Started Thursday night, and worked this holiday weekend creating minor pro players...

I've got logos finished for all the AHL, CHL and ECHL teams now, though I won't be able to tweak the colours/make sure all the logos look alright in-game until the next test version is ready.

Re: the photo packs. As I mentioned, the players who are in the NHL at the start of the game, and some Europeans, are finished. However, there are too many other projects that I have to/want to/am doing that I don't feel I can commit myself to making a full photo pack for all the minor leaguers...

Awesome! I completed the adding of historical teams to the CHL this past weekend. so right now NHL/AHL/CHL are complete.....I'll get the ECHL team names changed in the next few days and then - if you're OK with it I'll send you the database "as is" once the ECHL is done, and then (like you've done once already) you could tell me what team colour editing needs to be done? Then I likely could send out test version 0.2 with the correct team colours...

Fantastic! THANKS MUCH!

Totally understandable! I suspect there may not even be photos for many/most of the added minor leaguers (as the majority played in "lower" minor leagues and never made the NHL/WHA)

I'll have a better idea of "when" test version 0.2 will be ready after the upcoming weekend...this past weekend was very productive, and after completing the adding of AHL players I edited the CHL team names, and then I set the affiliations from NHL to AHL/CHL....and then last night I began work on recreating (to avoid them being signed while still draft eligible) the young Europeans/Russians

Okay, here's the colours then... I only listed those that need changing (some of the AHL teams are already set)...

A couple of things I noticed:

1. Cape Breton is in AHL, in the DB you sent me.
2. Similarly, Binghamton Dusters are in the CHL.
3. You misspelt the name of the Des Moines Capitols - it's "Capitols" with an O, not "Capitals" with an A.

It ended up that the Boston Bruins had two "single/sole affiliations" in the AHL, Rochester and Binghamton. As well, in the NHL only Edmonton and San Diego were without at least a shared AHL affiliation..... so I moved Binghamton to the CHL and put Cape Breton (Edmonton affiliation) in the AHL.....

A thought re the two 'modern' teams still in there: perhaps the Suncoast Suns could replace one of them?

A couple other options for replacements: Rhode Island Eagles (EHL, 72-73) and the Jersey Devils (EHL, 72-73)... the Devils had kinda a cool logo that season, and I like the Suns logo, too...

As far as the logo for the ECHL goes - I was thinking, perhaps I could use the EHL logo of the time?

I hadn't even thought of league logos! By all means include the option!

I've got no problem with replacing the two modern teams (Utah and Johnstown) with the Jersey Devils and the Suncoast Suns....I think I'll need to shuffle the teams around a bit to better fit them with the geographical division name...

Current ECHL...

PACIFIC
Fresno Falcons
Long Beach Sharks
Kansas City Blues
Wichita Wind
San Diego Hawks

WEST
Portland Buckaroos
Trail Smoke Eaters
Tucson Rustlers
Utah Grizzlies
Spokane Flyers

NORTH
New Brunswick Hawks
Fredericton Express

Buffalo Norsemen
Utica Mohawks
Adirondack Red Wings
Johnstown Chiefs

SOUTH
Tidewater Sharks
Indianapolis Racers
Cincinnati Stingers
Cleveland Barons
Erie Blades
Salem Raiders

Replace Johnstown with Suncoast, move them to South and move Erie to North.

Swap out Utah with Jersey, move them to South and move Amarillo from South to West.

I'd also move Kansas City, Wichita and Fresno to West, and Portland, Trail and Spokane to Pacific.

So this'd give a setup like this:

PACIFIC
Long Beach Sharks
Portland Buckaroos
San Diego Hawks
Spokane Chiefs
Trail Smoke Eaters

WEST
Amarillo Wranglers
Fresno Falcons
Kansas City Blues
Tucson Rustlers
Wichita Wind

NORTH
Adirondack Red Wings
Beauce Jaros
Buffalo Norsemen
Erie Blades
Fredericton Express
New Brunswick Hawks
Utica Mohawks

SOUTH
Cincinnati Stingers
Cleveland Barons
Indianapolis Racers
Jersey Devils
Tidewater Sharks
Salem Raiders
Suncoast Suns
Washington Chiefs

Greetings!

The second test version of the 1974 db is available if anyone has the time/interest to do some testing and post results/feedback.....if you're interested PM me your email address and I'll send you the database...

A lot has been done since the first test version…in particular the underage draft issue has been fixed, DOB/Birth City errors corrected, the minor pro teams (NHL Affiliations) have been edited, NHL Rookie Awards have been added, the individual NHL Awards have been added, team colours have been edited, some (not all) team arenas have been edited, 99% of the “weird names” have been removed, almost 1000 minor pro historical players/staff have been added, and more!

There is still much I’m currently working on, including editing NHL contracts/wages, reviewing/editing NHL player Attributes (in-progress), reviewing/editing minor pro player Attributes (just started the process), reviewing/editing staff attributes, and more!

In a recent test I was able to sign Tretiak on day 1 and he came over right away (despite a Moscow C contract with no NHL Release Clause, and despite an Adaptability of 1 and a Loyalty of 20, and despite Moscow C is his Favourite Club!)…..so at this point in time, with my efforts/attention on contract/attribute editing, I’m accepting (for now) that I apparently can’t keep Europeans/Russians in Europe/Russia! Given this current state, the 1974DBtest0.2 version has all the teenage Europeans/Russians start the game with their ages correct (no need to edit using the SavedGame Editor)

FYI With my recent computer difficulties and the real life busyness of June I can see coming I know I’m not going to get the contracts/wages + attributes edited before the summer comes, and thus my decision to have a second test release now (I know I’ll have a lot more time in the summer, when I can do a month’s worth of editing in less than a week!)…

First thing I tried to do was add some scouts as I had only 3. Went to the search for staff which opened the list fine but every time I hit the filter/configure button it gives me the "EHM has encountered a problem and needs to close" and throws me out of the game. I've never run into this problem before with any database AFAIK. It's always the way I search for players and staff so I normally use it a lot. I'll next try the player search and see if the same thing happens. yep.... same problem. Guess I'll try a few different ways to search and see what happens.

I'm not sure why the problem is occuring, but it seems if you have ONLY the NHL, AHL and CHL set to Enhanced and you use an August 30th Start Date the search functionality works

I'll have to go back to some previous db saves to see if I can determine when this problem seeped in (I suspect it's recently, as I had some more "computer issues" a couple days ago)...

Aargh! Looks like I have to go back to May 1st to "fix" the issue [all saved dbs since May 1st have the crash occur when trying to filter/configure a player/staff search when all Leagues are set to Enhanced].....so basically I've lost all the work I've done in the last month! Grrr...

The May 1st copy of the db works, but with the current (June 3rd) copy if I add just the ECHL to the NHL/AHL/CHL it crashes, and if I add just Major Junior to the NHL/AHL/CHL it crashes (crashes when you try to filter/configure a player/staff search) - what's strange to me is since May 1st I don't recall doing any editing work on anything/anyone that would connect to Major Junior...

Looking back it appears by May 8th the db was "problematic" so the issue had to have occurred sometime in the first week of May.....between May 1st and May 8th I was creating CHL players as well as transferring players from teams made defunct, changing Invalid players to Retired, editing team colour schemes, editing ECHL team names and editing Affiliations...

Couple of small things. John Hanna ( Cleveland Crusaders) has a birthplace of Moscow, Russia (should be Sydney N.S.) and Jere Gillis is listed as 38 years old and not on any team(age 17-birthday Jan 18,1957 Bend Ore., Sherbrooke Castors).

As long as you don't click on configure you'll be fine no matter what you select, so at least it is avoidable.

I also saw that when you go to a game(boxscore/stats/simming while coaching) with the Kings it only says Los, not Los Angeles Kings

I'm almost certain it will be the team name changes. Changing team and league names is very unstable (and frustrating). If you restore the names you changed back to their originals, it may stop the crash. Then you could rename them back to the 70s names in small batches so that you can identify the source of the error.

I restored the names, but it didn't fix the crash (actually the early May db that doesn't crash only had two team names different from the June 3 db that crashes)...

In the database that "works" (dated May 1st) there are 4,048 Invalid players....in the database that doesn't work (dated May 8th) there are 1,384 Invalid players....maybe something went wrong when I was making Invalid players Retired players?

FYI - When I describe the database as "dated" May 1st that just means that's the folder name of the database (i.e. 1974dbMay1)...I keep using the same date for multiple saves/days, so my working database "dated" May 1st is actually from sometime between May 1st and May 8th

During this time I had just finished almost two solid months creating historical AHLers, and so to "celebrate" I did MANY different smaller editing tasks (like changing a couple team names)...this is making determining a possible crash cause extra difficult

I suspect I'm just going to have to redo the work I completed in May (testing search functionality frequently while doing so!)

I've no idea whether you can incorrectly change a retired player to invalid. I wouldn't have thought so, but you never know...
