Online play data editing question (EHM 07)

Post by drewst18 »

Ok so I know some people can be brutal if you don't search first so know in asking this I have searched first.

So I have noticed a lot of data editing that was previously "hard coded" into the game. It was my impression altering the source code couldn't be done for one reason or another. I know that what is being used is for the start date patch is hex editing, as for changing league rules I am not sure, but whatever the method is it possible to edit the game to make it able to played w/ 30 players online using the means being used for other editing?

And yes I know its "hard coded" but so were league rules and start dates...

Yes..yes I can be brutal.. This is a good question though so not mean. One not researched and answered, but I will say it should be titled a little more clearly. Like: Can we look into whether we can edit the game structure for EHM 2007 online play? I dunno...something like that. :-D

Good question.

Firstly, with regards to the editing of hard-coded data, we're not in any way touching the source code. The Start Date Patch and 99.99% of the league rules patch (the latest one by Alessandro) are nothing more than tweaking some of the data that is loaded in the RAM.

If the limit is simply a stored in the RAM as a number, then yes, it should be possible. If it's more complex then that, then it's unlikely. However there is a very good reason for the 15 player limit and that's because the network coding struggles to cope with the sheer amount of data involved with EHM 2007. So although perhaps you could increase the limit, the game will probably come to a grinding halt. Had it worked okay then SI wouldn't have added the 15 team limit.

Have you ever arranged an online clan with the MAX players to 30+?
I have spinned over the online issue in CM0304,I found the continue game timeout can be tweaked,so far.
