Whoa there bandwagon boy. The Hawks have been one of my favorite teams since I was a little kid like you. So no way I was calling them down. Not a chance. I probably said something along the lines of "If they don't get it done this season, they ain't gonna get it done" And along the lines of Tallon is a moron with those qualifying offers. And that Hossa was a great signing over Havlat. Oh and that their goaltending might be a problem...unless Niemi or Crawford turn out to be super rookies. Turns out Niemi only had to be a half super rookie.

Also probably mentioned that Keith is one of my fave d-men of all time. And that I hate Patrick Kane and his cocky idiocy. And that unless Buffy shows up in the playoffs this year like he did last...Hawks won't win.

All true, but never once did I say they had no hope. So really...

Now when it came to the last two weeks it just so happens that the Flyers are my childhood #1 team. Above the Hawks, and waaaaaay above the Canucks. So...I reverted a bit, and am sad for the Flyers.

However..they put up one heck of a battle especially when it comes out that Carter had TWO broken feet, not just one. And Ladd with a fractured shoulder is aweseome too.

Now...I really hope the Hawks can keep it together, but they gotta lose Pooet and Sopel.
No, I didn't say you wasn't a fan or anything, I just think I said Hawks will cruise to the cup.

And at least after the game 6 they need to get rid of Sopel, and Huet to get Niemi's contract renewed. Sopel is worth 800k contract and he is paid 2,2 millions, that ain't good. Huet is old and just a backup, so the hawks don't need him one a bit.

Blackhawks need to keep hold of Keith, Toews, Kane, Niemi, Seabrook, and Byfuglien, that way Tallon's successor could lead Chicago for a number of cups. Also they need real PK killers and old studs to play in situations as the last 10 minutes to hold the lead in game six, like John Madden. They need grit and power that comes as Brouwer and Ladd, and skill that comes as Versteeg and Bolland. Then there is their stars as Kane, Toews and Hossa, from which Hossa and Toews at least could be put on at almost every occasion. And they need to get rid of Campbell IMO, they need more guys like Hjalmarsson.

I might be totally wrong, but I think that's the way.

Anyway with the new contracts who will starts next season, Hawks will be pretty tight with the salary cap. So they need to get rid off Campbell, even if he is overpaid some teams will a lot of cap space would take it. With Keith and Seabrook, they don't need Campbell anymore.

Do you think when they sign Campbell they don't thought that Keith and Seabrook will be that good? Or it's just Tallon stupidity?

A bit of both. And maybe they didn't know this Hjalmarsson dude was quite alright.

The Hawks do not need to lose Campbell. And they won't be able to. They will be moving out some of their depth guys...

Options for being moved. If I recall if they move out Sopel and Huet, they may not have to lose anyone else, but would have no room and would clearly need another dman. If Huet cannot be dumped to minors or anywhere, going to have to move at least 2 of the following dudes:

Versteeg
Sharp
Byfuglien
Brouwer
Bolland

Ladd will not be resigned, as won't be able to afford him. So anyway, the Hawks are going to have to do something...what noone will know. But something

Chicago's defense was the key to success this year, with Campbell. I share Batdad's opinion that they'll try to keep the defensive core. They have guys like Skille and Alliu that could replace some of the second/third line offensive players.

Sharp back to Philly for a first rounder. ;)

With Toews winning the Smythe, one of his bonuses kicked in for 1.3 million, so that now counts against the cap next year. There goes Ladd.

Ladd was already gone even before that. People I know have it figured out that approx $1 million of that bonus for Toews will count against the Hawks cap # next season. Not a big deal, because the story is the cap will go up about 1 million. So...nothing changes. Hawks still have to move out the same salaries, and not resign Ladd.

Yeah good choice, personnally I prefer if they get rid off Versteeg, Sharp and Brouwer. Byfuglien and Bolland are part of the team success IMO. Bolland is an all situation man, Byfuglien though got some problems in the season but prove in the playoffs he can make the team win.

Sharp is more a part of that core than Bolland IMHO. Dude was 11-11-22. He plays every single forward position. He is a better pp and pk guy than Bolland. Problem is...he makes more.

Buffy--useless the whole time his $$ hurt the cap. Then when it doesn't he is a star.

Versteeg-Useless.
Brouwer--Should be better than he is.

Yes that the problem $$$$. I know Sharp is more part of the core than Bolland and Buffy but from the side of the salary cap Sharp is the problem, how much he got? 4millions?

3.9. Though he can play LW or C, play all situations and in my opinion is one of the best players on that team. I think he's locked up for another 3 years after this season.

Cap is expected to go up around 2m. But the cap penalties for the Hawks combined for next season are not 1m but an estimated 4m, so I've read on TSN anyway

Wow, the NHL cap is still going up?

Then, I must concede that the NHL are the true financial geniuses of our time. While the entire world economy plummets to Earth is a fiery ball of god-forsaken fire, the NHL has clearly demonstrated that they are in fact the financial model of the future - not riding that fiery fireball, but instead, blazing their own trails of glory, success, and shear know-how.

You know, I bet it was those form fitting jerseys. ...I just knew those things would profit in the trillions.

NHL cap going up because of Canadian $ as always. If players take this escalator thing will go up more. As Danny said expected to be around $59 mill.

That'd give the Avs like 27 million to work with this off season :joy:

Though I'd like to see them keep a good 10 million + open for when Duchene, O'Reilly, Galiardi and all of the other key young guns are up for RFA.
