Can someone tell me the basics of this game?

I'm new to the game
(played for about a week) and i didn't find a the guide
(the download was broken), or a suitable topic to post this question...
...so can someone tell me the basics about player-developing, potential, trading etc.

Beyond that, check out some of the larger threads in the Game Knowledge Discussion forum. There are threads there on player development, training, tactics, and many other topics that you could find useful. I'd also recommend the EHM 2005 Guide:

Although written for EHM 2005, the basics aren't that different and it'll give you a good understanding of how the game works. The EHM 2007 Guide more of an update with regards to the tactics but doesn't cover the other aspects of gameplay.
