Yeah, you can see consistency for the regen but not the original player.

I'm guessing that the Hasek regen hasn't appeared yet. Isn't there like a year between the player retiring and the regen appearing? Let's see... hmmm... Hasek's last according to the Hall of Fame page was 07-08. We're now heading into the 09-10 season. That means his regen is probably already floating around out there. Right?

2 years in general for Euros, 4 for Namericans.

I have Hasek regen eligible for my next draft, already #1 ranked. So that would be 2010 draft. I think he quite often shows up there.

Hmmm... okay. I'll keep an eye out. Thanks!

I drafted a Swedish center at the end (#30 overall) of the 1st round that is interesting. He's described as a poor man's Mats Sundin with a smaller frame. He needs to work on his skating but his skills already look good. He's got horrible (1) leadership and workrate (6) but other than that he looks okay. I know he's a regen because of the mental characteristics in his scouting report. He's ambitious and a realist but he's got poor self-confidence. He's not the type of player I'd take normally but I figure there's not harm in taking risks in the draft at this point in the challenge. How many of them will actually play for the team during that time?

Uggh! I really have a bunch of blogging to do on this...

mmmmm....donuts...But the work it takes to get it to the mouth,....it is sooooo hard. I think mimimum for donut eating you need a 7 work rate.

darn! Batdad, how did you have Hossa scoring 44 goals in 40 games? :-o And i see many others who have their top goalscorer reaching 50 goals and/or 100 points at the 60 games mark, when i can barely do that in 82! Do your physios give them some illegal medecine or what?

Heh. To tell the truth I have no idea how. I have not changed the way I play or anything (as you can tell from the pp that seems to be tanking yet again) But Hossa has just gone nutso for me.

Normally, I wouldn't either but this guy was great otherwise. I figured he was worth the risk, especially since I had already gotten Tavares (and another guy, IIRC) in the first round. I wasn't too impressed with the rest of the draft.

It's not being late blogging that bothers me. It's the need to blog holding up my playing. I can't play too far ahead of what I've blogged or I'll miss things. I'm almost done with the preseason. I don't want to move into the regular season without giving my blog an off-season update.

I've got Kovalchuck from the start of this new season. I'm hoping I can give batdad's Hossa a run for his money.

That's good news, as i just signed Hossa during the off-season :D I've played just 4 games into the season, and he already has 4 goals and 3 assists, all on important goals! It changes a lot from Havlat, who sure won the Richard in season 2 with 51 goals, but was rarely there when needed, especially in the playoffs were he cost me the loss of the Cup

After this Season 5 i've just stopped complaining about Havlat play ( 97 points in 60 games ).
I'm starting to believe i'll never trade him away, you can call me a compassionate guy. ''

Hossa won't sign with me. After trading Foppa and some other deadweight (old borderline players where I offered to all and took the best deal pickwise.) I had enough capspace to bring down Hossa, but he didn't want to sign with me. So right now I have a kidline, they aren't really doing anything yet, but wasn't expecting huge numbers out of them. Have any of you guys had problems with Toews? My plan initially was to have him spend 1 year in the AHL and then let him make the jump, but he's just not putting up the numbers in the AHL. David Bolland who had the 2nd line center put up better numbers than Toews on the 1st. I'm 4 games into the AHL season and Sindel a kid that I promoted from the ECHL in the 2nd line and he is putting up better numbers than Toews. I'm starting to think I did something wrong with him, but I don't know what.

Toews has been awesome for me actually. In his rookie year he leads all rookies in every category except plus minus. And the only reason he is losing that is because I also have Jeff Schultz on my blueline. (not pim's of course) His average rating is something like 8.5 or so...and he is over a point a game. Not bad.

As I do with alot of my young guys who can be star centers I play them in their secondary position for a bit, with an experienced vet at center (kind of like the Avs did when they drafted Tanguay and had Drury as well...they both started as wings, and moved to C...now Tanguay is of course back to wing).

I had Craig Conroy with Brule on right wing. Now I have Mike Richards or Shawn Horcoff with Toews on Left wing. Learn the job playing with the best you have to offer. Even playing LW Toews faceoffs have gone from 13 to 15 in 1 year. He will win the Calder Trophy fo sho. Up against Esposito (who is good in my game for once), and several other very good players.

What is interesting is he only put up about a point a game for me in the 2 years he played in the minors as well, and got injured a fair bit playing centre. So far...healthy, wealthy and wise on the left side for me.

My main concern with Toews is his low stamina. Even if i train him a lot on his conditioning, he can't go over 11 in stamina for a very long time, and so always ends the games totally tired. I watch some of the games of the kids in Norfolk (don't coach it, it would take me too much time) and Toews is generally doing great in the first period, decent in the second, and transparent in the third. He has the skill to play in the NHL already, but couldn't have more than 3rd/4th line minutes due to his stamina, so i let him in AHL and hope he will progress physically. Elso i'll probably trade him away. I already have Malkin in the lineup as a young center star, Sharp could easily play on the second line, Bolland is close to be ready, and Yelle is generally doing a good job, so if Toews can't play more minutes, he won't stay long in the organisation, even if he is a fantastic kid.

I'm thinking Toews will end up being my homegrown for season 5. I've had him down on the farm team in Norfolk for 2 seasons already and he's set to play season 4 there too. He's been a 2nd line LW for his first two seasons in the AHL. I'm thinking of bumping him up to the first line for this season. He's already looking like a well rounded player but I'd like to see his physical abilities (stamina and skating) get better. Still, he's far from bad in those areas.

Well, I guess season 3 is my last season in the challenge. I just realized that in my haste to get the #1 overall (and take Tavares) right before the draft, I dealt away my 2nd round pick. I had 2 and I managed to deal away both of them. To make matters worse, I did this days ago and didn't realize until just now when I sat down to update my blog. I had no 2nd round pick. ](*,)

Looks like I'm out until the next challenge. :headache:

No...you are not. There is a penalty as you know, but you are not tossed out for 1 mistake dude. You know that. We shall discuss the penalty. Or are you looking to get out of the challenge? Come on...get back on the horse.

If everyone is cool with a penalty, I'll keep going. I just didn't want to play unfairly. I know the rules but totally spaced. As some of you know, I mainly play EHM at work. Well work has been extremely busy lately, so I've had a hard time squeezing in playing time. I had a little bit of time to play the other day and in my zeal, I spaced on the rules.

Anyhow... sorry everyone. If people are okay with a penalty, I'll keep going. I was planning on continuing my game anyhow, even if it didn't count towards the challenge.
