The Hart Trophy

Post by Systemfel »

So who do you think should win the Hart Memorial Trophy? As I see it, it's a three-horse race betwenn Kiprusoff, Jagr och Thornton.

My winner is Miikka Kiprusoff. It's scary how important this guy is for the Flames. I think there's no way Calgary would've been sitting on the top of the Northwest without him.

I voted for Thornton because of the difference he's made in San Jose since being traded there. Plus, Thornton will win the Stanley Cup now that he's left Boston... just to rub salt in our (Boston fans) wounds!

Without Kipper the Flames wouldn't even sniff the playoffs this year. With him they have a shot to go all the way.

I voted for Jagr because he has been the key to the Rangers' offense all year. With Jagr healthy, the Rangers will go deep into the playoffs.

I vote for Jaromir Jagr!!

I think he has been amazing all season long and hes the mayor reason why the Rangers return to playoffs.

Then I would vote for Kipper and JumboJoe, but Ovechkin MVP??? I like him very much, but MVP??? I think a real MVP should be one who leads his team to the playoffs and not to the top three in the draft.

Look what Ovechkin did with nobody around him though.

He has 100+ points and the next closest guy is in the 30's or 40's.

Jagr had Straka, Nylander, and alot of other big names on his team.

Thornton had Marleau and Cheechoo.

Ovechkin has... Ovechkin :-D

I agree Ovechkin deserves to at least be in the running as does Eric Staal actually.

Unlike other sporting leagues where MVP = League's Best Player in the NHL it really does mean Most Valuable Player to his team. That is how it is worded. So the question is NOT "Who is the league's best player?" the question is more like "Which team would be worst off if you removed a single player from his team". To me that is why my list would be Thornton, Staal, Ovechkin, Lundqvist.

The Conn Smythe is worded the same way which is why JS Giguere was absolutely the correct choice for that award for bringing his team all the way to the Cup final even though they did not win.
