I think you've just gotten a few too many Molson's in you before posting and getting a bit too hyped up on the whole "It's OUR game" thing as I know Canadian fans tend to do. I wasn't the one debating you on that issue though. The Cup actually lives at the HoF the majority of the year minus it's summer tours with the Cup winners so since the HHoF is in Canada I won't even argue your "coming home' rhetoric.

We'll see what happens tonight. I hope Carolina wins as I personally feel they deserve it more but nobody gets a free pass to the Finals so I won't, like you have with the Canes, discount what the Oil have done to make it to where they have just to throw smack around

or take external factors like where a team plays as far as their home rink or conference to suggest that they are more inherently worthy of being a Championship team; the team that plays best overall and as a team making the most of their chances will take it.

Either way I'll be at least a little bummed out as this is the last game we have to watch like four months now which is never something I look forward to

These last 3 years have got to be the worst in the entire history of the sport.

I think I'm done with the NHl.

Also, I don't drink Molson, they're owned by coors. I hate coors.

Well that's a mature attitude...

Congratulation to the Canes; that was a great run and tons of fun to watch. This was one hell of an exciting Game 7 as well. Rod Brind'Amour is my hero and to me everything that hockey is all about; and by extension that is what I've liked about this team all year. They play as a team, give it their all, and never say die. They aren't afraid to play the game instead of trying to dumb-down the sport for a few extra wins and I think they deserve a lot of respect for that. They're willing to give and take and lay it all on the line and hope they've got more men standing when the smoke clears.

And frankly if anyone wants to say they don't deserve to be the Champs that is simply

People who like hockey and want to see it played with all the speed and guts and grit and team commitment that makes the sport so awesome should applaud that this team won because maybe that means we won't have to see another boring-ass defensive team brutalize the sport and talk about winning by compensating for talent by constant obstruction and hooking and holding. I say amen to that; and maybe after some years that have produced tons of hard-to-watch hockey maybe things are actually looking up for the sport

No matter where the team that won the Championship plays their home games.

If you can't enjoy watching this team just because they are from Carolina that is a truly sad thing and I feel sorry for you to be honest. And I've lost a sizeable chunk of respect for you as an intelligent person with the tripe you've dished out here which is too bad because I always saw ya as a more sensible guy

I always have, and always will see hockey as a Canadian sport. When I see the top trophy's in the sport going to the States and Finland, it stirs something inside me, and if you lose respect for me because of that, so be it.

I'm a Canadian first, and a nice guy second. You let a Canadian ahve his beer and his hockey, and he'll be the niceest guy on the planet. We've had both of those stripped from us in the last few years, and frankly we're widdled off.

Gratz to the 'Canes and their fans. The simple fact was these were two pretty evenly matched teams and the Canes played a better game 7. It really could have gone either way but someone has to win eventually. I think everything Minty said about the Canes you could also say about Edmonton. They are a very hard working team and a hard hitting team without a boatload of star players. They work hard for every goal they get and I think they are a good example of what a team based sport hockey is. In my opinion, this is one of the best Stanley Cup Finals I've seen in a long time and I think both teams deserve a heck of a lot of credit. It was very exciting to watch two teams go at each other hard every game. This is the way hockey should be played.

The big winners? We the fans, because we saw a great playoff season with great hockey. We saw a Western Coference where the top four teams got knocked out in the first round and an 8th seed made it to the finals and take those finals to a game 7 even after their starting goaltender goes down to an injury. And we saw a scrappy Carolina team built around team speed and young talent go all the way putting away better teams on paper through sheer willpower it seamed.

I can't wait for training camp.

Hey guyz, try to put rivalities apart. I understand your frustration E5150_ca but this isn't the place to fight rivalities out. Canada is in my eyes still the number one hockey country. But over the past 10 years, somehow (lack of money?) they lost their place to (mostly South Eastern teams).

Well you can't do anything about that, same thing happens to be in European Football where Spanish, English and Italian clubs domintate. I also tend to get fustrated about that... but everyone has to try to remain friendly, no? Afterall we are all hockeyfans no

2003-2004: Calgary Flames: 6th in the Western / goes to game 7 of the Finals / Loose
2005-2006: Edmonton Oilers: 8th in the Western / goes to game 7 of the Finals / Loose

It seems that the top four of the Western have some difficulties to remember that there's still games after the regular season...

I would have love to see the Oilers win it this years,as i have a little preference for Canadian teams,but the Canes deserve their title,as they play very well all over the season. Great job!

However,i'm angry to be limited to the nhl.com sum-ups of the games,as there's no hockey on french TV

Amen. There were some fantastic games in these series, many more geat games than average ones really. The season was a bit up-and-down but I am very thankful that they stuck to their guns and continued to call (mostly) the hooking and obstruction right through the playoffs. Hopefully next year players will come into camp leaving those old tendancies behind and finally realize "I guess they aren't going to just go back to not calling it so I better quit or get used to be being in the doghouse." Hopefully next year will start off with games of great pace like we saw in so many of these series.

I never thought I'd be be nearly as hopeful about the league one year after the freakin travesty that was the Lockout as I am now. I really think next year is going to be really interesting and I'm cautiously excited that my Hawks have such a young team in the "pipeline" and just might not embarrass themselves next year which would be a hell of a refreshing change.
