The TBL Pledge & Play Playoff Challenge Game

As you may have seen in your email we are launching a completely custom totally fun Stanley Cup Playoffs fantasy game here at TBL!

This involves both PRIZES and helping give to CHARITY to make the world a better place!

It's called "Pledge & Play" as we are asking people to make a pledge to the American Cancer Society to be able to put together their 18 man Stanley Cup fantasy team.

We hope it will be fun and also raise a mess of money for the ACS; join us, will you? Please click on the 'KNOWLWDGE BASE' link in the banner bar and check out the "TBL 'Pledge & Play' Playoff Challenge" section for more about how to make your pledge and get your team. You can pledge anything you want and it will be directly through the ACS, we aren't collecting money.

Speaking of money... yes I said PRIZES! If you'd like to contribute to our prize pool; we suggest an Amazon gift certificate let us know. The more people that can contribute to more people will get a little something back for their giving to a good cause; which is just double cool. I have personally contributed a Blackhawks CCM jersey signed by great Hawk Hall of Famer Stan Mikita and the brothers have offered an Amazon certificate. On another site I was involved with that has users all around the world that system worked very well for a competition we held as everyone can reach Amazon. Anyone donating a prize will be able to have two teams in the Challenge instead of just one as an extra thankyou!

This, like my Chromeleon Skin is dedicated to my father who lost his fight with prostate cancer just over two years ago, and I just know he'd love it as we was a diehard hockey fan and never missed a chance to give something back to those around him.

If you'd like to play please go to the Knowledge Base and select your team. You can post it in the Competitions Forum. If you can make a pledge that's great, it doesn't have to be monetary. As I've said elsewhere if you're for example a smoker and would pledge to quit that's worth more than any monetary sum actually. Same for if you could volunteer a day at any local charity you want.

As I said in the email consider what you might spend this Saturday going out with friends. Consider staying home and enjoying being with your family instead and putting the money you might have spent as a pledge to charity. I don't want this to be a downer thing, I want it to be a positive thing. So if you can make any kind of pledge let me know via message but in any case feel free to pick and post your team so we can have fun with the game

I'd like to thank those of you who have been able to make/have contacted me saying you are going to make pledges to the ACS or any local cancer charity you'd prefer. As mentioned also suitable as a pledge would be if someone will pledge to quit smoking, or volunteer some of your time to help a cancer charity as volunteers are always welcomed. I've suggested people pledge a night out; in other words what would you spend going out on an average 'night on the town'? Consider if you would stay home instead one night and take the money you would have spent to a charity.

The announcement though is that anyone who wants to enter a team may. I'd prefer your considering making a pledge but this has never been about making people pledge in order to play. It will be a fun game to track your players in the playoffs. If you can make a pledge let me know in the recording thread or my message what it is you have or plan to pledge. Only those people will be eligable for prizes though.

Since we couldn't set things until the teams we've decided we're going to allow entries into the contest up to the start of the second games in the East series which means you have until 7pm US Central time Monday to post your team and consider if you'd also like to make a pledge in order to be eligable for prizes including a Stan Mikita autographed Blackhawks jersey, one of the greatest players of all time and Hockey Hall of Famer. In my charity event that inspired this idea through Blackhawk Charities last night our opening bid on the same item in a silent auction was for $150.00 and at the end of the night it sold for $340!!!!!
