I love parity in hockey, so this tournament has been great so far. A minor setback for Canada, as far as their standard WC performance is concerned. But by no means is the sky falling. Wouldn't even call it a major upset, since the Swiss have developed a tenacity in the past decade. They also are ranked #8 in the world, so they're no pushovers.

I don't want to diss Jukka Jalonen, who's an amazing coach, but it might just be that my friend (who's HPK-fan) was on the right track when he had his suspicions on JJ when he was nominated Finnish head coach. What my friend said was that JJ is a very good long term coach, he made HPK, a mediocre team, with lots of young players, a competetive team season after another by investing on the youngsters and making them league ready professionals, but he may not be the best possible short term tournament coach. He's a long term project leader, with amazing ability to work with youngsters (to use EHM-terms!).

:dunno:
That's true, he's good in long term projects. But he has contract to 2011-2012, so he will coach to next 2 World Championships. I don't think he will be fired.

Anyway, Finland won!!! =D> :-p :joy:

Sweden - Latvia 4-2

Finland - Belarus 2-0 =D> Nice job! It's nice to see own town boys scoring goals (Hytönen, Immonen). Especially when Hytönen was choosen best player of Finland in game. Vatanen and Pihlström played well, too.

Great showing, statistically speaking, for my boy Gustavsson against Canada. Didn't watch the game, so I don't know how many quality shots the Monster had to save. Either way, pip pip!
