Pending NHL Free Agents Get More Time To Bargain

Post by Minstrel »

The league has struck down what to me sounds like a nonsensical thing anyways that would have forced teams to resign their free agents within the next six days...

Under the new CBA teams were supposed to have a 'freeze' on resigning their own to-be FAs from June 15th to the opening of the NHL Free Agency period on July 1. With teams still playing it seems silly at best to me to have this added artificial deadline. What's the point :dunno: As if having the Free Agency period open four months before the season isn't enough?

This news of course will be greeted with the most :joy: by Ottawa who have yet to resign either of their soon-to-be diamonds of the Free Agency market Zdeno Chara and Wade Redden.
