Absolutely - and it'd be nice if Boyle scored a goal or two as well.Manimal wrote:The Rangers needs Gaborik to step up his game. I don't care that he did not block that shot, it is his non-scoring that troubles me.
I don't know how the Rangers made it through the first two periods of last night's game. As of recent, they have moments of great play and then for the rest of the game they're on the back foot.

Gooooooooooooooooooood bye Phoenix woot woot!!!!!
Weird game though alot of weirds calls or even missed ones. Mike Smith was whining on the winning goal but everything was clear.

Re: Official 2011-12 NHL Playoff Thread
The whole OT period was full of whining. Doughty is really lucky he didn't get an extra penalty with all the yelling he was doing after the holding call (that really could of gone to either/both player(s)), and then again after the blown offside call. I can't believe the amount of Yotes that went after the refs after the winning goal though. Kudos to Doan for lining up and shaking hands with everyone (even if the one with Brown was brief) esp. with the goal coming so shortly after the knee-on-knee collision. (Which I think was just a case of too many players in too little space, not an intentional knee-on-knee).
Lots of enotion in that OT period.
But yeah for Kings in 5!! My first fully correct series call! Winner and ## of games.

Doughty was lucky indeed. After the stupid offside call I was sure he was going to have a penalty, again. The knee on knee was alright to me, just some bad luck. Yotes were freaking out but after the call Brown just went to hit shoulder on shoulder but both players seemed to try to avoid each other and then their knees touched.

Re: Official 2011-12 NHL Playoff Thread
Doughty lucky. Hanzal going to get a suspension. Doan did not gon shake hands straight away. He chased a ref around for awhile. Brown: may have been accidental but it came 2 seconds after whistle. Should have pulled out. Cheap shot.
Smith whining was related to the hit.
Brutal officiating both ways. Terrible. Pros don't lose it like that without reason.
Hanzal big eff u to ref. may cost him some $$$ or game next year.
And i love Canuck fans cheering for Kings. Big deal. Lost in playoffs to eventu cup winner three years in a row. Still lost. Losers.

Re: Official 2011-12 NHL Playoff Thread
Even though I generally dislike people bitching about the refs after a loss, I can't help feeling at least a bit sorry for Doan. He's the only thing left from the original Jets era, and has arguably been one of the best players (aside from Smith) on a young team at the age of 35. Too bad he'll probably never win the cup, but you have to give him credit for the relentless attitude he brought to the game in the playoffs. Somehow reminds me of Shanny towards the end of his Red Wings era. In a team which was lacking in enforcers, old man Shanny usually ended up doing most of the dirty work on top of scoring cruicial goals for the team.

Kings and Devils for the cup, and hey 100% perfect in the third round, # of games included!
Anyways, I say Kings in 5 games for the Cup, they have been too dominant.

Re: Official 2011-12 NHL Playoff Thread
I guessed right too (though I didn't predict any number of games). I say it'll be the Devils in six games. I really hope I'm wrong, though. I can't stand the Devils!
I'm really disappointed to see the Rangers get knocked out. They were so strong for the vast majority of the season. However, they'd been gradually getting poorer and poorer as the Playoffs went on. Gaborik had been invisible for a lot of the most recent games. Lundqvist had a couple of uncharacteristic shaky moments in the Devils series too.

Good article by a good writer, on how defensive the coaching is
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/opi ... le2444846/
In my mind, something has to be done. The game of hockey is getting more and more boring to watch

Re: Official 2011-12 NHL Playoff Thread
Indeed good article! Like the comments of some old coaches. At a certain point, it's almost saying that coaches don't want to lose control over their team by letting them playing an offensive style and they prefer to put some boring defensive plays just to say that they coach their team. It may not be that way but I understood it like this.
@McQwak, why go Devils? Just because of Elias? Ridiculous.

I think the Kings are going to win, but wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. It has been a very unpredictable playoff season.

Alot of rumors were sending Hartley to MTL but surprise surprise he is now the coach of the Flames! Glad to see him back in the NHL.
And finally Lidstrom retired. Can't say I like the guy but he got one hell of a career!

Vokoun just been traded for a 7th round pick to the Pens. Now that's a nice deal for the Pens! Seems the Caps are going to go with Neuvirth and Holtby next season.

Wow, the Kings are looking very good right now. I didn't expect them to be 3-0 up. They were very dominant in the latter two periods of game 3 - two very skilful goals too.

Re: Official 2011-12 NHL Playoff Thread
This team incredible! Nothing can stop them. They wrote a new NHL record by leading all their four series with a 3-0 start, now that's something! Since I watch hockey I don't remember seeing a team with a 12-2 ratio.

Detroit's draft choice (2007) died in tragical accident in Switzerland, where he was on holiday.

That totally sucks.
Totally wrong thread...Vladimir "hotdog" Krutov did today as well. And hotdog for his diet, not his skillset...which was awesome. Dude was so lazy though there is a story in Vancouver that he had a string he tied to his light switch so he did not have to get out of bed to turn light on/off.
ANd back to playoffs---Kings cannot close it out. Their weakness this playoffs? Game 4 vs Van up 3-0 in series lost at home. Game 4 vs Phoenix up 3-0 in series, lost at home. game 4 vs New Jersey up 3-0, lost at home.
Wow
