Hey does it matter that our AHL team, The Cornwall Aces, don't have an arena? It just says "Unknown." :dunno:

Yeah, when I saw it I actually simmed ahead to Nov 1st (for testing purposes) and they are still having people show up at the games (like 7000) and making money... They just don't have any attendance rating under history. Also, players attributes are increasing from practice, so... I think it will be fine. We just use the AHL team to develop our guys anyway.

So I'm setting up my lines and this team is seriously offensively weak. Most of my offensive talent are rookies that haven't developed their skills yet. I've got some decent 3rd line guys there. I've also got Nolan and Simon, who are both pretty old and shadows of their former selves. Visnovsky and Hejda are pretty good on defense but then you've got a bunch of bottom pairing guys and no real 3-4 defensemen. We're also got the soon to retire Foote. I'm pretty satisfied with the goaltending. Huet isn't very young but he'll do for a couple years at least. Garon is a serviceable backup. We've got a glut of goalies on our AHL affiliate though and no room to send them to our ECHL affiliate. I'll have to try to loan a couple out so that they get playing time.

I haven't advanced a day but the board expects us to make the playoffs. Our AHL affiliate is expected to be serious contenders for the Calder Cup.

This is going to be interesting!

Have you guys noticed Manimal's extra work with the staff? There should be some familiar names...

It would be smart for everyone to take another look at the challenge rules before starting the new challenge...

They retire as players. They should still be there as staff.

There seem to be a lot of players in the last year of the contract.....if I resign one of these players sometime before/during the 2006-07 season is the new contract "in addition to" the old contrract, or does the new contract immediately "replace" the old contact? Thanks

Nice job Manimal! Most definetly familiar names for me....the Stastny brothers have done well for themselves!...I think I'm gonna name my AHL GM "Richard Brodeur", Nordiques goaltender from their WHA days in the 1970s

The big question is what to do with Hall and Seguin? Send them back to Juniors for a year to grow, or throw them to the wolves?

My current plan is to play them together on my top line with Bernier on the RW. They're the offensive talent on this team. I'm not into the regular season yet though, so we'll see how well that works.

Just finished setting the lines and tactics, training camp starting in a few days as well. Not really sure what to expect, this team seems to be lacking depth in scoring and proper 2nd pair defensemen as well. I guess Huet will do the job for now, as he's really the only decent choice.

Interesting question regarding Hall & Seguin, not really sure if I'll play them in 1st, 2nd or 3rd line. Guess I'll do some experimenting during exhibition games.

I'm thinking I'll experiment with them during my exhibition games too Ippo.

Here's another question: What do I do with 7 goalies? I guess loan some of them out? :-k

Edit (to add this) --

"So far the Cornwall Aces have sold 58 season tickets as fans get ready for the new season."

I am having difficulty getting the Nords rosters into play in the game. I have downloaded, and am ready to add into the game, but not sure how to do it. I have a whole bunch of individual files not like in the past where you just added the 3.1 folder in. Not sure how to go about this this time. I always need the readme file to get things working. There is not one this time that I can see, save for the logos. So without help (some kind of instruction manual right from the start where you download the files, I am going nowhere in this one.

Hey Batdad, when you extract the downloaded database folder you have a separate "Nordiques" folder and a zip file with the logos (NA - Challenge 21 Logo Pack). That "Nordiques" folder is the database, just put that folder into the main database folder with all of the "Lidas" dbs. The thing that's different is that Manimal named it "Nordiques" instead of "Lidas 3.1 Nordiques." (the second alternative was probably too long)

I've noticed that odd thing with the Cornwall season tickets too. It must be something tied to them having an "unknown arena". I don't think it's a big deal though.

B-diddy, just follow what Tim posted and you should be fine.

I'm starting to see how difficult this is going to be. I've started off 0-1-2. Maybe I need to move Seguin and Hall down to the second line?

SO the Nordiques file is a totally separate db? I assume it is. Anyway...do I have to unzip it? I don't get a folder and am getting a lot of things for extraconfig file etc. Just files, no folder.

When you open the zip file, there should be a folder called Nordiques (which you just drag right into your databases folder) and the logo pack zip file. You'll need to follow the directions in the logo pack zip file to install those. The Nordiques folder just needs to be put in your databases folder. You probably double clicked on that folder and now you're seeing all the files inside of it.

Pre-season was ok:

4-1 vs TB
7-1 vs WSH
2-3 vs NJD
1-4 vs BUF
7-5 vs MTL

After 3 games we're 1-2-0 and the line-up looks like this:

Hall-Seguin-Bernier
Pouliot-Couture-Bergfors
Pyatt-Lapierre-Nolan
Simon-Bolduc-Rypien

Hejda-Visnovsky
Picard-Foote
Cumiskey-Sopel

Huet
Garon

So far our 1st line hasn't been doing much, but Couture's line has been our main weapon in offence and I might drop Hall & Seguin to 2nd line if they don't improve.
