June 7th, 2012- The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed F Steve Bernier to a 2 year deal worth $2.2M. The 27 year old RW played in the Finnish League with the Lahden Pelicans and had 30 goals, 52 points, +27 rating and 24 PIMs in 45 games. Bernier last played in the NHL in 2010-11 season with the Florida Panthers and 5 goals and 15 points in 68 games.

June 7th, 2012- The Vancouver Canucks have signed F Jiri Tlusty to a 2 year deal worth $1.0M. The 24 year old LW played in the Swedish Elite League last season with the Farjestad BK and had 14 goals, 31 points, -8 rating with 32 PIMs in 49 games. Tlusty last played in the NHL in the 2010-11 season with the Carolina Panthers and had 6 goals, 12 points in 57 games.

June 10th, 2012- The Montreal Canadiens have extended F Andreas Engqvist to a 2 year, $2.0 M deal. The 24 year old C had 4 goals, 14 points, -8 rating in 59 games with 32 PIMs for the Habs last season.

Detroit Red Wings Pavel Datsyuk was named the Art Ross Trophy Winner for leading the NHL in points. The 33 year old C had 45 goals, 113 points, +38 rating and 42 PIMs in 82 games

Chicago Blackhawks Jonathan Toews was named the Bill Masterton Trophy Winner for player the best exemplifies the qualities of perserverance, sportsmanship, and dedication. The 24 year C had 41 goals, 108 points, +32 rating and 82 PIMs in 82 games.

Chicago Blackhawks Jonathan Toews was named the Conn Smythe Trophy Winner for most valuable player in the Playoffs. During the playoffs, Toews had 10 goals, 23 points, +6 rating, 27 PIMs in 24 games.

Buffalo Sabres Paul Gaustad was named the Frank J Selke Trophy Winner for best defensive forward. The 30 year old C had 10 goals, 35 points, +24 rating, with 187 PIMs in 74 games.

Chicago Blackhawks Coach Joel Quenneville was named the Jack Adams Award Winner for best coach this season. The 53 year old led the Chicago Blackhawks to a Stanley Cup win and a 16-8 record through the playoffs.

San Jose Sharks Patrick Marleau was named the Lester B Pearson Award Winner for most valuable Player selected by the NHLPA. The 32 year old C had 30 goals, 102 points, +24 rating and 30 PIMs in 77 games.

Toronto Maple Leafs Phil Kessel was named the Maurice Rocket Richard Trophy Winner for leading the NHL in goals scored. The 24 year old Kessel had 49 goals, 87 points, +17 rating and 56 PIMs in 74 games.

Vancouver Canucks Roberto Luongo was named the Vezina Trophy Winner for best goalie this season. The 33 year old G was 51-18-2 with a 1.93 GAA and .929 SV% plus 8 Shutouts.

Vancouver Canucks Ryan Kesler has won the NHL Plus-Minus Award for leading the NHL in plus-minus. The 27 year old C had 41 goals, 93 points, +46 rating and 63 PIMs in 78 games.

Vancouver Canucks Roberto Luongo won the Roger Crozier Saving Grace Award for best save percentage this season, along with this, he has also won the Vezina Trophy and William Jennings Trophy for lowest goals allowed.

June 16th, 2012- The Boston Bruins have traded Andrew Ference to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a 2012 3rd round pick. The 33 year old D Ference had 5 goals, 13 points, -8 rating and 30 PIMs in 53 games with the Bruins.

June 16th, 2012- Montreal Canadiens have extended D Aleksei Emelin to a 2 year, $2.2 M deal. The 26 year old Emelin had 2 assists in 12 games with the Canadiens and played 37 games in AHL Hamilton.

June 16th, 2012- The Florida Panthers have won the NHL Entry Draft Lottery. The draft will go on June 23rd at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The Florida Panthers will pick 1st, Carolina Hurricanes 2nd, Phoenix Coyotes 3rd, Philadelphia Flyers 4th and Nashville Predators 5th. The Canadiens own the 16th selection in the draft.

June 17th, 2012- The New York Islanders have signed Robert Esche to a 3 year deal worth $7.3 M today. The 34 year old G played in the Swiss National League for the Langnau Tigers and was 19-8-15 with a 2.44 GAA and .911 Sv %. Esche last played in the NHL in the 2006-07 season with the Philadelphia Flyers were he was 5-9-1 with a 4.33 GAA and .872 Sv %

June 17th, 2012- The Montreal Canadiens announce a minor trade, they have sent the rights to Kyle Klubertanz to the Columbus Blue Jackets for the rights of Seth Ambros. The 26 year old D Klubernatz played in the Swedish Elite League for the Djurgardens IF and played 48 games, had 4 goals, 12 points, -7 rating, and 81 PIMs. The 19 year C Ambros was the 5th round, 128th overall pick of Columbus in the 2010 draft and played 47 games in the Western Collegiate Hockey Assoc with the Minnesota Golden Gophers and had 12 goals, 23 points, +11 rating and 69 PIMs.

June 22nd, 2012- The Pittsburg Penquins have traded F Chris Kunitz to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a 1st round in in the 2012 draft. The 32 year old Kunitz had 43 goals, 88 points, +7 rating with 94 PIMs in 79 games.

June 22nd, 2012- The Boston Bruins have traded F David Krejci to the Pittsburg Penquins in exchange for D Brooks Orpik. The 26 year old Krejci had 23 goals, 57 points, +4 rating and 44 PIMs in 80 games while the 31 year old Orpik had 5 goals, 26 points, -13 rating in 82 games with 221 PIMs

# 1 overall, The Florida Panthers selected Martin Frk The 18 year old Czech RW is 6 ft 189 lbs, had 87 points in 64 games for the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior League. Central Scouting listed him 2nd overall. Two way Forward.

# 2 overall, The Carolina Hurricanes selected Nail Yakupov. The 18 year old Russian LW is 5'11" 169 lbs, had 62 points in 64 games for the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. Central Scouting listed him 3rd overall. Skilled offensive Forward.

# 3 overall, The Phoenix Coyotes selected Matthew Dumba. The 17 year old RD from Calgary, Ab is 5"11", had 61 points in 63 games with the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Canada Hockey League. Central Scouting listed him 1st overall. Offensive Defenseman.

June 27th, 2012- The Montreal Canadiens and Anaheim Duck are currently in negoitiation of trading defenseman. Montreal has offer 27 year old Chris Campoli for 21 year old Jared Cowan. Ducks GM Brian Murray said he would need to take some time to consider.

June 27th, 2012- The Montreal Canadiens and the Los Angeles Kings are currently negoitiating a deal to swap forwards. The Canadiens have offered 25 year old Brock Trotter in exchange for 19 year old Dominik Uher. Kings GM Dean Lombardi needs some time to look this over.

June 28th, 2012- Talks between the Ducks and Canadiens broke off when the Ducks wanted the Rights to Darren Dietz and a 2013 4th rounder and 2013 7th rounder.

June 29th, 2012- The Montreal Canadiens have traded C Brock Trotter to the Los Angeles Kings. The 25 year old Trotter played 50 games in Langnau Tigers of the Swiss National League and had 22 goals, 57 points. In exchange, the Canadiens recieve 19 year old Dominik Uher. The C played 80 games for the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL and had 3 goals and 5 points. He is viewed as a skilled forward, 2nd line potential. Uher was the Islanders 5th round selection in the 2011 draft.

June 29th, 2012- Montreal Canadiens F Erik Cole was named the Canadiens player of the year for 2011-12 season. The 33 year old Cole had 30 goals, 84 points in 81 games.

July 4th, 2012- Goalie Dominik Hasek was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame today. Hasek had a 389-223-95 record with a 2.20 GAA and career Sv % of .922. He last played for the Detroit Red Wings in 2007-08 season.

July 6th- New Jersey Devils have signed mobile defenseman Filip Kuba to a 1 year deal worth $2.2 M. The 35 year old Kuba had 6 goals and 23 points, -9 rating and 53 PIMs for the Ottawa Senators last season.

July 6th- Los Angeles Kings have signed mobile defenseman Dennis Wideman to a 3 year deal worth $7.75 M. The 29 year old Wideman had 8 goals, 33 points, +5 rating and 54 PIMs in 80 games for the Washington Capitals last season.

August 13th, 2012- The Ottawa Senators annouced the signing of Joel Quennville as an assistant coach. Quennville was the Coach of the Stanley Cup winning Chicago Blackhawks and obviously was looking for a new challenge..

2012-13 Montreal Canadiens Training Camp Preview:

The Canadiens will get set for camp that starts in mid September. Montreal has 8 exhibition games scheduled to assess and make final cuts.

In Goal: Carey Price will be the only guarenteed spot. The others that will compete for the back up spot are:

September 12, 2012- The Dallas Stars have signed G Corey Crawford to a 2 year, $ 1.0 M deal. The 27 year old Crawford was 9-4-3 with a 3.38 GAA and .877 Sv % for the Chicago Blackhawks last year.

September 15th, 2012- Day One of Training Camp- Showing Excellent Fitness were Andrei Markov and Aleksei Emelin. Only G Stefan Ridderwall was a concern.

September 15th- Team Red beat Team Blue 5-1 during a training camp Scrimmage today. Coaches were impressed with Marek Bartanus, Mathieu Carle and Justin Abdelkader.

September 17th, 2012- Team Red beats Team Blue 2-1 today in a scrimmage at training camp, coaches were most impressed with Travis Moen, Joonas Nattinen and Max Pacioretty. Jacques Martin feels Joonas Nattinen has a shot at making the team.

September 17th- D Ryan O'Byrne will miss up to 10 days with a twisted knee suffered in practice.
