Lidas Roster Prob

Hey all,

My version won't seem to update players to their new DoB!!! e.g. Tim Thomas is still born in 1972. My main problem is ALL my photo's are config'd to their new DoB's so I don't have any pic profiles to look at in the game itself....really bugging me, any help is appreciated for a novice user.

Are you selecting the correct database when you start a new game?

yes, i've tried lidas1.0, 2.1, 3.1, the original database.....same thing. All my players still have their original DoB's!!!! Am I doing something wrong from downloading?? A small walkthrough would be appreciated incase I'm missing something.

Just thought, still using freeware, do I need to upgrade to full licence before I can use pics? Funny that the most recent roster updates still work ok though?

I thought you couldn't update to the latest patch (3.0.4) unless you had a licensed copy? And you need 3.0.4 to select a different database when you start a new game.

The 3.0.4 patch installed perfectly with the freeware AND I get a choice of what database I'd like to use, i.e. standard/default OR Lidas "whatever version".......just can't work it out. I used to play this game religiously back in the day and never had any problems, it's always been the Lidas programmes that have given me problems (No offense), I'd really like to start using his programmes properly if I can ever get past this annoying glitch of marrying up the pics with DoB's

If you're able to choose which database you use then you should be able to use the Lidas DB. The path that you're extracting the zip to should be something like this...

C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\data\database\Lidas_3.2

There should be 46 files in that folder.

I just extracted the new Lidas_3.2.zip to this folder. Then I went to start a new game. Once I clicked start a new game, I was asked to choose a DB. I chose Lidas 3.2 and it created a game. Now if I go into the Boston Bruins and look at Tim Thomas, his birthday is in 1969. Now your photos are still going to be using the 1972 date. Using a new version of the Lidas DB isn't going to change the photo dates for you.

I totally get what you're saying, as far as updating rosters etc, it's not an issue. What my gripe or rather puzzlement is over is....The DoB's are completely out of whack, when using Lidas_3.2, Thomas is born in 1970! I have downloaded most of the facepacks and not one of them have his DoB at this setting. Obviously if this rule is the same for most of the other players then I'm gonna end up the same way in that NO ONE will have a pic by their name in the game, which is really annoying. I have 3 DoB's for Antero Niitimakii for example, in the game his DoB is 1976, but all 3 of my pics list him as 78, 79 & 80 respectively. I must be missing something really simple, or do you recommend I uninstal the game and re-do it all??

The player DOB in the game are going to change when you use something like Lidas DB. Because the game has a hard coded start date of 2006, Lidas and Manimal have had to adjust the players' birth dates so that even though the game says it's 2006, Tim Thomas (or whoever) will be as old as he is in 2011. Tim Thomas is 37 right now. That's what the Lidas DB has done. It's made him 37. If this wasn't done, we'd be forever stuck with the rosters as they were in 2006 and many young stars still playing in junior.

Now because of this "aging", it messes with the players' birthdates. So this will cause the player pictures to not show up in the game because the pictures are named for the player and his DOB and that's how the game matches them. So the birth year is going to be wrong on all of these pictures.

This explains how the facepacks in the download section work. It also mentions the season. That's what season the cards are dated for. So far I don't think anyone has made any for the 2011-2012 season but I believe there was a utility to "age" the photos in a batch process. I don't remember where it is though. You might want to try a search.

To be honest with you, I stopped bothering with the player pics a couple years ago. It just wasn't worth my time to keep up with them. Plus, with player movement, the pictures can become out of date rather quickly. Sure, they're nice to have but for me they're not an essential part of the game.

Right, got ya!!!! My understanding has grown haha....

I'm just a bit of a stickler for the faces to go with the names/bio etc, but not to worry. Hopefully someone in the future will indeed post new pics to compliment the roster updates.
