Re: Challenge Questions & Feedback Thread
I just want clarification before a do something which would get me in trouble.
I know I can't trade players' rights but can I trade a player I have sent back the the CHL? Particularly I want to trade Adam Erne and his is signed to Tampa but is playing for his CHL club.
Thanks.

Yes as long as they are under contract to you. I believe Erne starts the game under contract to the Lightning does he not? I know sometimes the wording in game though can say "rights" even if you have them signed but they are playing for the CHL team.

Yeah I traded him in my game too (althought it didn't say "rights" at the time). THe rights thing is mainly due to the fact that unsigned prospects are valued SUPER high (wish there was a way to re-code that).

Re: Challenge Questions & Feedback Thread
Anyone thought of developing an alternate trade option that follows the current limitations (age, pick #, etc.) to allow for a package deal?
The AI goes nuts around trade deadline swapping guys between teams (there are some crazy stacked teams in my game right now), and they seem to enjoy getting on my nerves by trying to swap horrible players with me for top prospects. It seems like it might make the challenges a little more interesting if we could work up 1 trade per season swapping a combination of the two trades currently allowed; I guess similar to the UFA signing options where you can go with the different tiers. Just an idea. Though I do like the UFA system as of now, even though I get bummed when guys like Datsyuk come up as UFAs the season before and after we are allowed to make a $5M signing.

Such packages would make it too easy to acquire good players.
It is called challenge for a reason, lol

lol, I know, and to make sure we don't take advantage of the AI, but it does a pretty good job of taking advantage of itself, lol.

Yeah, the AI truly knows the meaning of "fire sale" when a team is bad.mrballar wrote:lol, I know, and to make sure we don't take advantage of the AI, but it does a pretty good job of taking advantage of itself, lol.

That is why I tried waiting to my trades for once. The teams at the bottom of standings clearly value young players more than teams higher up in the standings do allowing you to trade your young guys you might not need for the challenge.

I think a lot of it will depend on what database is available at the time.

Re: Challenge Questions & Feedback Thread
Click on the top menu bar where it says "TBL Challenge". This brings you to the challenge center. On the upper left you should see the challenge rules. Section 2 is what you're really going to want to look at.

Re: Challenge Questions & Feedback Thread
I play the Mac version of the EHM'07. If and when the starting save is made with Win version is it so that I'm not able to attend the Challenge? Or is there a way to get a Mac version to read a Win save?

The rules are not that hard to find. Just click the header named TBL Challenge and you find them on your left side

Been awhile since I played. Looking at rules and no screenshots at 20 games anymore? Just end of season? Want to be sure.

Yeah, the old 20 games screenshots were when we did the "Core" thing, IIRC. Also, I don't know if you've played since Archi setup the page where you can enter your stats directly into a form. It's a much easier process now.

I suppose the silence means that there's no way I can take part to this Challenge. I hope the next Challenge is a one that is for all and not only Win-bound attenderskuulapaa wrote:I play the Mac version of the EHM'07. I think B72 just missed this. I actually do not know if db is somehow convertible to Mac. Maybe if you pm archi, as I am pretty sure he does not look in here all that often.

Re: Challenge Questions & Feedback Thread
We had spoken via PM and I suggested he post here asking if anyone knew. I didn't have an answer. I didn't know that the saves were different between Mac and PC. I've also PMed Riz asking about it but haven't heard back.

Re: Challenge Questions & Feedback Thread
FOr future thought:
THe salary cap in the game is way to high in the Bruins challenge. I know it is set like real life in the 6.1 rosters and that is good sort of.
However...the game does not escalate financially the way things are done in real life. This leaves teams way way under the cap, and in fact in my game (and I assume most) their are way over 50% of the teams under the salary floor. The ones that are over the floor are few and far between and have 13-15 million in space for the most part. One team had 4 mill, one team had 5 mill type thing in year 2.
THis renders the ability to trade a draft pick for a player almost useless. No one under the cap floor will do it, as it puts them further below the cap floor and in more financial fining situations. The other teams that are with 13-15 mill in room have no reason to do it.
So....I would suggest for the future.
1. Allowing EHM life salary caps, not real life in the game. Maybe have to change the EHM rosters before issuing a challenge database.
2. Option 2 would be player for player trade #2 in the season, maybe can only trade a young player for one over 30 or trade a 30 year old for one under 24, that is under contract etc.
This is not a BIG issue, but is an issue to me just the same. I had offers out there using my 2nd round pick that would normally be jumped at (2nd rounder for 3 star guys) but would not be taken because of the finances.
