OK boys. We have now got to the 2 week point in our game. We have all had lots of time to evaluate our rosters. It is time to start looking to see what else is out there. What are you happy with? What are you needing to improve?

There are slim pickins on the waiver and free agent wire this season. Basically, warm bodies.

So....some of you have already, but for those who have not could you Please go in and set up your trade blocks.

I am sure noone can be 100% happy with their team. Lets try and see if we can improve them all a bit. Time for the trade searches to begin. When it comes to deals with me, please do not just REJECT things I offer.make a counter..I am not going to give you the best offer the first time, in many cases..although I do try and get things close to value for value. If you are unhappy with an offer...don't just reject...reject and counter...add a note as to what you would rather have (Don't ask for Iginla for a dman though)

You guys know the drill...I work to make my team better, just as you do. So...please bring on some deals!!!

Why is my last matchup (Prague Dead Parrots vs. Chicago Sun Bears) counted as win? The final score was 5-5-2, both teams scored 13 goals :-o
I don't complain, Joehelmer should :-p Just want to understand it.

To be honest, I don't think we know know what ESPN does. They have an option for one tie-breaker, which I have set to be Goals, but beyond that, it's a mystery.

We had a moment last year where this happened to CatchUp, and the only thing we could conclude is that it went to alphabetical order. However, it appears that your match-up counters that, and gave you the win (P vs. C).

Unfortunately, I'm stumped on how double-ties are handled. :dunno:

So I was wondering. We should have a

"Who won this trade thread?" Then at the end of the year we can look at it and see.

Trade #1

Takes effect Tue Oct 26.

Chicago Sun Bears trade: Jeff Carter C, Phi and Stephane Robidas D Dal

to

Burnaby Black Ice for: Mikko Koivu C, Min and Michael Ryder RW, Bos

I of course think I won. Joe clearly thinks he won. What do the others think?

Gah, I don't know. I was trying to analyse it and then pressed 'accept' too early before thinking. ](*,)

I was only looking at numbers at the moment.

Yes, batdad won it. But the difference is just slight. Time will show who really won.
Two accident losses for you, Joe. Our matchup and this trade  ESPN doesn't like you :-D

btw: I think I won that matchup because I was home team.

That's a good possibility. We'll have to watch out for this in the future, and see what it does.

So..I just did something I found interesting. I went through my roster of 23 to figure out how my guys got to my team. Here are my findings

9 Players drafted by the Black Ice...6 in 2010, 3 in 2009 (Marleau, Iginla,Luongo)
5 players acquired through trades (Seabrook, Lidstrom and Bourque in 2009, and Carter and Robidas 2010)

FA/Waivers-9 guys currently on roster, for which there is a constant rotation in and out except for Callahan, Boynton and maybe Gorges.)

Of my 2010 draftees...not one of them is going to challenge for a keeper spot..save maybe Visnovsky vs a possibly retiring Lidstrom.

Oh and if...big IF....freaking ESPN allows Marleau to keep his LW slot this season, could be on between Marleau and Bourque. Will be on between Carter and Marleau anyway.

Joe that is an awful trade dude - no offense. Carter is on a tear, so you'd better hope Koivu rips it up because Ryder is a bum. Still bitter because of his days on the Habs.

That said, I'm going to head over and update my trade block now, so maybe I'll be the next one on the receiving end of a batdad rip off. Hahaha. :-D

Joe---Couple things

1. Don't you worry about Catch Up's little opinion. He is having a tough time this week. He is upset because the day of the trade Mikko Koivu had an assist and 4 PIMs for me. Then the next day Jeff Carter lit up Buffalo with 1G and 2A and 6 shots, and Stephane Robidas took 15 min in PIM. And the score right now is 11-0-1 for me. So he is panicking.

That being said....point 2 is something you need to look at Joe.

2. You have Bill Guerin and Sheldon Souray on your roster. Neither of them is playing in the NHL. Neither is expected to be any time soon. I would be getting rid of them.

CatchUp--Stop worrying it is early early. You have 10 guys tonight, I have 5. But...have a look at your trade proposals... :-D

Just a quick note for Mr. Stinson...

The owner of Kent Mighty Turnips is apparently even more inactive than last season's owner of this team (cough*archi*cough). I have tried for two weeks now to get trade responses from him and have nothing. I also have noticed that his lineup has not been changed or adjusted for some time...I believe that this is becoming a concern.

If the owner of the Turnips is around---Could you please please do something? Show us you are alive?

What if he's acting the only way he knows after he saw what happened to Joe when you made a trade proposition to him and ripped his lungs out? He's playing dead and waiting for you to go away :-p .

I've been looking at the trading block and I noted that Chicago Sun Bears has only 5 d-men on roster. Aren't every team supposed to have at leat 6 d-men?

I'm trying to fix this. But I can't add more as the game says that I have a full bench. ](*,)

You have to drop an attacker to be able to acquire Dman from FA. Only 2 benched players are allowed (plus full lines).

btw: many high score wins happened this round

Yes...and the record was set and tied by myself and Marsac. Danny Heatley ruined what could have been a perfect game for me. Well...Heatley and the Ducks. had Anaheim managed 2 more goals or had Marleau scored the third goal instead of 5th...I would have won 12-0-0.

Trade update:

My new guys since Oct 26:

batdad free agent of the week. Raffi Torres. Pick him up intentionally as playing against Oilers. Expected maybe a scrap. Instead get a hattrick, a PPG, a GWG, 2 PIM and 6 shots. Atta boy Raffi. Your reward....back to free agency today.

Sorry Stinson...well not really. :-D

Sorry for the late reply, but you're correct: our roster requirements are our minimums.

ESPN will allow us to drop below the current roster requirements, but we still require teams to at least meet 4 LW, 4 C, 4 RW, 6 D, and 2G.
