Credit must go to Getzlaf for carrying the team on his back. Pavelec absolutley shined in the post season going 16-5 with a 2.58 gaa and a .914 SV% and 2 shutouts.
Congrats!!
Maybe I should reconsider Pavelec. I had sent him down to Chicago to get him some playing time and was going to focus on trading for goalie in the off-season.
During the season he wasnt so sharp. Just better than Mason. 31-13-4 3.36 GAA and a .886 SV% with 1 shutout. I won the season with high scoring
Well I'm through 40 games and probably having the worst season in Thrashers history. Worst special teams in the history of the NHL, nobody has been spectacular for any length of time, Antropov is leading the team with less then a point per game. Havent really taken any heart breaking injuries, a few here and there. Bogosian is out for 3 months with a broken shin or some stupid Adam Oates but should be back soon.
I've tried offense styles, defensive styles, tweaking my special teams in all sorts of ways and nothing is really clicking. Definitely lining up for a lottery pick, haha.
I'm in my second season in this challenge and I'm struggling. I've tried juggling my lines. Calling up players is just not working either. Mason and Pavelec are both incosistant. After finishing as the 7th seed last season, I'm 15th in the east. I'm not in deep though...only 8 points seperate 11th from 15th and most of those teams are just as incosistant as us. I'm probably gonna have to make a move at the end of the season. But one bright spot is Zherdev, he has been great since I've traded for him.
After finishing 2nd in the league in the second season, here is my little tips...
This team is full of monsters, let them play that way.
Boulton - Thorburn - Eager A line of Mack trucks driven by pit bulls.....let them loose!!! Been my shut down checking line, more like a crushing line.
As far as team needs, defense could use a upgrade but I traded for a 1a center (Mike Richards) to complement Antropov. Really solidified this team and eveyone spots/roles. It gave this team 2 very solid scoring lines and 1 huge checking line and a pretty decent 4th line that can add the odd goal (4th line gave me 34 goals on the season)
Ladd - Richards - Little = fast as bats out of hell
Kane - Antropov - Bergfors = good balanced line
Enstrom - Bogo = Bogo has been a monster and good speed to cover up for Enstrom mistakes (which are plenty)
Hainsey - Byfug = Byfug beast who eats monsters. Probably will win Norris trophy (15g 33a...set him on barrage on the PP point) but lacks the foot speed to go up against other top lines. Hainsey is a +23 and has speed to cover up for the beast who cant skate (must be hard to move that frame down the ice)
Blue, pretty much were spot on though a couple things I found. Rather than bunch up the three toughies I spread them out and found a lot of success that way. Antro Ladd and Bergfors were amazing. Two of them had 40 goal seasons my first year, and the other had 30.

Yeah depending on who i am playing I would substitute Modin for Boulton. But if I am playing the caps or Flyers (or other big team or had big superstars), I would put out the crash line to check their 1st, go berserk and encourage to fight. Fireworks!!
Just finished my first season. Last place overall, haha. 25-53-4, pretty terrible. 11% PP and 80% PK, brutal. On a bright side Antropov had a good finish, hopefully it continues next year. Ladd also came from nowhere, I need to find someone to compliment them. Pretty sure Peverly is bye bye.
Well im just about 20 games in season four. Mason retired in the summer, still the season preview had us first overall. I knew with mason gone id need another goalie at some point. I drafted the hasek regen but hes not ready. So i traded for varlamov, 8 games later i lose Pavelec for 4 months. and bergfors has rapidly improved.
Alright, so season one was very successful. The team took home the Presidents Trophy as well as the Stanley Cup. Coach Ramsey took home the Jack Adams. Mason won the Vezina, and the Crozier, and Antropov won the Conn Smythe. I drafted 30th overall. The draft class looked pretty ho hum in my game. I do think Seth Ambroz who I grabbed in the first round should turn out decent. He appears to be a two way forward with a bit of a mean streak. So he should fit in nicely. I ended up signing Scott Hannan in the offseason, and is at 1.83 for the season should be a nice addition to the blueline. I haven't pulled off a trade though. I'll wait till the season starts and see if I can use it to get a younger legit 2nd line player for either Modin or Peverly.
I finished in a tie for last with NYI, but they won the Lottery. But it didn't really matter, 3 of the top 5 ranked players were D-men. So I took one of them second overall. He may even be with the club next season. He should shape out to be a top 2 defensemen in the league. I also traded Burmistrov for Marc Savard, I know Savard is kinda small, but I need a playmaking center. I also signed Ray Whitney at 1.99 for two years to see if he can help spark the offense this season.

Good job!How far did you go in the playoffs?
I tried to sign Hannan too but he went somewhere else so picked up Boyton.

It says that he won Stanley Cup.
Ah missed that. Cup in the first season, pretty impressive!

Quite puzzled by this comment. The salary cap in Lidas 3.0 is at $59.6M, not at $59.9M.
