Just to let everyone know...
We're planning on kicking off Challenge 15 on Wednesday, November 18th, unless complications delay things. We will be using an NHL team and Lidas Update ver 2.0. ver 2.1.
I know a few people were asking when we were going to run a challenge again. So take your favorite team for a spin in the new update and then get ready for a fun new TBL challenge coming very soon!

Just a quick note to point out that we will be using
Lidas DB v2.1 for Challenge 15.
That DB is available here:

Stay tuned...

I can't wait, I've wanted to get back into EHM for a while now and this challenge will help a lot.

Thanks, Catchup! Definitely a good point!
That's great, Joe. It will be great to have you join us in another challenge. I hope we get a lot of folk joining in. We've got a lot of people who have been participating in them for a long time that I hope will continue to play the challenges and we've gotten a lot of new TBL members recently. I'm hoping we get a bunch of them joining in too! It should be a lot of fun.

I missed the last one with Jets as I was busy with other things, but now I'm here for my revenge.

Not getting any revenge if I play Joe...you might be able to handle T-bug, B72, catchup and lidas....but you cannot handle the b-diddly do.
But I may let you off the hook and not play.

At least I was 2nd behind you once. To get my revenge you have to be in the challenge.

I'm sure I could give this a go. Sounds like good fun going by other peoples word.

It's a blast! I'm excited to be getting back into the game and the Challenge's are a great way to do that! I'm going to be trying out some new tactics and practice schedules. Hopefully, I get the results I'm after and don't end up getting the lottery pick in the first season...
The best advice I can give is to read all the rules/setup threads
thoroughly. They can be confusing at first, but I find they even the playing field and make the game more interesting.

Good advice on the rules, Catchup. They can be a little confusing but we're really simplified things over the last couple challenges. It's made a big difference, I think. We'll have some tweaks to the rules that will be announced tomorrow, along with the team we'll be using. A smart move will be to download Archi's Challenge Rule Cheat Sheet (of which a new version will be released tomorrow also). It's one page. Print it out and keep it handy while you play.
I'm sure a lot of us will be struggling to avoid getting a lottery pick in our first season with the team we'll be using. I really do think this one is going to be pretty challenging.

Are you trying to say that team is going to be the Leafs?
Nah, impossible... they won't be getting the lottery pick this season no matter what.
A wee question: how much time does it actually take to participate in a Challenge? And if one would like to participate, where should he start the reading? I'd love to try, but my free time's been pretty limited recently.

Nope. It's definitely NOT the Laffs. As you alluded to, the Bruins have their lottery pick.
As for the Challenge, there's not a specific amount of time you're required to devote to it. Do you play EHM? Since you're here, I'll assume so. Basically, you're playing as a certain team (that we decide) and you've got 2 months of real time (not game time) to play as far as you can. Some people only log one or two seasons. I've seen others play as many as 7 seasons! The 2 month time limit makes it flexible so that you can play as much or as little as you want.
The best place to start reading is the rules. If you go to the challenge forum (the forum this thread is in) you'll see a box labeled "Announcements". When we announce the team tomorrow you'll see that team, the deadline for the challenge (the cutoff date where we won't take any more results past), and links to the various pieces of the rules and to tools you'll need (the stats recording spreadsheet and the cheat sheet). Make sure to read all of the rules. Many people make the mistake of just skimming through the rules and then they wonder why they're getting penalized (or dropped from the challenge) when they break the rules. The rules have been refined over the life of the TBL challenges and they've actually gotten pretty simple... as long as you read them.

Possibly the Avs if it's for a Lottery Pick. My current roster blows more than a hooker.

LOL!
We try to keep it rated "PG" (or whatever the family-friendly film rating is in other parts) but that was pretty funny. I couldn't not laugh at that one.

Ha my bad B.
I'll keep it family-ish rated from here on out

Sure I play EHM! And I'm loving every minute of it.

Thanks for clearing things up!

Picking a team for challenge is fun, but I always prefer a team with major holes in net.
Winning with a team that has no goal tending is the toughest challenge.
Toronto could be a lot of fun.

We thought about doing Toronto but in the end we decided against them. We actually used them in a challenge a while back (sure, they had Sundin then but we still used them). We'd like to give other teams a go before circling back to some of the teams we've already used.

I intend to actually do more than one season...
I got a little bogged down over last summer. Bit of a pain in the butt to be honest, as I was having a lot of fun with my Jets franchise. Heck I think we won the cup first year... Selanne was great to have and Toews got great down the stretch for me.

Woohoo!
Very excited - been saving my EHM time for this Challenge - want to get three seasons at least in!
It's Wednesday...

Wed in Boston is not for awhile yet, and you will have to wait til B72 gets to work.

Haha I'm just outside of Toronto... So I'm close to it

Any clues as to who the team might be?

Yeah, we'll be waiting until I get to work tomorrow and get settled in (maybe 8 or 9 AM Eastern Time) before announcing the team. As for hints... I'll give two. The first is that we have not done a challenge with this team before. Take a look at the past challenges and you can cross all of those teams off the list. The second hint is that they're going to be very hard and it will be unlikely that anyone will win the Stanley Cup in the first season.
Archi is going to be releasing an updated Cheat Sheet tomorrow with our rule changes in it but you can actually go to the Challenge Rules section here on TBL and see the new rules now.
Challenge Setup
Gameplay Rules
Stats Recording and Scoring
I will also be uploading a new stats recording spreadsheet with a minor tweak to account for the change to the UFA Pyramid.
It should be a fun challenge and I'm really happy to see several people already excited about joining in.
