15 Again - One more shot at the pros

Post by Lidas »

Inspired by the thread there on TBL, and another thread on TBN, I wanted to create a dynasty from a player’s point of view, with myself in focus. I have created myself with CA 50 and PA –15, so I can end up anywhere… Gave myself some good mental attributes (DET 20), to make sure Ill reach my potential. All leagues are running on enhanced – I want to keep all career paths open, although it will slow things down for sure. I’ve never done anything like this before; I’ve never even had a blog, so plz don’t be too harsh with your comments.

And so it begins...

One day as I was strolling around in downtown Västerås, I found this weird device in the middle of the Vasa Park (Swedish). Curious as I am I started pushing its buttons, and KAZAAM! I was a young kid again. It must have been a similar machine to the one that made Tom Hanks older in the movie Big, although with the opposite effect. Stunned at first of course, but after overcoming the initial shock, the first thing that came to mind was:

I’ll try to succeed where I once failed. I’ll give it one more shot of becoming a professional hockey player.

First thing I did was stroll down to the bus terminal, and take the first bus out to ABB Arena (Swedish) where my hometown team
Västerås IK plays. Heading straight to the office of GM Leif Rohlin, knocking on his door:

- Come in
- Hello. My name is Daniel, and I’d like to play for you team.
- So you do… do you have any skills?
- Lend me a pair of skates, and let’s play some one-on-one.
- Sure… I’m bored of all this paperwork anyway, but you do realize that I used to be playing in the NHL?
- Of course sir. I followed your career leading you to the Vancouver Canucks.
- Let’s go then.

30 minutes later, totally outclassed by the ex-pro, he told me:
- You need some more practice kiddo, but you’ve got hockey in your blood for sure
- So you’ll sign me then?
- I’ll let you start in our juniors, and we’ll see what happens. I’ll tell our head coach Johan Tornberg to keep an eye on your progress.
- Thank you sir!

After signing a 4-year-contract, I headed home, and went straight to bed, wondering if I’d still be 15 years old tomorrow…

Heh... I never knew it was that easy to get a contract :-D

I like the fact that you have Swedish and Japanese nationality. If it doesn't work out for you in Sweden, you can always try to make it into the Japanese national team. :-p

Good stuff! :-)

Is there a setting somewhere that changes the rating scale from 0-20 to 0-100?

This is definitely a cool idea.

Thanks.

You can change the scale under Preferences. Check the box where it says "Alternative Attribute Ranges"

Woke up in the morning, rushed to the mirror, and confirmed yesterdays events... yes - I am still 15 years old... Kewl

Hmm... now where is that practice schedule... looking everywhere - where can it be...
OH there it is - WHAT !?!? Practice starts 09:00 ?

Oh fudge... its 08:30 already - Gotta rush!
No breakfast, no shower... no wonder that old lady was looking strangely at me on the bus, but the dogs seems to like the smell. 8-)

Finally, arrived at ABB Arena at 08:55. 5mins to get into gear - but What the Dickens!?!
There are no coaches! Something must be seriously wrong. We've got a couple of players on the ice, but there is noone here to coach us. Total miss by the management, what are they thinking? I hope this wont hamper my development too much, and as for tactics - maybe I can help out with a thing or two... after all Ive got years of experience from the EHM series :tiptap:

First off, you are doing a great job. Not too many people can really start something like this and keep going with it, you know?

The only question or comment that I can throw out is why don't you use the EHM blog feature that is offered? Makes it much easier for you to edit your posts or blogs. Plus, it will make it easier to post pictures and keep it more open, you know what I mean?

I feel it's a good idea, but aside from that, you are doing great and keep up the great work.

Thanks for you input, using the blog is a good idea and I was actually considering using it for this, but I felt I would get more attention - and more comments if I used a forum-thread instead.

I'll admit that you will get more attention by using the thread idea here in the forums.

As for anything else, you are welcome for the input. By the way, what did you use to make yourself in the game? I know there is some kind of editor, but I have totally blanked on where you can get it or whatever.

If you could let me know, I'd appreciate it, thanks.

Yes, I did use an editor to create myself. If you want to it, you get get it HERE

We've also talked a bit about creating ourselves in THIS thread.
