Rec-League to the NHL!

Post by Manimal »

So, I was feeling rather bored with the latest challenge and wanted a new way to play and chose to create a Rec-league GM and start unemployed. I am using the Lidas 3.1 update(or rather a continued version as I am the one doing them ;))

As I have been reading on the forums, the easiest way to raise my rep is by taking national team jobs. Therefor I won't do this. Maybe if I am very un-succesful in a few season I'll change my mind.
I also made up a rule that I have to stay at least a full season with the team I get

When I started up the game I chose all leagues and realised that there are a lot of open jobs. I created myself as a Canadian, maybe that is an easier way to get a job, I don't know.
I applied to all open jobs and was offered several of them. Canadian juniors, NA minors, Finland, England, Slovenia, Norway, Denmark and even ne in the Russian Superleague!
I wanted an European team and decided to join Hvidovre IK of the Danish league. That league now has a rep of 9 and I figured it was a good place to start!

BTW, I call myself Sam Boni. Cool hockey name, eh? :-p

It seems Hvidovre IK(HIK from now on) is the worst team in the Danish League! I checked out their rep in the editor and they were far below the others. The team also has no transfer funds and is over the budget. The staff wasn't much good, either so I fired some of them.
It's hard to attract good staff to HIK, but I managed to sign a decent AGM and a head coach by the name Frederik Seier. Should be a sign of success as Seier is danish for victory!

The Danish Oddset Ligaen has no roster regulations whatsoever. I can sign as many foreigners as I want. This is not usual for European leagues.

The HIK roster is not very talented. The star player is Ondrej Steiner. A czech center that was drafted by the Sabres in 1992 but never went to America. There are also a few North American minor leaguers. One of them wanted out so I sold him to Milano Rossoblu in Italy. The european leagues don't have trades, they use monetary transfers mostly. I could have checked if they had a player I could have gotten back as exchange but since we were over the budget I sold him for money.

Oh, we don't have much fan support, either. I just got a news-message saying we've sold 15 season tickets. 15!

I haven't had the time to play lately, but now I'm on it again.

The Danish League has 36 games so there is plenty of time to heal small injuries, which we have gotten a few. Nothing major. There is also a knock-out cup in Denmark but unfortunately, Hvidovre was knocked out before I got the job. I have no idea wether the Danish teams compete in the Euro Champions Cup or the Continental Cup, we'll see.

I haven't signed any player yet as I don't have much salary room and the better players wants too much money. I have been using the try-outs, though. Nobody has impressed enough to earn a contract but I recently got a slovak winger called Arty Zunko and he had a good first game with us. I hope he'll sign with us
