That's good news right? Maybe it's working for me to, i haven't tried simming a whole season yet but I'll try that later.

This will probably make no sense at all if you don't remember my problem with the Custom Start Date Patch from earlier in this thread.
Hey ElPayaso! :) Yes, I remember your problem - we fixed it using a mixture of the CSD Checker and ArtMoney. So are you saying that you can now load the game without using ArtMoney? Either way, if you can now change the date then that is very good news. Just ensure you apply the CSD Patch (and ArtMoney if you are also using this) each time you reload the game until you reach 1 Feb or 1 July (depending on whether or not you have the Russian and/or Finnish leagues loaded - more details in the readme on this).

In either event, I would recommend using the Patch rather than the Checker if you can (even if you still have to use ArtMoney each time). IIRC the Checker is a little out of date now.

I'm glad we managed to solve this one!
I'm saying I can now load the game and set the start date to 2011 using only the CSD Checker, I will try using the patch to and hopefully I get the same result. And I will also simulate a seasong to make sure it doesn't crash.

Any idea why it works with the new database?

apologies, jumped ahead of myself in my haste to make it work.

When reporting difficulties/errors, you must provide the following information:
1. The version of Windows you are using (and ideally whether it is 32 or 64 bit).

- windows xp, probably 32 bit though to be honest, i'm not sure how to find out.

2. The version of EHM you are using (i.e. v3.0.3, v3.0.4, etc).

- 3.0.4
3. The edition of EHM you are using (eLicense or CD-ROM).

- e-license

4. If you receive any warning/error messages in the Patch window, please provide a complete copy of the messages you receive.

- none, says patch sucessful

5. Specific details of what the problem is. It’s not enough to say simply that it crashes! I need to know at what point in-game it crashes and anything you clicked on that resulted in the crash.

only crash is when I try to start a game with the new rosters (manimal 4.0) with foreign leagues selected. (probably the cause is Finland, because the message is: v3.04 fin_suomi.cpp 1333" "v3.04 fin_suomi.cpp 1559" then it crashes.

But when I start a game without those leagues selected, everything works, but the game still starts in 2006. I imagine my older computer is a problem, but since I can't afford a new one for a while, I am hoping that with your guidance, I can get this to work.

I tought the (x86) was for 32- bit system and that I had to get the 64- bit? but I guess I was wrong.
Thanks that's very useful to know. Like you, I would have assumed you'd need the 64-bit version. Thanks for letting me know about this because it will help other users if they encounter a crash.

Btw, as Manimal has said, you don't need to use any of the [MET] tools because they were applied to the rosters before we uploaded them. The v4.0 rosters are ready to be used with the CSD Patch right out of the box.

Hmm now this is very strange. I'm 99% certain that the choice of rosters won't have any impact. Since you last tried, have you installed any additional software, updated virus-scanners, uninstalled any software etc? I would have thought that it must be a change to your system setup. Either way, it's great it's now working for you!

Thanks BlueSteel9; that helps. I doubt it is the fact you own an older computer, but it may be somehow related to your system setup. Two or three users have encountered a similar problem (such as ElPayaso) but we were able to solve it. Try following these instructions (you will need to first download and install ArtMoney Special Edition (Freeware)).

The 28th Feb crash relates to the Finnish league (the Suomi Sarja to be precise). It was a crash I encountered (and later resolved) during development of the Patch. The offending offset is 00920612 and I expect it would be somewhere around there for your game too.

ElPayaso & Viking - do you have this problem too? It might only appear if you have the Finnish league selected.

I'm starting to think that, for whatever reason, some of the offsets are different on your system. All I can do is give you some suggestions on how to try and fix it which will basically involve trying different 2006 offsets and seeing whether that works. In essence you'd need to develop your own version of the patch using ArtMoney (which I could then incorporate into the Patch). It's not as bad as it sounds because it looks like you're already nearly there and, with the information I've built up during Patch development, it might not take that long. However it obviously depends on whether you have the spare time to try things out and whether you have the desire/interest to do so.
I'm an idiot. For some reason I was thinking I only had to use the patch when reloading the game until October of the first season. So I did not use the patch, and I saved and reloaded early in the season. And the game crashed exactly where it should have. I need to re-read these threads once again, then give it another go and sim through the season. Everything was looking fantastic.
I quote this because it is very similar to what I experienced. I had been playing for a while and crashed on Feb. 28th. I was relieved to find out the game would continue after loading the patch again, only to have it crash on July 1st. I haven't been able to salvage my game since, very frustrating LOL

Yep the big drawback with the Patch is that it has to be applied each time you reload the game until those cut-off dates (i.e. 1 Feb / 1 July). My understanding is that there are certain critical dates in the game whereby the Patch must have been applied when simming past that date. I guess if you forgot the Patch but don't sim to one of those critical dates then you'd get away with it. But 99% of the time you'll end up with a game-ending crash or bug. ](*,)

Maybe a future version of the Patch could have a button that loads the game without applying the actual CSD changes. This would turn the Patch into a sort of launcher - so each time you want to load EHM, you load the Patch and then either click on Apply Patch or just Launch EHM (minus the Patch). Thus you could replace your EHM shortcut with a shortcut to the Patch - thereby helping to remind you to apply Patch if you're not past those critical cut-off dates. :-k

What makes you think that the history of players 06-11 years should be?
Statistics of all players are only now being done for these seasons and will be available in the database 4.1

weird history ´issues with NHL though. First goals, PIMs, anything, etc. of season are new records! is this due to the patch or the roster update. Amd will it be corrected for 4.1?

History is not yet updated...it will be corrected in later release. We just figured out how to make things easier for it. Researchers are needed for updating those histories. Please check out the thread.

Welcome to The Blue Line!

The Patch doesn't make any changes to the exe or the licensing. What happens if you load the game without the Patch?

Hey guys, I need some help. I cannot get the patch to work.

I have Windows 7, I have the latest patch 3.0.4, and I have the e-license. I apply the patch and when I load a new game nothing happens to the start date. I am also running the patch as Administrator.

Did you quit the game and reload? If so, you have to re-apply the Patch (and follow the steps with ArtMoney again). As the first page of the readme.pdf file (the section entitled IMPORTANT) says:
IMPORTANT!
You should use the CSD Patch in the following circumstances:

1. When you want to start a new game in EHM and you want to use a custom start date.

2. If you have the Finnish or Russian leagues selected:

When you reload a game where you have not yet reached the 1st July at the end of the first season. You must use the Patch to set the same start year as when you first created the saved game using the Patch.

3.If you do not have the Finnish or Russian leagues selected:

When you reload a game where you have not yet reached the 1st February of the first season. You must use the Patch to set the same start year as when you first created the saved game using the Patch.

Please note that you should not use the Patch to reload a game once you have reached 1st July otherwise you are likely to encounters errors/crashes.

I couldn't see anything about this in this thread or even if this is the right topic.

Loaded up using CSD patch and all good, except when your doing training camp. When camp finishes you have to place all players on waivers, including those on 2 way contracts. So you have like 100 players on waivers at a time!
Also any 2 ways on my NHL roster have to clear waivers before they can be put back to AHL/ECHL :dunno:

Never had this before and im assuming its to do with the patch.

Other than that great work by everyone involved in this little project :notworthy:

The issue relates to the Manimal v4.0 Rosters. It is because we have converted the rosters for use with the CSD Patch but have found a couple of teething issues (as this is the first version of the rosters designed for the Patch). The issue you mention relates to the Date Joined dates being incorrect in the rosters. Manimal is working on fixing this for the next version. There's a little more info here: http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 38#p132438

P.s. thank you for your kind words.

As Archi said, we're working on it. With the date joined club set and histories added then this will work.
And BTW, two-way contracts has nothing to do with waivers. It is age, games played and time with the club that counts

I did not quit the game, I applied the patch using the ArtMoney method stated above, and it worked, I loaded up a new game with just the NHL league, and I simmed to October 2, it crashed on the 1st. I am going to try it again maybe I did something wrong.

There are two likely causes of the problem:

1) The Patch wasn't applied when you reloaded your game; or
2) An offset was not changed.

As you have already said, it cannot be #1 and so it must be #2. When you applied the ArtMoney method, did you also run the normal CSD Patch? You should load the game using the Patch and then apply the ArtMoney patch on top.

I'm sorry for asking obvious questions - it's just that it's best to cover all the basic angles first just to make sure it was applied as intended.

Many thanks for your work on this. I love this game and now have a great excuse to start over after 30-odd seasons on my last game.

I am slightly dense when it comes to these things, so can I please ask if there is a step by step guide/FAQ that gives an idiot's guide on how to use your editor to get a start date for the beginning of the 2011-12 NHL season (all leagues will be loaded though), and to include up to date rosters with correct DOB's etc. (assuming this is possible with manimals work?)

The histories/winners etc for the previous "missing years" dont bother me much, but if they are sorted somewhere that would also be greatly appreciated.

I am sorry if this is all down somewhere but I am struggling to find it, just some downloads that I am certain I will mess up without instructions.

Thanks again for your efforts.

Hi Poggy,

The readme that comes with the CSD patch is step by step. Also I believe the 1st post (did not look) has it as well. and for Manimal/Lidas rosters...the read me has instructions on what to do with it.

Thanks for that BatDad. I think I just needed a bit of gentle encouragement because it wasnt that hard in the end, lots of folders with strange names, but once I found the correct one with the readme in it was easy.

Now to get updated icons for the British teams and the Jets.

Thanks f to all in this thread.
