CHL ... Have you ever hosted Memorial Cup and/or draft?

Post by hockeysauce »

Pretty self-explanatory title... I play the CHL alot in this game (always start my "career" there as a former Minor Leaguer, and try to build my rep to an NHL job) ... I've started probably 4-5 "careers" over the years and have played upwards of 20 seasons of Major Juniors. I was wondering if anyone who has also played a lot of CHL seasons has ever had their team chosen to host either the Memorial Cup or at least your leagues draft. I have never, despite a huge amount of success at the Major Junior level.

The game always seems to choose this randomly, maybe you're just unlucky. :dunno: I remember once that in the NHL I got the draft. Never played junior though.

I've played a fair number of seasons with the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL, won probably a handful of Memorial cups but never hosted one.

In all the years I've played as Sudbury, I've never hosted the Memorial Cup.

I don't recall hosting the draft but i'm pretty sure i hosted the memorial cup one year as the Hamilton Steelhawks (previously the Kingston Frontenacs) Unfortuately my team was in a bottom feeder in the 'O' so we didn't do so well. This was along time ago though and never have hosted since...in any of my games.

Played about 10 seasons with the London Knights and never hosted one. I won 5 out of 7 finals. Really upsetting when a team that i beat in the O playoffs hosts it instead of me.

Well the host are selected before the season even starts. Usually (IRL) the team that is selected to host the Mem Cup is usually projected to be a strong contender, and/or usually are very active to make them selves a strong contender. It happens, but it is more rare to have the league champion host the cup. In the last 10 years it's happened three times. '05 (London), '06 (Moncton) and '08 (Kitchener).
