EHM crashes when selecting a database for a new game

Post by Kirby »

Hi GUys,

I am new to all this but I wanted to have up to date rosters for EHM 2007 (BTW bought it yesterday with demo version selected purchase and it seemed to work). I downloaded the Manimal 2011/12 roster/database and extracted it into the EHM/database/data folder. I then copied all the files (from Manimal folder) and overwrote them for the existing files in the database folder. I am getting an error "v3.0db_files.cpp 1809" what am I doing wrong? I haven't doowloaded anything else just the Roster uddate for the non patch .........can someone help?

Thanks, Kirby

I'm not sure if this will address your problem, but try just moving the whole Manimal 4.0 folder into your EHM Database folder (I've never overwritten files before...the EHM Database folder can have multiple databases within, and you just select the one you want when starting a new game)

Oh man......now I figured the issue. I needed the updated 3.0.4 patch which I downloaded. However now it tells me that when I attempt to start a new game and choose the manimal roster "EHM has stopped working" and tells me to close the program....darn anyone know what this problem may be?

I wonder if something has gotten missed when you were adding/removing rosters. Try deleting everything that is stored within your database folder (i.e. NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\data\database\). Then extract the Manimal Rosters directly into your database folder (i.e. so that all of the .dat and .cfg files are located directly in your database folder).

Tried that and it didn't work it still shuuts down the game. I am at a loss for what to do. I just want to start a game with the roster file but I can't seem to get it to work. Anyone seen this issue before? just to recap:

Downloaded 3.0.4 patch
Extracted manimal 2011/12 update to database folder
opened the game and chose manimal database for a new game
selected North America NHL and hit ok
It starts to load then I get a message saying NHL EHM 2007 has stopped working and then the game closes.

Can anyone assist? I just bought the game a couple days ago through the Demo version and hit purchase. I just worry that if I remove and re-install EHM 2007 it will make me pay again. or is there an option for re-install with my e-license/purchase code?

Ok, so it looks like you were right. I uninstalled EHM 2007 and deleted all the patches and databases. Then I re-installed and used the 3.0.4 ppatch. Then i added the Manimal database.....and.......Sucsess!!!!!!

Looks like because I copied and pated the new database as apposed to just leaving the folder in there .....caused the problem. Looks Great guys I am very excited to tske thee Leafs in the right direction!!!!! BTW.......Jake Gardiner should be waaay better!!! ;)

Again, For those of you who had the same issue:

Download patch 3.0.4
Extract Manimal Roster database to Eastside Hockey Manager/data/database
ensure that the database folder has all the default files in it, as well as a seperate folder for Manimal 2011/12 database roster.
*****As well, don't know if this matters but I also went into preferences after I used the patch (but before I extracted the databse) and set the database to full as opposed to normal.

Thanks again guys

Success here as well. That setting database to full was the reason.

Thanks!

Have you applied the CSD patch? Read this thread for CSD patch support.

So changing the setting from 'normal' to 'full' solved the problem?

Indeed. General rule: Don't overwrite files! You're only setting yourself up for problems.

I'm having trouble getting the two new databases to load. I have tried using the patch with 4.1 and no patch using the adjusted 4.1. I have removed them and re-installed them, with the same results. Basically EHM just freezes and I get a message that it stopped working. Also, I am unable to start any other new game (with any db) if either 4.1 db is loaded. When I remove them everything is fine. I'm using Windows 7 and have not had any previous problems with EHM and am able to start new 4.0 games and load them too.

Try moving everything out of your database folder (so it is completely blank), then create a new folder named something like "Manimal 4.1" and put the rosters inside that.

Then right click on the ehm2007.exe and click on Properties -> Compatibility -> Tick/Enable the 'Run as Administrator' box.

Then either load EHM (if you're using the non-patched rosters) or the CSD Patch (if you're using the 2011 patched rosters).

Let me know how you get on with this.

Thanks Archi! I followed your suggestions and it loaded up just fine. I think the key was to select the "Run as Administrator" box. :)

My Manimal 4.0 is a folder in "my documents" now. There's nothing i can do to get it to work or add to the game, its all stats stuff in the folder like currencie, drafts, injuries.dat etc.

Please help, my game crashes and says > Fatal: Unable to allocate data for database

Sounds like you downloaded the files only. All of them(47?) should be placed in a folder and moved into the correct directory

Dear Avenger,

I don't know if I understand correctly, but the downloaded database folder should not be put in the My Documents folder, whatever that is, but the original database folder inside the application folder. To repeat myself (again):
Círyatan wrote:First you make sure you have the game updated to the latest version (3.04 patch was the latest one, there should be one available in the downloads section around here). Then you download the roster updates. You unzip them and get a folder named, say, LidasDB3.2. You put this folder (the whole folder, with all the database files inside) INTO the original database folder (filepath: whereveryouputEHM/NHL EHM 2007/data/database), next to the original database files. Now when you opt to start a new game, you should get a menu allowing you which database to use. Et voilà.
Hope it helps.

Does the patch auto attach itself to the game? same goes with the roster update?
