Acadie-Bathurst defeat Windsor 4-1! First star honours would go to Acadie-Bathurst Titan goaltender Olivier Roy, who stopped 25 of 26 shots in the victory. Second star would go to Acadie-Bathurst Titan winger Bryce Milson, who scored a goal. Third star would go to Acadie-Bathurst Titan winger Brent Turnbull, who scored a goal.



Medicine Hat Tigers vs. Vancouver Giants

Medicine Hat defeat Vancouver 4-2! First star honours would go to Medicine Hat Tigers winger Linden Vey, who scored a goal, and an assist. Second star would go to Medicine Hat Tigers winger Emerson Etem, who scored a goal. Third star would go to Medicine Hat Tigers defenseman Sebastian Owuya, who recorded an assist.

Windsor defeat Medicine Hat 5-0! First star honours would go to Windsor Spitfires center David Pacan, who scored a goal, and an assist. Second star would go to Windsor Spitfires winger Kenny Ryan, who scored a goal, and an assist. Third star would go to Windsor Spitfires goaltender Jack Campbell, who posted a 21 save shutout.



Acadie-Bathurst Titan vs. Vancouver Giants

Acadie-Bathurst defeat Vancouver 5-4 in overtime! First star honours would go to Acadie-Bathurst Titan winger Marc-Olivier Mimar, who scored a goal, and two assists. Second star would go to Vancouver Giants winger Mark Reners, who scored two goals, and an assist. Third star would go to Acadie-Bathurst Titan defenseman Daniel Tanel, who recorded two assists.

Third star would go to Acadie-Bathurst Titan winger Jonathan Lessard, who recorded two assists.

A Trade/CHL Import Draft/Various Goings On [08-Feb-2011]

June 2007



June 5th

The IceDogs confirmed the completion of a trade with the Erie Otters, trading goaltender Max Bouffard, and the rights to defenseman Victor Piszczek to the Otters in exchange for winger David Broll.

Goaltender Max Bouffard, while under contract to the IceDogs, played most of last season with the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League's St. Catharines Falcons, playing in 57 games, and posting a 41-10-6 record, with a 2.83 GAA, and .894 SV%.

Defenseman Victor Piszczek played this past season with the Winkler Flyers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, where in 60 games he put up 55 (9+46) points, and was -2, with 74 penalty minutes.

Winger David Broll played this past season with the OHL's Erie Otters, where in 68 games he put up 53 (15+28) points, and was +22, with 160 penalty minutes.

The 2007 NHL Entry Draft was held today, and 4 IceDogs were drafted by NHL teams!!

RW Gabriel Landeskog - Nashville Predators, 1st Round (10th Overall)
D Dougie Hamilton - Toronto Maple Leafs, 5th Round (145th Overall)
D Mike Schwindt - Colorado Avalanche, 6th Round (163rd Overall)
LW David Broll - San Jose Sharks, 7th Round (205th Overall)

The IceDogs own the CHL rights to center Cole Bardreau, who was taken in the 3rd Round (71st Overall) by the Philadelphia Flyers, however, he has committed to play for Princeton.

The Montreal Canadiens spent the first overall pick on Drummondville Voltigeurs winger Sean Couturier!

The first OHL Player taken in the draft was Peterborough Petes winger Matt Puempel, taken 6th Overall by the Chicago Blackhawks!

June 27th

Winger Joel Armia, the IceDogs first round pick in the CHL Import Draft, has decided he will not be coming to North America. Armia was passed over in the NHL Entry Draft, despite being ranked #116.

This means that unless the Devils send down winger Henrik Messfeldt, the IceDogs will be going with winger Gabriel Landeskog, and defenseman Simon Gronvaldt as their foreign players this year.

Winger Gabriel Landeskog has been named Niagara IceDogs Fans Player of the Year. In 27 games with the IceDogs last season, Landeskog put up 35 (23+12) points, and was +9, with 18 penalty minutes. In 9 playoff games he put up 12 (4+8) points, and was +2, with 2 penalty minutes.

The Board announce that they expect the team to make the playoffs this season!

The 2008 Memorial Cup will be hosted by the Ontario Hockey League's Erie Otters!

Winger Darren Archibald has been recalled from his loan, and returns to the Vancouver Canucks. He is no longer eligible to play in the Ontario Hockey League.

The OHL released their 2007/08 Season schedule, and the IceDogs open the season travelling to play the Sudbury Wolves on September 21st, before returning home to play their home opener against the Oshawa Generals on September 22nd, and remaining at home to play host to the Brampton Battalion on September 24th.

The IceDogs announce the signing of goaltender Jean-Claude Regier from the Seaway Valley Rapids. Regier was the IceDogs 7th Round Pick (140th Overall) in the 2007 OHL Priority Selection.

Marc-Andre Maillette stopped 19 of the 20 shots he faced, and though the Whalers scored first, the IceDogs would score five unanswered goals to claim the victory!

2007 Training Camp/Pre-Season/Czech Under 20 Tournament

September 4th

Niagara IceDogs training camp opened today with physical fitness testing, showing exceptional fitness were tryout center Kaylen Pelletier, and center Freddie Hamilton, while winger Cameron Stewart, and center Myles Doan left something to be desired.

Team Blue defeat Team Red 3-1! Best performance was put in by defenseman Mike Schwindt, with honours also going to centers Freddie Hamilton, and Myles Doan.

Team White and Team Green skate to a 3-3 draw! Best performance was put in by center Steven Shipley, with honours also going to defenseman Simon Gronvaldt, and winger Kyle Woodhouse.



The IceDogs open their preseason at home, playing host to the Saginaw Spirit. Marc-Andre Maillette will get the start in goal for Niagara. Marc-Andre Maillette stopped 2 of 3 shots before leaving the game with a thigh contusion, giving way to Mark Visentin, who stopped 16 of 17 shots the rest of the way, and between the two Saginaw goals, the IceDogs poured in seven of their own in the victory!

Finland defeat Czech Republic 2-1! First star honours would go to Finnish center Mikael Granlund, who scored a goal, and an assist. Second star would go to Czech goaltender Libor Kasik, who stopped 30 of 32 shots in the loss. Third star would go to Finnish goaltender Riku Harma, who stopped 23 of 24 shots in the victory.



Sweden vs. Russia

Sweden defeat Russia 4-2! First star honours would go to Swedish defenseman Oscar Klefbom, who recorded three assists. Second star would go to Swedish winger Johan Larsson, who scored two goals, and an assist. Third star would go to Swedish winger Victor Ohman, who scored a goal, and an assist.

IceDogs center Freddie Hamilton has left the team, signing a 3 year contract worth $475K with the Nashville Predators. The IceDogs will retain his rights.



The IceDogs travel to play the London Knights. Mark Visentin will get the start in goal for Niagara. Mark Visentin stopped 16 of the 18 shots he faced, but though Niagara scored early in the third to tie the game 1-1, London would score late in the period to take the victory!

The Hockey News released their OHL Season Preview today, and the Niagara IceDogs (Team MVP: RW Gabriel Landeskog, Key New Face: D Alain Herrington) have been ranked 7th out of the OHL's 20 teams!

Favorites to win the J.Ross Robertson Cup this season are the Saginaw Spirit, though the Peterborough Petes should give them a run for their money! The Ottawa 67's, and Plymouth Whalers should be strong contenders, while the Barrie Colts, and Kitchener Rangers should struggle.

Team White and Team Blue skate to a 2-2 draw! Best performance was put in by winger David Broll, with honours also going to defenseman Simon Gronvaldt, and tryout center Voldy McAllister.

Team Green defeat Team Red 4-1! Best performance was put in by center Steven Shipley, with honours also going to defenseman Jesse Graham, and tryout center Kaylen Pelletier.



The IceDogs travel to play the Kitchener Rangers. Marc-Andre Maillette will get the start in goal for Niagara. Marc-Andre Maillette stopped 14 of the 15 shots he faced, and the IceDogs scored the first six goals of the game, and Kitchener never really threatened!

The IceDogs announce the signing of winger Dwayne Lefebvre from the Sioux Lookout Flyers. Lefebvre was the IceDogs 14th Round Pick (280th Overall) in the 2007 OHL Priority Selection.

The IceDogs announce the signing of center Kaylen Pelleter from the Soo Eagles. Pelletier was the IceDogs 6th Round Pick (120th Overall) in the 2007 OHL Priority Selection.

The IceDogs open their season, travelling to play the Sudbury Wolves. Mark Visentin stopped 21 of the 24 shots he faced, and though the IceDogs scored early in the third to tie the score 2-2, the Wolves would score twice more to take the victory!

Groups for the Group Stage of the World Junior Championship were drawn today, and Russia have drawn into Group A, with Czech Republic, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway.



The IceDogs return home to play host to the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors. Mark Visentin stopped all 21 shots he faced to record his first shutout of the season, and the IceDogs backed him up, scoring four goals to help secure the victory!

The IceDogs remain at home to play host to the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors. Mark Visentin stopped 18 of the 19 shots he faced, and though the IceDogs only led 2-1 at the end of two periods, they would score four goals in the third period to score a decisive victory!
