Think you're a good EHM GM? Our GM Challenges dare you to take over a team and make it a winner. The Challenge Forum and Centre are the hubs of our Challenges.
We've determined that for Challenge 4.1 (and beyond) we'll be using Devils88's updated roster config file (see the Graphics and Game Add-ons Forum for details on this project).
Since this would provide us with a Bruins team with no Thornton or Samsonov we figured it may make them a decent target for a Challenge. Bruins72 did a quick test and determined they still may not provide enough of a challenge for GMs of our elite calibre
But that ultimately comes down to what you the Challenge playin' GMs want to do next. We'd determined by previous vote that we'd take over Florida next but we can bump them back on the schedule and do Boston next if people prefer. So... do ya

Hey, if I can do a Canadiens challenge, you can do a Bruins one!
That being said, I voted for the Florida option. I've played the Bruins several times and despite losing Thornton and Samsonov, they're still not that hard to play. Florida has a top notch goaltender, a couple of great young players, and a couple of nice prospects. I played a season or two with them after the Carolina challenge and had some fun with them.
I'd really like to see us do a challenge with a team in the Western Conference. Every challenge so far has been with a team in the East. I remember doing one over at the susie boards where we used the Minnesota Wild. That was pretty fun. Maybe we should do the Blue Jackets some time?
The reason we've done the teams we have is voting; every time before this one I've had six teams or so for voting. We did Minnesota back in the day; and the Jackets have been on every voting list since. We had the Oilers on the Florida/Montreal tie poll. We've had LA and even San Jose on polls as well; so don't shoot the messanger
Florida ended tied with Montreal last vote but since we'd just played with Carolina I bumped Florida one down the list to do Montreal next. Boston was a suggestion as no other team takes as much of a hit with a trade-update roster... and yes people voted we'd use those rosters for next Challenge and probably will through to the next version. That's why the questions are worded the way they are
If you want to miss out because you don't want to play the Challenge team, or the updated roster, or because the team is isn't in your prefered division or conference? I personally find that silly and a bit of a lame excuse. That's just my personal opinion though.
The reason we have the system set up this way is because it's all about challenging yourself as a GM against other GMs and pushing yourself to learn more about the game and the players that make up the game by going to take over a team you don't know as well as your 'home team' that we all usually use for our own personal games. By seeing the writeups of what other people did when faced with the same situation playing by the same rules you can pick up tips that will make you more successful. Oh, and it's a helluva lot of fun. So I don't understand people claiming they won't play if X or Y. It's not called the Challenge for nothing

Well good for you standing up for what you believe in Thanks for understanding. Guess we'll see you when 2007 comes out; because this is how the users have decided that we're going to be doing Challenges now.

No offense but that's kind of stupid.
Do you understand that the only thing you have to do is copy 1 file into your database? They've made it very easy for us by using a config file rather than having to copy over a whole new database. You can even go back to your original lineups very easily.
Like Minstrel said, if you don't want to do this you'll be missing out on every challenge until the new version of EHM comes out in the fall. You're only hurting yourself.
Yes, and the new new season doesn't officially begin until October. The time in between the end of the playoffs and the start of the new season is called the offseason.
Now that we've both got the semantics out of the way... what difference does it make between the real life playoffs being over and dropping a file into your database that makes a few roster changes to new games played in EHM? Is it worth missing out on new challenges? It really doesn't matter to me if you play the challenges or not. I'm just trying to figure out the logic here.
