Challenge 3?
Hey guys, just wondering when challenge 3 would be occuring? I am pretty late for # 2, and I'd love to be able to start one from scratch. How long do these things usually take??

We haven't really considered when 3.1 would start as we have a very large group playing 2.1 that we are encouraging to follow through on to 2.2 for a second season with their teams so we're not asking 15+ users to start again with a new team. I'd guess we'd have to get whoever wants to continue on to 2.2 through half of their seasons as a group at least before we'd think about going back to a new Challenge all together.
So, while you have missed the first bonus points as you can see from the totals it's only a handful of points really, the big scoring is at the end of the season. Also completing the season allows you to go on to your second season too. I'd suggest you give it a shot; we have had a couple of GMs just start recently; so we won't shut anyone out if you join in now and can show you're making progress toward finishing
You're getting a bit of a late start but you can just look at it as getting an early start on your 2.2 Challenge

Right. The idea is to keep people on an even playing field; were we to allow any others people would be playing with players with different stats than those in the default database of the game. As we can't require people to install a certain database we say use original rosters or Unfaking 1. Arch has written up a quide on installing/playing from multiple databases and you could check that out to start a Challenge game even if your "main" game is running a different database.bruins72 wrote:I don't think they're allowing unfaking 3 on the current challenge (as far as I know there is only one challenge running, just two seasons of the same challenge). The last time the rules were posted we were allowed our choice of the default rosters or unfaking 1.
As for Challenges we just have Carolina running since we've has such a good response we're encouraging people to carry on to a second season with their teams. If you want to field a Carolina team read through all the instructions/setup Announce threads atop the Challenge Forum. You can still see how you did statistically against other GMs but with the late start you probably won't be able to place in the overall points determining the top 3 (see the Scoring thread).
There are two in-season bonuses after games 20 and 60. We did 20 quite a while ago and we'll be calculating the 60's set around midweek. So unless you finish through game 60 by then your only points will be the year-enders. Those points are only used to determine the overall winner for enshrinement in the TBL Hall of Fame.
It would still be worth it if you want to play as you can still see how you did in the categories vs the otehr GMs as well as tell the tale of your team in the Challenge thread. Most importantly though you could take your team into our second season Challenge.
