EHM on tablets and portable devices such as Android
This is the official thread to discuss running EHM on portable devices such as Android, iPads, iPhones, Kindle, etc. Two free software packages have been suggested:
TeamViewer: http://www.teamviewer.com/en/products/r ... ntrol.aspx
Splashtop: http://www.splashtop.com/remote
You may wish to look at the security settings for each of these packages if you wish to access your computer/EHM from outside of your private LAN. It looks as though TeamViewer *might* be the more secure of the two - but you will need to consider this yourself.

I am now on holiday, but I still want to play EHM... I have new Xperia phone with Android so I was thinking how to do it and I came up with one idea... install VNC-viewer on my phone and control my home laptop with EHM. Did anyone tried this? Do you think that it might work?

Re: EHM on Android devices
I'd make sure you check the settings on your computer regarding updates as if it's like mine, it'll restart automatically and then VNC would be out of commission.

Re: EHM on Android devices
I consider to use it mainly for EHM, so I will probably buy cheap single core mini PC and install simple Ubuntu version without any automatic updates. And it can be used as network storage too

I think you can set VNC to auto start with reboot can't you?

Re: EHM on Android devices
oki, I done test yesterday. VNC server is working perfect when on my home network, but via internet on my cell phone (android-vnc) it's useless as it needa much higher speed than my 3g can provide. Am waiting 20 seconds for every desktop refresh on black and white settings.

Re: EHM on Android devices
i don't know which system is teamviewer using, but it's response is much faster and setup is much easyer than vnc. maybe if you go for paid version of vnc viewer it might help, but I didn't wanted to pay

Running EHM on a tablet /portable device?
Although I'm pretty sure the answer is no...is it possible to port the game to the BlackBerry PlayBook?
I'm not familiar with anything except web coding, so sorry if it's a stupid question.

Re: Porting EHM to Playbook
No I'm afraid not. Unless, of course, there is something on your tablet that allows Windows software to run.

Re: Porting EHM to Playbook
For anyone interested in this, I have found a solution.
Using my Playbook + Splashtop HD (remote desktop program), I've been able to play EHM easily and without lag (over LAN at least). Haven't tried anything outside of my own network yet.
Playing around with it a little, but pretty awesome so far. Obviously a little more difficult with touch screen, but if you have a bluetooth mouse then you're good to go.

Heh that's a very creative solution!
I guess I could do the same with my Windows phone and its remote desktop software (although I guess it may use up all of my data allowance)...

Not as far as I'm aware of. In order to run the game, you'll either need a tablet that runs Windows or can run some sort of Windows emulator.mmathiis wrote:Hei

Re: Running EHM on a tablet /portable device?
Was going to point out, I also use Splashtop on my Kindle Fire to play both freeware EHM and EHM 2007 on my desktop. Honestly, the freeware works better for it given the display size and shape. I can play a ton of freeware EHM that way, the freeware EHM's window just fits better.
I have been using Splashtop though to play EHM 2007 on my desktop using the laptop that sits out in the living room. Splashtop is slick. It doesn't have all the encryption that RDP and VNC and so many others have and therefore it runs much, much faster. However, it is in fact much less secure if you use it outside of your own LAN. So don't use it anywhere other than inside your own home network I guess... if you use it outside of your firewall you're probably asking for trouble.

Re: EHM on tablets and portable devices such as Android
i never used ehm on a android phone but I'm playing it in my Android tablet. It's a bit difficult because it's touch screen except if you have a bluetooth mouse or small finger
I'm trying to do an EHM 2007 application but only for NHL (sorry for european) but with my personal touch. When I'm going to finish it I would share it (if I like it).

Re: EHM on tablets and portable devices such as Android
Would there be a reason EHM couldn't play on a Windows Pro tablet? Like the Surface Pro etc.
They run full blown Windows, and .exe files, so I'm assuming it would be okay.

Replying to my own question. Purchased the Surface Pro 2, EHM works great on it.
Touch, not so much. You need to attach a mouse, or use one of the Type/Touch cover keyboards with it, as the stylus/touch screen doesn't work correctly.
But that's to be expected, it's not optimized for touch.

How does it handle freeware EHM?squadz wrote:Replying to my own question. Purchased the Surface Pro 2, EHM works great on it.

Man, I'd love one of those Surface 2's. They're awesome. If I could pick any tablet with cost being irrelevanyt, I'd get one of those.

Re: EHM on tablets and portable devices such as Android
I'm in the market for a tablet and am venturing towards the Microsoft Surface. One question though: can the Windows 8.1 RT run EHM 2007 or do I need the Surface Pro that's running full Windows 8.1? I ask, as the Surface Pro 2 carries a heavier price tag than the Surface 2, and the ability to play this game on either will go a long ways towards my decision.

Re: EHM on tablets and portable devices such as Android
It sounds like RT isn't compatible with EHM 2007. See this quote from Wikipedia:
Here's the link to the article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_RT ... patibilityWikipedia wrote:However, while Windows RT inherits the appearance and functionality of Windows 8, it contains a number of limitations, which includes only being compatible with software obtained from Windows Store, and lacking certain enterprise-oriented features.
[...]
Only Windows Runtime apps (obtained from Windows Store or sideloaded in enterprise environments) can be installed by users on Windows RT devices. Developers cannot port desktop applications to run on Windows RT, since Microsoft developers felt that they would not be properly optimized for the platform.
