FHM 3 - Too many import players

So I just got the game, I had FHM2 so im fairly familiar with the game and how it works. I started a game with Kamloops (WHL), I traded one of my import players for another import player so I should still be fine with 2/2 imports, however the one I traded is still showing up as dressed on my active roster as well as the new one I traded for. So I scratched him to make it 2/2 but that doesnt work either because hes still on my active roster so now I have 3 imports and the game wont let me continue. I suspect that the reason he's still on my active roster has something to do with I trading his rights to the other team but I had to do this because he's under contract to an NHL team and not my team and wasnt on my players list on the trade screen but rather in my player rights category even though he was on my active roster, dressed and playing for my team. I also now can't drop him or send him down or anything to get him off my active roster. Anyone know of any way around this or how I should have completed the trade so this wouldnt have happened?
