Post Your Best Trade!

Post by Konstantinov16 »

Okay, I know it sounds like a lame trade, but I traded Cujo from Detroit to the Ducks for Fedorov. Anyways, doesn't sound like THAT sepctacular of a trade, I mean, they both make 8 mil. The thing is, Feds has done awesome on my team while Cujo has struggled at best with the Ducks.

Anyways, post your best trade. I heard on a different forum this guy traded Kariya for Kovalchuk and Heatly. I'm still having trouble believing that one.

Yep, that was Cleon at the susie forums. We're all (admins are) former members and moderators of that forum. :)

I never was much of a trader. Too conservative. Plus I tend to play the Finnish league, with my fav team. Not much trading in Finland, because in here the trade can go thru only if both the players want to be traded as well, and usually they don't. It's all buying and selling players like in football.

Mario Lemieux for a ninth. He didn't do much for me as he was 42, but just the fact that the Pens would trade him for that made me laugh

1st 2005 pick for Kariya which means I got Crosby and he seems even better in EHM 2005.

My board always tells me how worried they are after my trades and my fans take to the street burning my picture in protest... I'll pay what I need to for players I know will make the squad better.

Can't say I make offers like other people are posting let alone have them accepted but then I'm usually working on borderline hopeless rebuilding projects so I don't have any stars to offer around in the first place... 'best' in my cases are usually moving salaries and/or getting younger talents.

at my current game i'm just starting the second season. so no much transactions happened. trading is no factor, while managing german teams. ;)

my favorite transactions were getting rid of corey hirsch (who is my backup goalie at the start and two foreign goalies with #1 potential are absolutely redundant) and signing german oldie christian lukes. this guy is a 35yo bothsided defenseman who normally has to play 3rd division in germany but i signed him as a backup d-man because my roster was way too thin and i didn't want to spent a foreign-player spot for a backup. lukes was the best german on the market but only supposed to end his career in the german minors.
astonishingly he played up big time ending as my 5th man with an average rating of 7.6

It's always great when a player far exceeds your expectations; so often it's the other way around.

I had a similar situation with Mattias Norstrom in my Minnesota game (our first Challenge team). He was brought in because he was reallly cheap and could hold his own with decent if not spectacular stats. Due to assorted injuries and other roster situations he was most of the time by third d-man and did quite well. Just couldn't get rid of the guy :-p

*bump*

In my first season as the GM of the Calgary Flames, I have (so far) made the following trades:

From Carolina: Erik Cole
From Calgary: Myles Rumsey (prospect) and my 2008 1st round draft pick

This trade has been a block buster for me as Cole has 41 points in 39 games. He is :groupwave:

My other trade was:

From Anaheim: Joffrey Lupul
From Calgary: 2nd round draft picks in 2006 and 2007

Lupul is still a year away from the bigs imo, but he is on the big team, and being used in a rotation basis on the right wing.

I have also acquired Scott Hannan from the San Jose Sharks, but I can't remember for who. I will post that tomorrow.

Dion Phaneuf for 2006 2nd round draft pick (I led the league at that point). Phaneuf became pretty much instantly the superstar, making me drop Redden to the second line.

Dany Heatley for Mark Recchi and 2008 3rd round draft pick. Recchi had been declining right from the beginning of the second season and had a whoppin' 6.05 average rating at the time of the trade. Yet Ottawa wanted to dump salary thus Heatley was mine :joy:

On the same game where I acquired Heatley, I also traded for Phaneuf. I gave up both Thibault (total crash right before the playoffs, ended up dropping from playoffs) and Gonchar who I felt wasn't contributing nearly enough to warrant the salary. Both the board and the fans were ready to lynch me after this trade. Now, 5 months later, Phaneuf leads all defensemen in both points, +/- and in average rating.

One of my "standard trades" has been trading for Cole and giving either some overpriced vet and a 3rd rounder or then 2nd and 3rd rounder. I do that in nearly every game I start as Cole is simply the kind of guy that you'd want to have in any team. He can do 1st line, 2nd line, PP and SH, and atleast in the beginning he's cheap too.

Has anyone even seen Joffrey Lupul be any good?, I traded him away straigth up to the blues in my 2.12 ducks game, which gave me the first overall pick in 2006. Used that pick to draft David Dwyer, who in my last season at aged 24 (in 2011) posted 105 points in 75 games with a 7.99 rating while being a + 71!.
Combine that with 25 points in 14 playoff games and a 8.21 rating, while being a + 8 before getting injured.
Scary part is that he is still improving all the time :D, while Lupul at age 28 has yet to have a full solid season, he has been mostly around 7.00 average with 0.5 ppg.
But my best trade in 2.12 has to be 3,4 and 5 round picks for Cam Barker in July 2006, he had 90 points as a defenseman in 80 games posting +35 and 7.66 rating in my last season (2011 presidents trophy win). But far more importantly he was a 7.75 19 points + 4 in 16 games in the playoffs helping me to my second Cup (first in 2009) and being runner up for the Conn Smythe :D.

Before the season started, I traded Bryan Smolinski to the Sharks in exchange for Alyn McCauley. That one turned out to be just great for my Sens, since McCauley posted 75 (28G, 47A) points, playing all 82 games.

I traded 3 1st rounders and 3 players I didn't want to Pittsburgh for Crosby when he was a group II FA, if I would have given him the contract I would've lost 5 first rounders.

I signed Bobby Ryan and Kari Lehtonen to offersheets.

Basically it was a second rounder for Bobby Ryan and a second rounder for Kari Lehtonen

Best trade has been
To Buffalo: Sami Kapanen and Turner Stevenson
To Philadelphia: Hugh Jessiman and RJ Anderson

That was in my second season, I am not entering my fourth.

After the trade Jessiman had 9 goals and 15 assists in 39 games, Kapanen was 2 goals and 8 assists in 39 games then signed with Dallas.

In his first full season Jessiman had 33 goals and 30 assists in 77 games
Stevenson has retired and Kapanen had 38 goals a 30 assists in 82 games for Dallas.

I traded RJ Anderson and a 2007 fourth rounder to Vancouver for second round picks in 2007 and 2008, as well as a 2008 third rounder. He had 10 goals and 30 assists in 81 games in his rookie season.

I think my best trade for my Boston Bruins so far has been this one:

D: Filip Kuba and a first round draft pick for D: Dion Phaneuf

...the first round draft pick was one I obtained in a earlier trade with the Lightning when I traded D: Radoslav Kuba for their first round draft pick.

This was nearly at the end of the season, but Kuba and Suchy were both on their last seasons and Dion still has 2 years for 1,3 Millions $ to play for my team.

my new game...

Post by Blugam »

I have just start a new game with Montreal. And it's going very bad... last in the league with 2 win in 13 games. I have try to trade, but they ask to many for their players. But I have finally be able a trade who can be interested.

To Chicago Blackhawks:
- MTL 5th draft pick in 2006
- MTL 5th draft pick in 2007

To Montreal Canadiens:
- Martin Lapointe

I know than this is not a big deal. But He have already 2 points in 4 games with me. Now, if I can able to trade Bonk and Sunsdtrom...

To LA: Steve Downie and Oskar Aro
To Philly: Henrik Tallinder and LA's 1st round picks in 2009 (4th Overall) and 2010 (3rd Overall later traded for Toronto's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd).

I drafted

Anton Lander
RW
Left Hand
Swedish
6'2" 191lbs
"Hard hitting winger from Sweden. His game is built around his strong physical play, good vision, defensive play, conditioning, and ability to get open."

Wes Bates
C
Left Handed
American
5'11"
176lbs (just after being drafted)
"He is a flashy center from USA. His game is strong in several keys areas, including his physical play, good vision, excellent defensive play, soft and quick hangs, excellent variety of shots, excellent hockey sense, conditioning, and outstanding ability to get open."
At draft time, he was called "A more talented version of Peter Forsberg."

I had three draft pick in 2010 and drafted two goalies with them. One was called, "A bigger, better version of Nikolai Khabibulin," and the other "'Like Martin Brodeur." So I have to have gotten atleast one of this picks right.

Sweet. What game year are you in Harper? Is that deal for a late-version Ovechkin or a vintage version? :-p

I'm in the 2010-2011 season and it was for vintage.

Why wait for 2.0 to develop when you can get the original that is already good?

I play as Philly.
