feel bad for Roberto. Tough luck. he will be back and he will be the man between our pipes. Yes Niemi and Quick put up some stellar performances for us but they were young and ROberto is the man. SOrry for missing that the first time.

Once again, thank you to all. IT has been a great season. Congratulations to the Newbies, and to those who managed to avoid relegation. I look forward to having my boys hammer you again next season. I look forward to seeing you all at the awards ceremonies.

I know, it's kind of sad isn't it? - relegated from my own league  .

That does bring up an issue again, though: inactive teams. Currently we have three teams who, based on their level of activity, can safely be deemed inactive. One of those teams has avoided relegation, but has had their manager M.I.A. since November 27th; Missing from both their team and all league discussion here at TBL.

So the question ends up being: should inactive teams be stripped of their relegation league performances, and relegated due to high inactivity? Or should we finish this year under the current standard, and begin the penalizing next year?

I say kick em! If they haven't been around here either since the fall I think it's safe to day they no longer care/have better things to do. There are others waiting for promotion to the main league who would be active participants.

Yeah me too. There's nothing more annoying than having people inactive...

Also, in your awards. Your stats appear to be wrong. In my standings. I have it as...

1) Phaneuf is Enough = +100
2) Lake Alajarvi Bald Uakaris = +69
3) Corinthians Red Army = +61

Any inactive team that was flukey enough not to be in the bottom three should be forced to the bottom three and given a ROYAL boot. Right ....out....the...door.

And Getz--The stats that Stinson posted likely reflect only the regular season as they should. The ones on the ESPN site now include the playoffs as well. The trophies are for regular season totals, not regular season and playoffs. At least I think so.

Are you looking at the current 'Season Stats' table on the ESPN 'Standings' page? If so, those stats include the playoffs. We're only counting regular season for our awards.

Also, it appears batdad is right in that trading is open again for the off-season... which is cool beans. I didn't think they would recognize an off-season. So have at it! - You're all free to go make some trades if you want.

Can we trade draft picks? And if so, how do we do it?
Perhaps like this:
Let's say I trade one of my guys to another team for a 2nd rounder. Then he'd trade one of his guys for my last pick, as I would have a full roster after the added 2nd rounder. I send the player he wants to his team for a player he does not want to keep, that I then will drop. The draft picks are agreed upon here in this thread so everyone sees it and then we trade the drafted players after the draft. You guys follow me?

I've set my keepers, so everyone else could be had(if draft picks/future considerations can be traded)

How do we view each others keepers. After selecting mine, my players have "K"s next to their name in the roster screen and there is a page for league keepers. I can only view my own though...

My Keepers so far...

Kopitar
Parise
Pronger
Howard

Which means Martin St. Louis or Phil Kessel could be had... :-D

I don't think we can. I set mine as untouchable on the trade block, though
