Hello all,
I've have some really good players who have played a really long time for my team but I've never been prompted by the game to retire their numbers and I don't know how to actively do it.
Can anyone shed some light on how to do this?
Thanks a lot
How to retire a player's number?

Yeah, this is one of the areas where the game really drops the ball. Say you've got a player that you draft and you sign him to your roster. He plays out his 3 year contract and you try to negotiate a new contract with him. He leaves your rosters when his contract expires in July but you sign him to a new deal in August. Well, he left your roster, so it's like starting over with a clean slate again when he rejoins your team. Oh and say you keep him signed and he never leaves your roster. That can still get messed up because if you bring up a player from your minor league affiliate and he just happens to share the same number (or is it favorite number?) as this player, the game clears the number from both players and asks you to assign them each a number. Even if you give your player (the one you'd like to see have his number retired) the same number that he originally had, the slate is once again cleaned and you're starting from scratch.

yea, my guy not only played his whole career in Toronto but allowed me to resign him before free agency before every contract expired. That rarely happens on a consistant basis and is a shame.
Same with coaches and staff too - for their "He's been with the team for X years" ...if only that was patched before it all ended

I've never seen a player get his number retired. So what I just do is whenever I feel a player deserves it, I'll just keep a mental note of it and never let another player use that number again. That way the number is unofficially retired. Just have to make sure that it doesn't get assigned to a player whenever you set numbers.
