Discuss all aspects of editing the data and databases in EHM here. Have a question about the EHM Editor, EHM Assistant, editing the .cfg files, hex editing the .dat or .db files? Want to tweak the EHM exe file to change league rules/structure, start date etc? This is the place!

This is the forum to discuss all aspects of editing the EHM data and tweaking the game.
Have a bug or feature request for the EHM Editor? Post them in the EHM Editor thread. Please start a new thread or post in another thread if you have a question about how to use the EHM Editor.
Given the large number of questions on similar topics, we ask that you start a new thread for a new question unless you can locate a similar question in an existing thread. This will hopefully ensure that similar questions do not get buried in large threads.

In the new EHM all players now have Player Roles & their Attributes now have different levels of importance (Key, Essential, Non-Essential and Irrelevant) depending on the Player Role
This thread explains the Player Roles and the corresponding Key, Essential, Non-Essential and Irrelevant Attributes http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 10&t=16777
The thread also shows the "average Attribute by CA" chart

The spreadsheet is missing the identifier information at cell A1. Without this information, the Editor cannot determine what data you are trying to import. Either you have deleted the identifier or you are trying to import something that you shouldn't.
Did you use one of the Spreadsheet Templates generated by the Editor?

Yeah, i have used the export from the Editor and after that i import it with the changes, but i got this error

But when I want to create a new game with the new database, game give me this error
It's hard to say what the problem is without any details of what you're trying to do. It might be a bug with the Editor or it might be that you're trying to do something that cannot be done.
I have added some very basic filtering to the Editor now. It's just a couple of drop-downs on a couple of screens, but it's a start. Once it is polished, I'll be able to move on to adding advanced filtering to Staff, Clubs, Comps, etc.
Which formats (and how new a programme version) is needed for importing spreadsheets back to database through EHM Editor?
I don't have access to Microsoft Office -products, only to Open Office. I can open/edit all exported spreadsheets, but the formats available for saves are limited to :
- ODF spreadsheet/ODF spreadsheet template (*.ods / *.odt)
- Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP (Template) (*.xls / *.xlt)
- Microsoft Excel 2003 XML (*.xml)
- Text CSV (*.csv)
+ few other even older and more obscure formats.
Any chance to import data back or no chance while working with Open Office -products?
You might want to consider installing LibreOffice which is the successor to OpenOffice and is far more advanced than OpenOffice. LibreOffice supports xlsx too.
Anyone mind helping how to edit the balance/budget of your team? I manage to edit the player budget but when I enter amounts to ''cash'' section it changes nothing in game. My team is on negative balance currently and I'd just like to neutralize the situation by adding the same amount to cash that the team has in negative balance. I'm editing a saved game atm.
I'm afraid saved game editing is experimental. There are likely financial settings elsewhere in the saved game which cannot be viewed/editing using the Editor - hence why changing that one figure is not making any difference.

You have to click on either "open database" or "open saved game" depends on what you want to edit a database or a saved game. Afterwards, you can go throught the tabs to select wich part of the database you want to edit (people, club, league, etc). no matter what you choose, you will have the option to create a new entity with the [+ add item] button or you can find the entity you want to edit by the component to the left.
Now i have a question myself, is there a way to transfert certain database info into another database? For exemple, i did an expansion draft manually for the nhl 36 team database so the 5 new teams is not empty. However, the DB got updated, so if i want to use the new version i will lose all my work. So is there a way to merge the new database with the older version with my part of work basiclly i dont have to redo the expansion draft all over again.

To a limited extent. You can export certain data such as non-players and players from one database via the Tools > Export Spreadsheet function in the Editor. You can then filter out the relevant data you want to import into the target DB and import via the Tools -> Import Spreadsheet function.
ok i did that. However, when i try to import my spreadsheet that i exported from the other DB it throws ERR_UNKNOWN_IMPORTER_FILE. After i did some research, i conclude that the spreadsheet that i exported miss some information. If you go to impot spreadsheet -> create templates and after you go to the file staff.xlsx you can see that you have a colomun Mode(e) that is not in the exported spreadsheet and the 3 first cells(1A, 2A, 3A) of the staff file's contains staff, dmy and metric. So i'm not sure what to do after that.
That's right - the spreadsheet is missing some columns or the identifier (this is the text at cell A1 which tells the Editor what type of spreadsheet you are trying to import).
If you are exporting staff then use the "Players & Non-Players (Research Sheet)" option on the Export Spreadsheet screen. The Research Sheet will be formatted for re-import. Alternatively, you'll need to copy and paste your spreadsheet data to the Staff template spreadsheet.
If any of the players/non-players need to be created in the target DB then you'll need to put "Add" in the Mode cell of those persons. You can leave the other Mode cells blank as the Editor will regard a blank Mode as meaning "edit" in the case of the Staff spreadsheet.
Oh i see. One more thing, after that i import the "Players & Non-Players (Research Sheet)" spreadsheet, it always says all rows contain error. So i checked the excel error file that it generate and basically every row(player) in the excel looks like this

i just change player's team for most of them
Can you upload the spreadsheet? I'll take a quick look.

The spreadsheet is fine with me except for one issue (which is a bug with the Editor - I'll fix this for the next release): It does not like the "Unrecognised value" items in the Nation Contracted column (Column R). If you delete all of the text in Column R then this will fix it (i.e. so that Column R is blank).
Thanks Kevistar. Got there in the end myself!. Just one more question guys. Are mid level countries like Austria pre coded to produce top NHL players over others i.e. Britain regardless of the standard of coaching beween 16-21 even with similar stats to top brits at same age?
I have now added some basic filtering to a number of screens which I hope will make the Editor a little easier to use. The filtering is pretty basic at the moment - just one or two criteria (plus the text search). Once I have done some more behind the scenes preparatory work, I should be able to add some more advanced filtering (e.g. for clubs, leagues and staff). I also need to add filtering to the pop-up dialogue windows. I am expecting only the basic filtering will make the next release and the rest will come a little later (no ETA for the next release).
Here are some of the filters in action (left to right: affiliations, arenas, cities and states):
