UW Badgers Win Frozen Four!

Post by flea »

Well, at least one good thing for Boston fans lately...

Boston University has just clinched the final of the Frozen Four, winning 6-5 against North Dakota.
BU forward Chris Collins scored a hat-trick and goalie Cory Schneider stopped 36 shots in a fast paced game.

Next are Maine and Wisconsin for the spot in the final.

GO EAGLES!!!

Just a little correction there. It's Boston College. We Boston University folks don't like them much. I'll probably root for them in the finals though, since it's always nice to have someone from the Hockey East division be the National Champs. We like to prove that Hockey East is the best darn hockey conference in the country, even if it isn't :)

Gratz to the Badgers. They definitely deserved to win that game. I thought they out-played BC for pretty much the entire game. They totally shut down Boyle and Collins and without those two scoring, BC has no chance.

A good game to watch though. I appreciate a good defensive battle as much as a high scoring game. And to see that it was less than half an inch from being tied with less than one second to go. That was amazing.

Congrats to the Badgers and to u Minstrel!!

Sadly over here in Europe there was no way to see the game, so the only thing I could find was some highlights about it.

At the end the nº1 seeded won the FrozenFour and it seems that they deserved it!!

Congrats again and hooray also for BC to reach the final!!

It really was an exciting game; we used to love going to Badger games when I was in school "back in the day" and a lot of great players as well as great Hawks have come through Madison so that's cool too. Always good to see throngs of people who love the hell out of their team and hockey as that's a bit few and far between around Chicago

I mean the diehards care, and the players care (they're great guys, I've met most of them) but the Wirtz' Dynasty has made it easy for the city, the city media, and especially the casual hockey fan to not care.

Here in Chicago we also have Atlanta's AHL team, the Wolves. Take a guess how much more the Hawks spend on promotions and advertising than the Wolves do? The answer? Negative five. An AHL team spends five times more to publicize their team and win fans than the NHL team does... and you can take a family to their games for the price of a single Hawks ticket! So seeing people crazy about the Badgers makes me feel good as a hockey fan.

Wow!!! I have heard that the direction of the BlackHawks is really bad, but I didnt know that it was soooo bad!!!

Thats really sad, having one of the original six teams in the city, but having it "kidnapped" by the owner and the directives (sp)!!!
Sometimes, when I see the amount of people who are going to Hawks games, I wonder why there arent more people watching it, but now I really wonder that there are so much watching it!!!

Hopefully that situation will change soon for u Hawks fans....I think u guys there deserve it!!

Don't forget the resurgence of the NFL in Chicago with the new monsters of the midway Bears (even though it pains me to say it as a Vikes fan)

The Bears are like the Cubs; they sell out every game and people would kill for tickets even if the team is out of the playoff chase at midseason. People talk about the Bears Superbowl team like it was yesterday not 20 years ago. The one resolute truism of sports in Chicago is that nothing else matters if the Bears are doing well. It's a Bears town; honestly the Bears were still 85% of the "talk" here even as the White Sox were on their way to the World Series.
