Save MK's rink!

Post by archibalduk »

Posted by The Great King Dude on the SI Forums:
Over the past few days, we in Milton Keynes have learned that our Rink may be knocked down, unless the council provide definite answers about the building of a new rink.
We in MK have already started action in protests to try and urge action from the council. One of these such actions is an online petition.
I noticed just know that in the over 600 signatures we have, Risto Remes is one of them, so I thought I'd post to try and urge any of you, who love the game of hockey to help us.
Just think, it could be your rink next, what would you do?

If you will sign the petition, the link is: Save our ice!
Thought I'd post it here in case people hadn't seen it on the SI fourm :)

I'm # 2063 signed. Sorry didn't check this out earlier. I'm probably the only one who can fully understand all the consequences of this closing. Since 1988 (from the beginning of so-called "Perestroyka") in Russia tens of thousands of sport arenas and societies closed forever for financial reasons for most. It's so disgusting and... to see the rinks in ruins or to see night clubs where children played football or basketball recently, to watch kids beggin' for money on the streets or tryin' to steal some valuable from stores and shops; drug problem grows very fast despite all official stats - it's b**ls**t, I see it with my own eyes... What will come tomorrow? I don't know, but it seems very frustrating. Very. :(
