I'm brand new to EHM2007, I started unemployed, and took over for OHL's Peterborough Petes after their GM got fired. I managed to make it to the playoffs, but lost my series 4-1 in round 1.

I also managed to land the GM spot for Japan's national team. So I'm GM for PP and Japan atm. I don't expect to win with Japan, but it'll help raise my rep, right? :-k

Got a pretty nice looking prospect coming up in my system right now:

Image

Traded to the Coyotes 30th Overall, 60th Overall, and a decent prospect for the 1st Overall. To make it better, the guy I originally wanted at 30th was still available at 41st.

Probably didn't matter anyways, the 'Yotes are absolutely terrible at drafting in this game.

I'm just a newbie at this, but how is that a "pretty" good prospect? I'd kill to have him on my team in the OHL ;)

I guess people in the NHL have much much better stats, eh?

Probably going to start a new game this week with the latest Lidas rosters, Buffalo having a new owner and more money will mean things may be a bit different to my previous saves :D

Have edited the DB for my personal use to move Atlanta to Winnipeg as otherwise it'd just bug me.

I am the Peterborough Petes and I think I'm finally getting a grasp on the game after one and a half seasons (took over half-way through a season) . I replaced most of the players, I did major rebuilding by trading away all my terribad players and/or a nice chunk of change for draft picks, I ended up with 29 draft picks heading into the season, with 8 being in the 2nd round. In doing that, I took them from getting 7th place out of 10 in the Eastern Conference of the OHL two seasons in a row... all the way to getting top in the entire league, with 103 pts with the Erie Otters being in 2nd with only 87 pts.

I then went on to win the J. Ross Robertson Cup and CHL's Memorial Cup. Winning the Memorial Cup in a 4-0 game in the finals. :)

My team's Head Coach, Mike Pelino won the Matt Leyden Trophy, for the Top Coach in the OHL. I also won the top executive of the year. Not sure if those awards automatically go to the Cup winners, though.

---

Since, IMO my weakest position is my Goalie, I used my first draft pick to grab, who I hope will be a good new Goalie. The rest of my team is staying pretty much the same, losing only a few, since it's mainly made up of the previous year's Draft picks.

I hope to land a job with another league soon, as I have set out to do what I wanted with this OHL team. I didn't think I'd be able to turn around a team this fast, going from barely making the playoffs to winning not only the OHL's playoffs, but the entire CHL's Cup in one season. I'm hoping to get an NHL job one day, wouldn't it be awesome to draft an awesome player to the OHL when he was 15, only to go ahead and draft him into the NHL?

Since I got a grasp on the OHL, I want to try the NHL, so I can also get into the money management side of things, I mean everyone making $1,600 per year, means I can grab as many of the good players as I can without worrying about salary caps, etc.

I went from being 36th Ranked GM in Canada to being the 6th ranked GM in Canada.

Im now into round 2 of the playoffs in my first season as the Leafs GM, having defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in 6 games to advance. Ill be in very, very tough in the 2nd round though as my next opponent is Ovechkin and the Caps. Ill have to hope they choke in EHM just like they do in real life! :-p

I think I can give them a good run as I really bolstered my defence at the trade deadline-having acquired Ryan Suter from the Nashville Predators and Alex Edler from the Vancouver Canucks. My defence is now insanely deep, and hopefully Ive got enough firepower up front. My forwards definitely arent at the same level as the caps, but if my D can contain them I should have enough scoring to get the job done. Ive finally got a healthy roster, and my lineup now looks like this:

David Booth - Mike Richards - Phil Kessel
Trent Hunter - Mikhail Grabovski - Nikolai Kulemin
Nazem Kadri - Dainius Zubrus - Colby Armstrong
Craig Adams - Wayne Primeau - Eric Godard

Ryan Suter - Dion Phaneuf
Tomas Kaberle - Alex Edler
Luke Schenn - Adam Pardy

I'm playing with Lightning and I've very unlucky player, he got injury in the beginning of training camp and was ten days out. Then just before season started, he got new injury and was ten days out again. Overall he was out of my first 6 games and when he was healthy in 7th game, he got assist and.... injury in his 9th shift. Now he will be out for next ten days, again.

And who that player was? No it wasn't Salo, it was Steven Stamkos, who looks like to have not-so-usual 2nd season curse.

Disaster struck in round 2 of the playoffs. My captain and first line centre Mike Richards went down to injury, and we got eliminated by the Capitals in 5 games :-(

Oh well, not a bad shwoing for my first season. Took the Leafs to 3rd place in the conference and round 2 of the playoffs. Ill try to add some help over the summer, and hopefully my young players keep showing improvement and we'll be back next season!

After bringing Peterborough Petes in the OHL the winners of both the OHL's Playoffs and the CHL's Memorial Cup two years in a row, I've decided to move on, and took a job with AHL's Chicago Wovles. I hope I can use this as an opportunity to get into the NHL.

I also noticed my star player won a bunch of awards, too. Like MVP, Best defenseman, etc. I wish I was an NHL team right now, so I could draft him :D

I'm playing with Flyers at 09-10 season and I'm having serious injury problems.

31.10.09 Jeff Carter out for a month with a MCL sprain.
1.11.09 Darryl Sydor out for a month with a broken twist.
12.11.09 Alexander Sulzer out for 2 weeks with thigh strain.
18.11.09 James van Riemsdyk out for 2 weeks with ACL sprain.
20.11.09 Kimmo Timonen out for 10 days with goin strain.
23.11.09 Tomas Kopecky out for one week with anterior knee pain.
24.11.09 Mike Richards out for few days with a stubbed finger.

So I've to play without 2 1st line forwards, 2nd line forward, 2 4th line forwards and 1st, 2nd and 3rd line d-men. :help:

However, I've 6-4-0 on my last ten games (it's 26th November) and my team has raised to 10th in East, but I have played 1-5 games less than the others in West.

Just won the 2045 Stanley Cup with a perfect mix of vetrans and young guns, this team should easily challenge for the Cup next year (we won in 2044 too) as basically no one will leave the team.

Actually, one player will, and he is going out in style. Pier-Luc Lacasse was definately one of the league's rising stars: only 24, prototypical power-foward, 294 points in 255 games, Selke and Masterton winner, named captain at age 22... picture perfect right? Not really, as soon as he got the 'C', Lacasse started skipping practice once or twice a year, and everytime I warned him, he got mad. Yet, this season, he accepted his warning and said he would improve his behaviour... Then, he proceeded to skip practice in the middle of the Stanley Cup Finals! I fined him, he got mad, I benched him for the rest of the series, which we thankfully won...

Needless to say, he wasn't gonna play for me, but when I shopped him around, I didn't get great offers... the best I could find was Boston's 1st rounder (25th). Firtunately, I had cap space available for the next season, so I could patch Lacasse's spot with a UFA, but getting a late first round pick for a young impact player didn't seem appealing...

On draft day, the two players I was targeting with my pick (30th) were still available so I did take Boston's offer and snagged both youngsters (a small American center and a big Finnish winger)... oh well, we'll see I guess.

Hoping we win again next year before the team explodes... I got a couple of big raises coming next off-season, and a few more the following. The joys of salaray caps! :)

Awesome! I've never gone that far in a game before. What team are you playing with right now? How many different teams have you managed? (Sorry if you posted the answers to those questions further up the thread)

That's interesting, I'm also in the year 2045.
Been with the Canucks my entire career. I've considered changing teams a couple times, but I'm way too attached to this team to do so.
I've won 26 cups..
I'm also beginning to think it's darn well near impossible to get a jersey retirement...

Just finished the 2011 season with the Bridgeport Soundtigers. Started the season TERRIBLE, something like 1-12. Ended up with 106 points for the season, barely edging out Hartford (105 pts). I lost every game against Hartford in the regular season but switched up my tactics and beat them in the Semi's 4-1.

Lost Stamkos and Evander Kane to the Islanders and still went up 2-0 on Hamilton in the finals. Hamilton won three straight, I won Game 6 and then laid an egg in Game 7, losing 6-0.

Started up a new season today. Looks like I'm going to have some serious issues with the Veteran Rule.

Just finished the 2022-23 season with PaKa in the Suomi (fin3), finished in 5th one point out of playoffs. Applied and was hired in Norway with Lillehammer, my first game was the last regular season match, which we lost and ended the season in 10th place (otherwise known as last), had no problem surviving the relegation round against two horrible teams from division1.
Lillehammer roster is decent, includes Greg Nemitz, Mark Fayne and a few other real players in their mid-late30s. the one problem is the awful goalie who is under contract for another year at $130,000, third highest salary on the team. I changed his status to not needed and made him available and i'm really hoping someone takes him off my hands. I have to remember to lower his transfer fee next time i play. i have no doubt i can find someone better at half the price.

I finally got cracking on a new save around the draft, updated the Lidas DB with the trades from around that weekend - Richards, Carter, Regehr etc, but not anything further like Ehrhoff and FA - and kicked off as Buffalo again.

Made it to game seven of the ECF but despite coming back from 0-3 down to Washington, I couldn't complete the turnaround and went down 4-3 to the eventual Cup winners. Drafted Sven Bartschi with my pick but also picked up Daniel Catenacci, Seth Ambroz and Rocco Grimaldi with later picks. I did sort of want to pick the guys Buffalo picked irl but they weren't available in all but Catenacci's case.

Roster looks like this right now, 15 or so games into season two.

Thomas Vanek - Derek Roy - Jason Pominville
Tyler Ennis - Luke Adam - Drew Stafford
Ville Leino - Paul Gaustad - Ales Kotalik
Jochen Hecht - Maxime Talbot - Joel Ward

Robyn Regehr - Tyler Myers
Jordan Leopold - T.J. Brennan
Mike Weber - Andrej Sekera

Ryan Miller/Jhonas Enroth

Leino - acquired by trade for Steven Shipley
Talbot - acquired by trade for Connor Knapp and a 4th round pick (deadline pickup as pending UFA)
Ward - free agency

I could've spent salary on more FA pickups but I like Adam and Brennan enough to give them a good run and they're paying me back handsomely, with Adam laying on chances for Stafford, who has 13 goals already this season. I've had problems with injuries on D though, with Regehr and Leopold both out. That means I've had to use Brayden McNabb, Dennis Persson and Alex Biega already. :D

Bloody hell a single injury has hurt me a lot. Regehr broke his leg so missed 3 months and because my D depth then took some hits my form has been inconsistent at best. Fortunately the other teams in my division are 12-13-14-15 in the East so I'm still a 3 seed at mid-season but blimey I need to sort things out. Luke Adam hasn't really worked out yet at 2C so I'll need to get someone in. Got the cap room but so do most teams meaning I'm likely to have to trade a premium.

In my 5th season with the New Jersey Devils, Brodeur retired shortly before the season and left me screwed as I had no starting goaltender. I scrambled to make a trade and was able to acquire the rights to Jonas Gustavvsson (sp?) luckily he signed. My back up is Mikko Toskinen, he sucks.

Lines:

Kovalchuk-Zubrus-Vrbata
Parise-Zajac-Duffy
Elias-Josefson-Sjostrom
Shelley-McNeil-Pelley

Tallinder-Sarich
Liles-Mayfield (draft pick)
Urbom-Volchenkov

The Monster
Toskinen

Season is going alright, I'm 6th in the East right now but I can tell with an elite goalie my team would be at the top of the conference. I don't think I'm going to get the goaltending I need for a cup (still haven't won one), so I'll just see what happens. I know by next year I plan to sign a starting goalie with my 8 mil in cap space

Just finished my first season with the Ducks using the 2006-07 rosters with the unfaking database. I've tried to keep the trades as realistic as possible through out the season, the only blockbuster move I made was when the Flyers approached me with a trade for Bobby Ryan, I got M. Richards, A. Picard and a 3rd rounder in the 2007 draft. I didn't really need Ryan since I had a lot of depth on the right side and needed a good centre to step in on the second line if McDonald or Getzlaf got hurt. I had used Picard from a rookie on my cup winning Flyers team so I knew he was a good prospect who could produce even without much development. Other than that, I took Delmore and Stevenson off of waivers and signed Bondra as a UFA at the start of the season so I had pretty much the default line up for most of the season, the Ryan trade was a week before the deadline. For tactics, I used the Playmover Barrage tactic but it's effectiveness declined at the end of the season causing me to lose the President's Trophy to the Flyers by two points. Calgary also took the top of the Western Conference by 1 point which was a little disappointing since I was hoping for first seed in the playoffs. Prior to the playoffs, I changed to a modified version of the Slapshot tactic that I created by combining it with the PK and OT settings from the Barrage tactic. I finished out the season with 112 pts and the only team to score 300+ goals. I also had the best PK and PP in the West despite all of the late season losses.

My players did fairly well with Selanne leading the scoring for my team with 99pts (47G 52A) and his linemates McDonald and Kunitz right behind him with 93pts each. Niedermayer lead my defense with 63pts (26G 37A) he also was awarded the Norris and the Hart. Most surprising player was O'Brian who was on his rookie year, scoring 27pts in 43 games before taking a season ending injury which destroyed his chances at the Calder. Dany Heatley lead the league in scoring with 127pts and the goal scoring with 52.

The regular season was a pretty straight forward one, but the playoffs were one of the most epic I have played so far. I was up against the Blackhawks in the first round and took them down in five games, I lost the first away game. This left me to play either the Oilers who were 8th seed and Calgary who were the 1st seed. I was dreading facing Calgary so early on and Getzlaf picked up an injury that left him out for a week but the Oilers bailed me out by pulling off a miracle OT win in game 7 to put the Flames out. I wasn't concerned about the Oilers at all, even with Getzlaf on day to day injury, I had Richards to fill in and Bondra had been lighting it up after I promoted him to the second line and dropped Perry to the fourth due to lack of production. Everything was clicking great, Perry found some chemistry with Travis Green who was on fire scoring a point a game while averaging just 6-7mins of ice time. We took a 3-0 lead in the series straight away but then just when everything seemed to be working perfectly, it all came crashing down. The Oilers took game 4 at Rexall and injured both Green and Selanne, Green was a minor one week injury, but Selanne was out for a month and unlikely to return for anymore playoff games. This forced me to put all of my faith in Bondra who had previously been out for 3 months in the regular season but he was leading the playoffs for goals and points so I moved him up to the first out of hope he would still be able to score with McDonald and Kunitz as his linemates. On an upside, Getzlaf returned for game 5 and we dispatched the Oilers 8-2 in Anahiem. This left us to face San Jose in the conference final, another team I was dreading after they hammered me at the end of the season. Shockingly, even without our star scorer, we took out the Sharks in 4 games giving my team some time to recover. Green returned and I promoted him to the third line with Pahlsson and Stevenson to try and create a shut down line that could score too. Meanwhile in the East, it was the Rangers against the Flyers, I didn't want to play against either but the Flyers were far stronger in the regular season so I was hoping they would lose and that is just what happened, luckily it went to game 7 giving my team a huge break and Selanne began training again but was still at least a week away from playing.
The final started out great, I had home ice advantage so we quickly took a 2-0 lead, then we won game 3 convincingly, it all seemed too good to be true and it was. The Rangers took game 4 with ease which I wasn't worried about, I had lost one road game against the Blackhawks and the Oilers, then thumped them in game 5 back in Anahiem. Game 5 didn't go to plan, we lost in OT sending it back to Madison Square Garden, yet still I was not concerned, we beat them at home in game 3 so I was confident, maybe too confident, we took a hammering forcing game 7. The Rangers had battled from 3-0 down, I was worried now, comeback's like that would worry any GM. However, another miracle occured, on the morning of game 7, he was ready to play, all thanks to Philly forcing the Rangers to a 7 game series while my team rested. I was still nervous, even with my full line up, I had to move my lines around taking Bondra off the top line to fit Selanne back in. Bondra was leading my team in points but had played well on the second line with Chistov and Getzlaf/Richards and it didn't seem smart to limit Selanne's ice time in such an important game. Game 7 went to OT with Bondra finally putting it away off a pass from Kunitz to give is a 4-3 win and the cup.

I don't normally get worked up over this game because I often lose the cup to the Rangers in the first season but with everything that happened, battling against all odds, I got my first ever cup in season 1. I almost ran around the room cheering and I'm not even a Ducks fan. I just hope season 2 goes a little smoother as i can't handle another nail biter like that in the finals again.

Another season, another elimination from the playoffs, this time in the first round due to awful goaltending (Lindros you Gustavsson). I traded the rights to a LW to the Islanders for Pascal Leclaire, hoping for a better result.

My amazing line-up:

Kovalchuk-Zubrus-Kotalik
Parise-Zajac-Duffy*
Bergenheim-Josefson-Sjostrom
Pelley-Kennedy-Zharkov

Liles-Sarich
Tallinder-Mayfield*
Volchenkov-Salmela

Leclaire
Toskinen

*Draft picks

Will the Stanley Cup return to New Jersey? After 5 seasons of trying, I'm hoping the 6th time is the charm!

Yes, I'm using my tactic. I coach them myself. But, I usually don't do much. I play with commentary at high speed, and show only important highlights. It's like playing old CM 01/02. Small coaching jobs like changing goalies if necessary and put line-matching on between periods if I feel like I need it. Or sometimes other small changes.
