I've put my Stars game on hold for a while. I've started a new one with Hamilton Bulldogs. That silly Bob Gainey didn't signed Grabovski  so i'm a bit weak on the left side until Bingo Bob traded Andre Benoit for Pushkarev dude or something like this. At least I have Mark Streit on the blue line ;)

Max Lapierre is my captain, go on dude, in real life your in the big league now :-p

A surprise player is Lane Manson, a ECHL guy I signed up for 10K to fill the hole Gainey did by removing team captain Benoit. He's solid defensively and just given Wade Belak the beating of his life ;) So I keep him dressed :-D

After 30 games or so i'm 2nd in my division. I signed two former Habs as staff member: Guy Lafleur as AGM and Brian Hayward as scout. John Vanbiesbrouck is my goalie coach =D>

I'm doing this game for fun, so I made mostly sentimental choicea over rational onea, so Mark Tobin is a Bulldogs!!!

Yep, and Nordquist is doing a great job, dominates pk, +19 with limited icetime, had him on the second line for a while though (Handzus on IR). He doesn´t score many goals but is a two way center and setup man (if he is having a sniper on one of the wings).

The season 08-09, still a bit early for Toews centering the first line but I signed him for the 07-08 and let him split time between secondline leftwing and Norfolk (something that I thought was a bit strange I didn´t think you could send a 19 year old player that was under CHL rights, Tri-City still had his rights. Has it something to do with the fact that he came from college.) Horton and Havlat is carrying the line.

I did let Crawford start for a couple of games already in 06, he did well. During 07-08 he was the backup and got to start 20-25 games and was ok. Let me point out that my team is focused on offense so his gaa isn´t the best. But % is .903 wich is ok.

I don´t have to say that I like prospects.

Now I´m thinking of doing an update to the db. And add the highest ranked -91 & -92 prospects for the upcoming chl drafts in 2007 that are missing in the db. Already obtained info from ISS. So maybe I´ll end my game in 2009.

Yes, players coming right out of college can be sent down.

My Canadiens have made their successful return to the Stanley Cup Finals against the Detroit Red Wings in a glorious Original Six matchup.

My team has had a 12-3 record so far in the playoffs, including a first round sweep of the Islanders. I like to think I had a pretty good trade deadline, both for the playoff drive and for next season. Ben Maxwell and Angelo Esposito have been inconsistent offensively, so I decided to return them to the AHL at seperate points of the season. To compensate for the depth, and to offset the pending loss of Marian Hossa to free agency (career year and he doesn't want to negotiate a new contract), I picked up four players at the deadline. Eric Fehr and Steve Downie are in the top 40 in points, which will both compliment and replace Hossa. Alexei Ponikarovsky didn't match his output from before I acquired him, though he has shown some spots of brilliance. Karel Rachunek was also picked up to bolster the depth on the backend.

The Cup Final starts..... now!

Stupid Eric Johnson won't sign with my St.Louis Blues...He wants to be a core player on the team and I don't think he's ready for that at this point. He refuses to sign at anything less. I guess I'll just have to leave him in college for now, sign him later as a core player and just switch his status.

Recently started a new career with the newest patch, hasn't gone too well so far. My first year with the Rangers was pretty bad, I thought I was gonna get fired but they managed to turn it on after the trade deadline and squeaked into the 8th spot. They were bounced easily by the Sabres but at least I kept my job. The farm club Wolfpack won the Calder Cup though so the future looks pretty bright. I let a lot of players go in the off season and concentrated on shoring up the defense. The lineup is now:

Prucha-Nylander-Jagr
Dawes-Drury(UFA)-Ryder(for Sanguinetti+pick)
N. Parrish-Cullen-D. Brown(signed as RFA)
Hollweg-Marchant-Ortmeyer

extras: Betts, Hossa, Rachunek

Brewer(UFA)-Sarich(UFA)
Tyutin-Roszival
Vanaanen(Malik)-Varlamov(FA)

Lundqvist
Weekes

The team was about .500 through mid November, not for a lack of effort but they lacked secondary scoring desperately. I traded for Ryder and moved Dustin Brown down a spot and since they put a decent winning streak together, hopefully will do even better when chemistry can develop. There are also good players waiting in the wings with Ville Leino, Jaroslav Dusek, Jarkko Immonen, Tomas Fleischmann, Mikko Lehtonen, Hugh Jessiman, Marc Staal, and Al Montoya playing for the Wolfpack among others. I drafted some good Russian players but next years draft looks exceptionally weak top to bottom, I'll probably trade and stockpile picks for later drafts.

I've kind of put my Bruins blog team on the backburner for a bit. I wanted to try something different so I started a new career as the GM of the Vancouver Giants of the WHL. I made the playoffs in the first season but didn't get far. Then I came back the next season and did really well. Towards the end of that second season, I applied for a bunch of job openings. I got passed over for a couple of NHL jobs. Then I got the job of GM for the Worcester Sharks (the San Jose Sharks AHL affiliate). They were pretty much out of the playoffs when I took over but I was able to pull them out of the bottom spot in the conference and move them up one or two. I made a couple UFA signings in the off-season and got some good players sent down from the big club (unfortunately, they kept Kaspar after recalling him for the last season's playoffs). I've been doing well in this season, I've been battling for 1st place in the conference, sometimes I have it, sometimes I'm 2nd. I've applied for a couple of NHL jobs, in hopes of making another jump up, but keep getting passed over. The stupid thing is, teams keep hiring the same GMs. Toronto for example, they fired Ferguson and hired him back towards the end of the next season when they fired his replacement. That's just stupid! I also had Patrick Jarrett signed away from me by an NHL club. I didn't know this was possible because he did NOT have an NHL release clause. Shouldn't he have had to play out his contract with me? And now they've assigned him to their own AHL affiliate! Anyhow, right now I'm watching the Coyotes (their current GM's job has been floating at various states of insecure for much of the season) and the Wild (just recently looking slightly insecure). Anyhow, I've never started a career anywhere other than the NHL. I'm finding this to be such a different experience and I really like it. Plus, by the time I make it to the NHL the teams will be so much different than where I usually start. It'll be a fresh take on things. I'm really loving this!

I decided to play a WHL team as well, I am in my first season as Tri-City. I read that Olaf Kolzig is one of the owners, and I think Stu Barnes is as well.

The only trading I did was to get under the 50 player reserve list.

I'll keep everyone posted...

Yeah Kolzig and Barnes maintain family residences in Tri Cities area. Kennewick, and 2 other hellishly dull places my wife once had to work. A church on every corner kind of place. All towns intersected by a highway. Mebbe a river. I dunno.

I forgot to followup that I swept Detroit for the Cup. Of course, instead of keeping the DB to return to later (I was anxious to get in on the new patch and do a Euro league) I deleted it and started fresh.

I'm still playing as the GM of the San Jose affiliate, the Worcester Sharks. I'm about a month into my second full season with the team (I took over at the end of a season, then played a full season, won the Calder Cup, and now I'm starting another season). San Jose took some of my best players from the season before. They took Mink, Murray, Vlasic, Neal, and Van D... I forget how to spell his name, he's the kid from the 2007 draft. Mink was my best player the previous season. He won a bunch of awards, thanking me every time. Murray was also in the running for best AHL defenseman. The thing that gets me mad is that they're not even using Murray. He's riding the pine! Mink gets used a little. I could be killing with them! Oh, they returned Van D after the first few weeks. He's only 19 or 20, so he really needs the playing time. Neal would be killing on my team. He's doing okay in San Jose though.

I applied for several NHL jobs over the last season and always got passed up for the same old guys that get fired in the same season. Hmmm... if these guys aren't working out in these other places, maybe it's time to try someone with a fresh take on things? These NHL GMs have really butchered teams. The Bruins keep trading away players for lesser players, because of financial reasons I think. And even though they're doing poorly, I saw them playing Marc Savard as the 4th line left wing at one point! Now he's playing in Providence! But they've got borderline AHLers getting the icetime in Boston! The Sharks lost both Thornton and Marleau. Marleau is on the Devils (IIRC) and Thornton is with the Rangers. They've also lost Hannan and McLaren. Of course, they kept both highly paid goaltenders... because that makes sense! I've seen strange things with other clubs too. I saw Satan playing in the AHL! Teams are offering way too much money to players and then they see their payrolls too high and they waive them to send them to the minors. The league is really screwed up right now! Anyhow, I'm hoping to make my way into the NHL soon and really get one team back on track. So far, no jobs are available or even insecure. It should happen soon though and I'm ranked #55 among GM's.

A certain Krister Stromqvist and his assistant is Finn Miika Numminen.
His attributes are really great, on the teams summary, every team got 2-3 stars for HC, me, 5 stars!! ;)

I am with de Victoriaville Tigres in the QHJML and i am at my third season... First season i finished 5th, i got kicked out of the playoff in the second round. Second season 8th, got kicked out playoff in the first round and now at my third i am first in the QHJML and first in the CHL...

My stars player:

Jonathan Toews*
Ryan McDonough*
Derek Groleau*

By the way i didn't cheat at all... I saw Toes and McDonough in the "Q" free agent and i jump on them... I am burning the league with my goalies:

1st: Jonathan Roy
2nd: Kevin Poulin

Those two are some picks i got and they are both ranked first and second best goalie of the "Q" at the begining of the season...

I really like the new patch!

I was able to win the Stanley Cup with the Panthers in my first season with the following roster:

Olesz-Marleau-Bertuzzi
Weiss-Stumpel-Horton
Grabovsky-Ruchin-Roberts
Gratton-Primeau-Ruutu

Hannan-Bouwmeester
Souray-Jurcina
Suter-Weber

Biron
Auld

At the deadline I solidified the the goaltending by adding Biron who had an outstanding playoffs. I traded away underachieving Salei and Van Ryn just because his morale was always low despite being plus 22 with 27 points in 50 games. Stewart got traded for Suter and Weber which was an amazing steal for me. Ruchin and Jurcina were the other additions. My roster after the offseason is starting to shape up. Stumpel left because i wouldn't give him 4 million a year. Roberts was too old so I let him go. Gratton was traded away because his salary is too high for his level of ability. Weiss will probably be traded away as well just because I think I'm getting Derek Roy for a 3rd rounder and Weiss can bring in a first rounder, basically me moving up 2 rounds in the draft and acquiring a better player. Jurcina was traded away as well because I was able to sign Salo, a good top 4 dman for only 1.2 million per year for 2 years. The roster will probably shape up something like this (2nd year now)...

Olesz-Marleau-Bertuzzi
Kariya-Lindros/Roy-Horton
Grabovsky/Roy-Ruchin-Grabovsky/Lindros
Nilson-Walz-Ruutu

Hannan-Bouwmeester
Souray-Weber (needs to be placed with someone with good influence)
Suter-Salo

Biron
Auld

Any thoughts on where Roy/Lindros should be placed?

OK, so now I'm playing a 3.04 game as the Minnesota Wild. When I go home, I'll do the 2010 entry draft.

And without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, here are the 2010 Stanley Cup champions, your Minnesota Wild:

Demitra - Thornton(C) - Gaborik
Pouliot - Mueller - Ryan
Marjamäki - Hagos - Stewart(A)
Dingman/Hollweg - Gaustad - Ortmeyer

Kulyash - Hannan(A)
Väänänen - Wilson
Smaby/Maunu - Tulupov

Niittymäki/Ouellet

Thornton has now played two seasons for me, winning the Art Ross on both years (by a 10+ point margin in 2009, but only a single point ahead of Ovechkin who potted 64 goals). Gaborik won the Richards in 2009 and the Conn Smythe in 2010, Wilson and Kulyash are both Calder winners (and Tulupov finished 3rd in the voting in 2010, which is pretty darn good for a defensive defenseman), and Nitty was finally healthy for an entire season in 2010 and won the Vezina.

The team spent the entire season within $700,000 of the salary cap, and I had to throw away Mike Van Ryn for picks to even play the season opener. Demitra's contract is up, and I'd really like to keep him for one more season so he could go over the 1000 point mark as a Wildman (he has about 980 now). He'd have to agree to a fairly sizable cut to his $5,25 million salary for that, and I doubt it's going to happen. I'll probably try to work out a way to replace him with the 2010 AHL rookie of the year, Sam Gagner.

3 cups (and 4 president trophies) in the last 4 years (I am in 2010)

My team:

Ovechkin - E.Staal - Bobby Ryan
Semin - Malkin - Cheechoo
Sean Collins - Mike Richards - Nick Parrish
Adam Henrich - Blaire Betts - Kirk Maltby

L. Smid - Morris
Vaananen - Van Ryn
Ray Flynn - Ryan Wilson

Niitymaki (62 wins last season)
Harding

Former Greats in my team: Samsonov, Gionta, Sedin Twins, Trent Hunter, John Madden, Paul Martin, Shaonne Morrison, Brad Stuart, Robyn Regehr, John Grahame, Dominik Hasek, Steve konowalchuk

Also on roster: Patrick Sharp, Nathan Martine, David Scneider, Mikhail Grabovski, Keven Guerette Charland, Nick Foligno.

Un signed prospects: John Tavares, Tobias Antons (Kolzig regen), couple of 1-2 potential D-men, 3 1-st line potential forwards.

Finished last season with 135 points en route for a repeat. All that with a french coach and a swedish assistant GM. I am around $2millions under the cap.

I'm muskegon Fury in UHL won regular season championship. Got to the play off final and lost in game 7. But it totally sucked as even though I was top ranked team i had to play 4 of 7 games in each round away and on the morning of game 7 half my team left as apparantly their contracts ran out so very gutted. posted it in bugs in SI forum.
Basically trying to give myself a challenge in north america try to win each level then get a job in a higher league. technically then i guess I gotta keep going till I win play offs with fury but that bug is worrying if it happens again.
