				RAR vs. ZIP

Just wondering because I have noticed most people use RAR files for their packs.
Is RAR better than ZIP in some way? Does it make files smaller or have better support for different characters or something?
I have no idea what the difference is myself. I have always just used ZIP, as they can be opened directly in Windows XP without the need for a stand alone unpacking program.

RAR is just all around better for basically everything.
It opens most compressed file types including .ZIP files.
It also looks better and is slightly faster in my experience.

.rar files are much more prone to being corrupted on download and is also a less 'accessable' format since many people don't have the tools to extract .rar files. So while .rar might be better slightly better at doing compression it suffers on the ease of use for all users side of things, whihc is why I stick with .zips

Yeah, same here.
I have also noticed that a few rars I have downloaded won't open correctly in my program, allthough I don't have WinRAR itself, which might be the problem

Download 7-zip. It's freeware (i think), and you will never be caught without a decompression tool again.
