Penguins Make Me SOOO Mad

Post by noctambulist »

Ok this is a post out of total frustration and I'm sure it's been discussed before.

But those  Penguins make me so mad. They are so overpowered in this game. They seem to just score at will and I can't seem to ever beat them. And I think Crosby is WAY overpowered as well, even with all the pre-season hype.

Not to mention that Samsonov had a hat-trick against them and a 10 rating in a 4-3 loss and didn't even get a star in the game. Though Murray got a bronze star with a lone assist. Go figure. That was just the icing on the cake. To top it all off, it was a game I needed to win to pull away from the 9th place Panthers. Man I hate the Penguins, at least in this game I do.

OK - FLAME OFF

Maybe we can start a "How to beat the Penguins in EHM thread".

Have you got the Smetana update?

I couldn't agree more, in mine they went Stanley Cup finalist in the first season, back-to-back champions then beaten by me in the finals in season 4.

Maybe with an updated db without Palffy, Recchi and Lemieux they may be worse, but their young players are incredible. Whilst this is probably fair for a few years down the line, these players (Fleury, Whitney, Welch, Bogunecki sp, et al) are all brilliant in the first season every time. You could argue Fleury is at NHL standard this season, but he's Vezina contending from 2005/6 is a bit much.

Which database is everyone using? I'm using Smetana's and they're pretty strong. I can't remember where they finished - I'll have to take a look.

I'm not entirely sure about Unfake v1 but I know v2 & v3 have a fair few attribute changes (such as improving prospects such as Ovechkin and Crosby) - that could account for things. :dunno:

I stick with 2.1.3 with Unfaking 1.

I don't think the Penguins have ever made it to the 3rd round of the playoffs in the 5 or 6 seasons I've played. And in one of those did they win the presidents trophy.

Prospects who went a bit improved was the europeans such Prucha, Svatosh and company.
Our projects are more transfers-wise than attributes-wise

I'm using Unfaking V1 and 2.1.3 as well. I didn't want Smetana's because I still want Thornton on my team.

I just shudder to think about next season when they add Malkin to the mix as well. In my game they somehow wrangled Zednik from the Canadians too. So they have three solid lines of powerful scorers in this game.

Crosby is a talented guy but I think it's a little unrealistic to have a rookie scoring over 100 points in the season and I still have about 10 games to go before the playoffs.

Thats another thing, I've never once seen Crosby take the Calder. It alwyas goes to Ovechkin, Vanek or that dude on the Ducks.

No it was Kunitz. I've seen him win it once, and be one of the runner ups twice.

Not to take away from your point, but Bogunecki is 31 years old.

When I was Columbus with an unknown database (I belive it is unfake 1, 2 or 3) they won the presidents trophy three years in a row but in the first round of the playoffs the got hammered 4-0 against Devils first season, Rangers 4-3 second and third it was Devils again.

This time I play with a slightly updated version of it and this time Penguins finished 8th first season and lost to 1st-seeded Tampa 4-1. The second season they didnt reach playoffs after finishing 12th.

First season Crosby won the Calder Trophy after getting 87 (!) points and second season Malkin won it after getting 100 points. Of course Ovechkin and Little, my two guys, finished second... Last year however, Crosby only managed to get 85 points in 82 games while Alexander Oveeeeeeechkin managed to score 66 times and assisting to 68 others thus making him get 128 points. Crosby - Oveckin 1-1.

Penguins Playoff History in my Game

I am Philadelphia. Nothing like a few good playoff series to reestablish a rivalry, plus I have Ovechkin on my team.

2005/06 - Conference Finals (Philadelphia Wins 4-3)
2006/07 - Conference Semifinals (Ottawa Wins 4-3, Swept Me in the Quarters)
2007/08 - Conference Semifinals (Philadelphia Wins 4-0)
2008/09 - Conference Semifinals (Philadelphia Wins 4-3)
2009/10 - Conference Semifinals (Tampa Bay Wins 4-3)
2010/11 - Conference Quarterfinals (New York Rangers Win 4-1)

Crosby is winning the points battle, but Ovechkin wasn't signed until December. Played 51 games and scored 83 points.

Ovechkin is winning the Stanley Cup battle though

Crosby 0
Ovechkin 1
