Baie-Comeau Drakkar

Post by Wild94 »

August 15th 2006

Hello Todd

Its Dominic , whats new ? I've been really lately, I heard about the Patriotes job, that really sucks, but they're a clown organization. So I've got some news for you I was recently offered the GM job of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the QMJHL, I gladly accepted it. Its going to be a very hard job as I have alot of work to do, news owners have just bought the team, they both played their Junior hockey in Baie-Comeau, the owners are Joel Perrault and Bruno St-Jacques. They fired all the staff and I need to hire news ones. Which gets me to my first order of buisness, I would like to offer you the position of head coach of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. I'll fax you the details later.

I need a quick response from you as I need your input on what type of team you want and how we should build it. Obviously many top teams are upset about this but I'm thrilled, the owners would prefer a young team. We will however have to convince everyone to report here.

Baie-Comeau is a small remote town in Quebec, which is only accessible by ferry or by plane. Its a french speaking town with no english school's, in reality theres little to do in Baie-Comeau, french speaking players rarely want to play here, let alone english ones or Americans.

I eagerly await your response, By the way the owners have restircted the amount of trades I can make, I'm aloud 3, 1, 1for1 trade, one Import for Import trade and one normal trade. We can also only have 4 18 year olds and 2 19 year olds, the owners don't want any overager's .

-Dominic Giroux
GM, Baie-Comeau Drakkar

- Paul Stock

August 18th 2006

Hi Paul

Glad to have you on board the press conference is on the 20th.

GM of Baie-Comeau
-Dominic Giroux

August 20th 2006

Paul Stock is the new Baie-Comeau coach, Drakkar to pick 1st in the Q dispersal draft.

GM DominiC Giroux introduced Paul Stock to the media today, they fielded no questions, the fate of the franchise rests on their ability to coach and develop players , if they fail, the Drakkar will leave town, fan support is wearing thing, a season tickets sales are at 100. The team will be young but hard to play against.... what does that mean ? Well were going to find out.

GM Giroux, keeps busy while making moves.

Its been only 5 days since Dominic Giroux was hired and he's already made a flurry of moves. He's been busy recruiting players and staff alike, while making a couple of trades.

Here's a detailed list of the moves made by GIroux so far:

Trades

#1
To BAC
Cedric Henley

To VIC
Guillame Langelier Parent
2007 7th round pick

# 2

To BAC
Ilya Mashentov
Radovan Pulis

To BAT
Simon Olsson
Antoine Laperriere

#3

To BAC
The rights to:
Anthony Coucelles
Phillpe Saviuk
Devan Gunn
Paul Jr Bourbeau
Marc-Antoine Carrier
Marc-Antoine Frechette
Jean Christophe Laflamme

To MTL
David Cliche
Maxime renaud

Giroux on the trades, Cedric ( Henley) is an up and coming player in this league, I feel that he can really help us now and in the future. Ilya Mashentov and Radovan Pulis are 2 Imports who wanted out of BAT and said they'd report here, Ilya is a 17 year old Russian, we believe he can play on our 3rd line, Radovan might play on the 1st line, Rads is here to help us reach the playoffs this year, his fate after that is unclear as he's stated he'd like to return to Slovakia.

The players we acquired from Montreal could help us here if they decide to report, I plan on visiting them each individually, in order to convince them to play in Baie-Comeau.

Staff Signings
Karan Nesen ( Scout)
Alexander Wikseman ( Assistant coach)
Moritz Seifert ( Scout)
Mathias West ( Scout)
Harry Lund ( Head Coach)

Harry Lund was abit of a suprise hiring, its expected that Todd Stock will be named assistant GM.

Player Signings:
Mathieu Leclair (G)
Jean-Francois Gosselin ( RW)
Mario Boilard (LW)
Ryan Labrie (RW)
Maxime Simard (RD)
Yoann Mathieu (LD)

Its expected to be a crowded and intense training camp in Baie-Comeau.

Todd Stock named Baie-Comeau Assistant GM !

In a somewhat surprising move Todd Stock is now the Drakkar assistant GM, the surprise is that Stock was initially expected to be hired as head coach of the Drakkar. Stock and Giroux go way back, they've also worked together before. It's going to be interesting to see if they can turn the Drakkar around. At the press conference Giroux introuduced Stock to the media and fans they also give a description of their plan for the team and goal for the year. They also announced the Gabriel Verpalest has decided to go play Junior A in Prince George.

GM Giroux on the Drakkar' future: I think we have potential, theres a few really good players here, obviously some are below par, this year we won't be making many if any more moves, we intend to cut some 18 and 19 year olds, there will be no OA's as were getting younger, unless a great deal comes along or a player we really like is suddenly available were done for the year with trades. This year will give us a chance to see what we have, where our strengths lie and who fits here and who does n't. Next year we'll insert the crop of rookies into lineup, and maybe make a big trade or 2 in order to make it to the playoffs. And the year after should be our go for it year where we'll try hard to win not only the Q but the Memorial Cup aswell.

Our goals for this year are:
Trade vets for picks/prospects/young players
Acquire a top young goalie
Develop our own players
See what we have
Finish with 45 points or higher.

In some rather dissapointing news, Phillipe Saviuk and Grant West both decided to play Junior A with the intent of playing NCAA instead of reporting to Baie-Comeau. Brian Cote has stated he will not play in Baie-Comeau.

In some positive news Gabriel Verpalest has decided to attend training camp for 48 hours.

The Drakkar have also hired the following people:
Aron Kinch (scout)
Bjorn Markkannen (trainer)
Gustav Trygg (trainer)
Joe Frederick (assistant coach)
Jake Goertzen (Scout)
Andrew Pederson (Scout)

Finally the Drakkar announced that Anthony Courcelles had signed with them.
