Use this thread to discuss any buy-outs, trades, signings (both UFA and teams own players), and staff changes. Basically, talk about any off-season activity that isn't the NHL Entry Draft.

Well it's been said already, but Kovy and Afinogenov are most likely both going to test the free agent waters this summer.

I sure hope Kovy stays in the league. It would wreak havoc on my fantasy-team, otherwise :dunno:

He was offered 42 mill over 3 years from a KHL team reportedly.

Yeah that's scares me too. Kovy is still one of the best players in the NHL and that will be alot of publicity gone in the east. He never talk about is desire to stay in the NHL either I think. :-k

I think he'll stay. He wants to play in the best league in the world.

I've heard that the Wild make qualify offers to Latendresse and Harding and they sign Sheppard to a one year deal.

Brodeur is not moving anywhere and contract negotiations with Kulemin aren't going so smoothly in Leaf ville.

It's like Burke said, just because we needed to use him on the first line doesn't mean that he deserves first line money. We'll see where this goes from here.

He's a 40 pt player demanding 3 M per year. He's worth 2 - 2.5.

As per TSN.ca:

The Detroit Red Wings agreed to terms with forward Todd Bertuzzi on a two-year, $3.875 million contract on Wednesday.

The two-time All-Star signed on with the Red Wings as an unrestricted free agent last year and finished the season with 18 goals and 26 assists for 44 points in 82 games. He added 11 points in 12 playoff games.

''Playing with guys like Pavel Datsyuk and (Henrik Zetterberg) was great, but so was just being able to fit into the system,'' Bertuzzi told the Detroit Free Press. ''It's just a great group of guys to be around.''

The 13-year veteran was drafted in the first round of the 1993 Entry Draft by the New York Islanders.

Bertuzzi has also had stops in Vancouver, Florida, Anaheim and Calgary.

They also extend for 5 years their association with their GM.

Now all Detroit has to do is sign their RFA's and they've got their full roster. Man I love how that team operates.

That rivalry's dead.

Though I just love the way their front office operates. So professional.

You're right, there's no rivalry anymore between those two teams, that's sad, I was at least hoping the fans still got it. Pfffff. :-D

Nah I can respect what the Wings have done with their organization. They draft like it's nobody's business.

Can Neely was named Bruins president. Now Chiarelli reports to him?

To be honest, I don't get the NHL teams' front office structure. Owner, Governor, President, GM... Who's who? Which responsibilities they have? :dunno:

Preds have re-sign Bouillon to a 2 years deal. I'm happy for him, at least the Preds know he was doing a good job.....

At NJ MacLean's been named the head-coach.

Goalie controversy in Montreal is officialy over. Halak dealt to St. Louis for Lars Eller and Ian Schultz.

This is absolutely disgusting, my jaw is touching the ground right now. I just can't understand that, I hate the Habs but now it's worst than ever, what a dump f*** organization. I wish they would get the 15th place and died in hell. Gauthier just prove he's a pure idiot.....wow just wow, where's the Molson in that?. Good luck with the little Cowboy......

The only reason I see is that they really want to keep Price in the team. I don't think it's because negociation were going bad or Halak was asking for alot of $$$$. I'm really speechless, Don Waddell isn't the worst GM anymore. :-D

Ah good trade for St. L.

Yeah, I know Halak don't have a high value even with what he done but come on I'm sure Gauthier could have got better than this. The Canadian are laughing in the fans face, I'm eager to see when Price will goal a bad game at MTL, omg....

wow halak was their best player in playoffs. good for halak i think now he will get the respect he deserves. canadian teams need some serious shakeup, nucks and sens have things quite ok despite overpaid overated goalie and that heatley deal :-D but the others not so well

Honestly, I don't see why everyone is freaking out. This is a decent deal.

1) Halak is RFA and the Blues have to sign him. 4mil? 5? They will be lucky to get him to bite for less than that.
2) The return is two players in their early 20s, one of whom (Eller) could be a decent 2nd line center in a couple of years. AHL all star game last year and 13th overall pick in '07. Not bad.
3) The Habs are negotiating from a position of weakness. It's common knowledge that they couldn't realistically keep both Price and Halak. How would you have felt if that was the return for Price?

All in all, it's an OK deal. Not a home run, but Halak is out of the Conference an Price has the reigns again.

Now, where do we trade the rights to Pleks? Calgary? Columbus? NJ? All three of those teams need a decent two-way set up man (Iginla, Nash, Parise).
