Set their status as not needed, put them on the block, if that's not enough then you discipline and fine them.TheEpicOne258 wrote:I can't trade some of the players because of no-trade clauses.

I'm assuming the rules in this case are all trades must be for picks in the next draft- for example if I trade Lack in July '16 then it would be for a pick in the 2017 draft? Teams want him, but in June they're afraid he'll "unbalance their roster" (Got that response as high as 2nd round picks...)

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
So I'm going into my 4th season.
I decided to do a little cleaning in the roster and got rid of Ortio, Stanton, Sbisa, Vey, Conacher and Weber. Got Heatherington from Detroit.
I think we have really strong team right now and I like those guys.
Demko - Markstrom
Heatherington - Lindgren
Rielly - Tanev
Erixon - Kylington
Tommernes
Bartschi - McDavid - Mantha (beast line)
Pulkkinen - Kadri - Jensen
Jones - Sheahan - Kovacs
Shinkaruk - Acton - McMillan
+ Virtanen, McCann, Kenins
Jones was my 8th pick in 2016. I wanted to go for D but all my scouts recommended him. Now I understand why. He jumped 3-5 attribute points in a year. It'll be his rookie season.
Kovacs is from the first draft. Good guy. 18-25-43 last season in 65 games.
This team is great and stacked. These guys could win for years and years.
So I'll try to experiment with tactics a bit this season. And try to understand what beats what.

Yeah, that's correct. Any time you trade for draft picks it must be for the next draft.Asher413 wrote:I'm assuming the rules in this case are all trades must be for picks in the next draft- for example if I trade Lack in July '16 then it would be for a pick in the 2017 draft? Currently on a 5 game losing streak and I've only managed to score 4 goals in my last 4 games. Sucks. On the bright side though, I'm still sitting in a playoff spot.

I'm in playoffs season 3 now, went in as #2 seed playing against Avs right now, won the first game 3-0, Demko is a beast
Edit: Beat them 4-1, final score in the 5th game was 8-1

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
So while it was a good long term move to trade Bonino, it's definitely left me struggling to find some stability at center. That is going to be my #1 objective in the offseason. Bonino is doing pretty well since moving to the Kings. He's got 12 points in 14 games. As for the guys I got back in return... Leslie isn't close to NHL ready. He's down in the AHL. He's purely an offensive defenseman and I don't know if he'll ever be good enough to make it in the NHL. Tanner Pearson has been excellent since joining our team. He's 7G 10A in 17 games with a +1 and a 7.35 average rating. More importantly, 8 of his points have come on the power play. I've had the worst PP I've ever had with this team, so Pearson is a step in the right direction. Weal has struggled. I've juggled him between the bottom 3 lines and have gotten him to work out for me. He's got 4A, a -3, 10 PIM, and a 6.00 average rating in 17 games.
My struggle with centers hasn't been restricted to just Weal. Burmistrov hasn't been able to put together much good play in his chances on the 2nd line and PP. So far, Tierney has had the best results and even those haven't been the greatest. Tierney seems to play one really good game, then have a few bad ones, then another really good game, and then some bad again. I did get a 3 point night out of him once though. He's out with a minor injury right now but once he's back, I think I'm going to have to go with him in that 2nd line and PP spot.
My pleasant surprise has been Scott Savage. On paper, he's got a lot of weaknesses but he's been doing pretty well for me. In 30 games since joining our club, he's got 1G 21A +1 6 PIM, and a 7.17 average rating. He's a solid passer and I guess that 20 in positioning really helps make him effective.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
Cool that Savage is working out for you, he has some funky attributes
You are not the only one having troubles down the middle though, Bjugstad gets worse every season for me, he only managed 32 points this season. He didn't play on my PP though so that explains some of it but i still expect more then 32 points from the C on my best line, he did lead the team with +42 +/- though so i don't really know what to do with him. Bonino is really solid for me, 6.70-7 AvR and around 15+35 along with solid PKing for me, i'm happy with that.
Edit: Got Ducks in the 2nd round of playoffs, time for some revenge, they crushed me last season.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
I am wagering on having some C problems in year three. But Bonino just does not do enough for me. I am through first round of playoffs in year 2. Took care of the Blues easily, and now up 2-0 on the Ducks as well.
Linden Vey continues to perform for me in the playoffs. I dunno why he does so well for me and not for anyone else. I saw one guy had him at 30 goals but not many have really pushed him. He has done so many great things and got the team going, and scored so many big goals (or set em up)
My team scored 295 goals in year 2. Think that is the most I have ever had in a challenge. And...what is odd about it? Jensen scored 38 and was my top scorer. Vey and Bartschi had 27, Nelson 21 Scheifele 20 and Shinkaruk 19. BOnino and Morin both had 18. Conacher, Kassian Rakell 15. Jacob Trouba led the dmen with 10.
Twelve guys with 10 or more goals. 11 with 15 or more. Not bad.

Yeah, i don't know how Vey is good for you, i never tried giving him more ice-time though because my 4 top wingers have been great since season 1. I just couldn't motivate giving Vey more ice-time over any of them and he did NOTHING on my bottom-6.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
So I might be rushing him but I've finally become too frustrated with my goaltending. I've brought up Demko. I'm currently carrying 3 goalies on my roster. I'm not sure who I want as my backup and I'm also not looking to lose Eriksson or Markstrom on waivers. I could trade one next season. Demko has played 4 games since being called up, winning 3 and losing 1.
Burmistrov seems to be finding a spot for himself on the 3rd line. He's clicking with Kreider and Jensen on this line. They've been pretty productive for a third line over the last handful of games. Tierney is still so-so on the 2nd line. I might try Weal out there again at some point.

Argh! Savage just went down for 3 weeks! I'm in my final quarter of season 2 and really could've used him for a run at getting into the playoffs.

So after a slump and 4 losses in a row I think Batdad blessed my team and they managed to get 8 wins and conceded only 5 goals.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
Nice! Keep it going!
I've got 75 games played in season 2. Only 7 games left to go. I'm currently in 9th place with 79 points. The Wild also have 79 points but I have 1 more win. Nashville is in 8th place with 84 points and they've played 76 games. I need them to hit a slump and my team needs to go on a run. I'd really like to make the playoffs!

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
Results have been consistent for how many years? I play this game way differently than many of you. Lots of risk taking defensively out there. I do not do it. AT ALL.
And if you notice...I Do not score nearly as much as many of the guys. Defense wins championships and I figured some things out about this game a long long time ago. Cheating is not needed.
Just finished up the Stanley Cup for 2016. Took out Blues in 4, Ducks in 5, Wild in 5, Pens in 5. Had to match up (Shadow) Sid the Kid to get it done, he was doing some great stuff out there, and after losing to them in 3...game 4 and 5 he got NOTHING done.
Games 1-2 he had 7 shots, no points (both shutout wins for me)
Game 3 he had 9 shots and two assists.
Game 4 (startd checking him in p3) he had 1 goal and 9 shots. Malkin playing on his wing had 7 shots and an assist. Third period? NOTHING.
Game 5--checked him with my C whole game (all 4 C were marked to check him) and he had 0 shots and was -2.
Playoff performances of note.
Morin led team with 7 goals.
Jensen had 6 and led team with 16 points in 19 games.
Vey-2-7-9 5th on team in scoring.
Shinkaruk was not as good in playoffs, only scoring 2-6-8 but both goals were game winners ,and 2 of his assists on game winners.
The biggest surprise?
Tommerenes. Guy got in 2 regular season games due to injury to Weber and suspension to Stanton. Started the playoffs with me because of this and until game 5 of Stanley Cup Final i could not take him out of lineup.
His stats? 18 games played, led my d in points in playoffs 1-8-9. plus 16 in 18 games. Led entire team save for Markstrom in AvR at 7.56.
Stanton is so gone, as Henrik is becoming a super swede. Dillon may go too as underager.

Hey, my team score less than yours! I seems to be one of the more defensive guys too considering the reported stats out there. Our PP is deadly, the bad thing is that my team gets the least PP time in the league.

I've read a bunch of comments on how good this team is in SOs, I suck as much as usual. Currently we are 4-8 on OT/SO with most of the wins being in OT and not SO. What am I doing wrong?

So we've qualified for the playoffs, managing to land the 8th seed. We've drawn the league leading Ducks in the first round. I'm not holding my breath for much of a run. I'm just happy we managed to make it. Also, in the last game of the season we lost both Bartschi and Sbisa for 10 days due to injuries. So it looks like we'll be seeing Conacher and Clendenning back out on the ice for a little.
