2010 J.Ross Robertson Cup Playoffs, Conference Quarter-Finals



May 25th, Game 1

The IceDogs return home to play host to the opening game of their Conference Quarter-Final series against the Peterborough Petes. Jesse McCullough stopped 17 of the 20 shots he faced, and though the IceDogs scored first, the Petes scored three unanswered goals to claim the victory!

Peterborough 3, Niagara 1

Hill (1) (Andrews)

First star honours would go to Peterborough Petes winger Riley Hennigar, who scored a goal, and an assist. Second star would go to Peterborough Petes goaltender Michael Alston, who stopped 18 of 19 shots in the victory. Third star would go to Niagara IceDogs center Devin Hill, who scored a goal.



The Peterborough Petes lead the series 1-0!

Kris Dube played in 38 games for Niagara this season, putting up 9 (0+9) points, and was -7 with 4 penalty minutes.

Ivan Benyuk played in 30 games for Niagara this season, putting up 5 (2+3) points, and was -4, with 16 penalty minutes.

The IceDogs announce the completion of a trade with the Barrie Colts, sending winger Scott Pokulok, and defenseman Drake Milne to the Colts in exchange for overage winger Hunter Smith!

Pokulok played in 58 games for Niagara last season, putting up 17 (9+8) points, and was -1, with 53 penalty minutes.

Drake Milne played in 52 games for Niagara last season, putting up 24 (4+20) points, and was -5, with 40 penalty minutes.

The IceDogs open their US Tour with a stop to play the Plymouth Whalers. Kenton Howse will get the start in goal for Niagara. Kenton Howse stopped 28 of the 33 shots he faced, and though Niagara scored early in the third to tie the score 4-4, two more Whalers goals gave them the victory!

IceDogs training camp opened today with physical fitness testing, and showing exceptional fitness were defenseman Broderick Kelly, and tryout defenseman Shawn Sicard, while tryout winger Yanic Thiessen, and center Pierre-Marc Duchesne showed up out of shape!

Team Red defeat Team Blue 2-1! Best performance was put in by defenseman Roger Cote, with honours also going to defenseman Darren Peters, and center Neil Staal.

Team White defeat Team Green 3-2! Centers Sean Tervonen, and Devin Hill were the best players on the ice.



The IceDogs remain at home to open their preseason, playing host to the Prince George Cougars. Kenton Howse will get the start in goal for Niagara. Kenton Howse stopped only 11 of the 15 shots he faced before being pulled in favor of Jesse McCullough, who stopped 12 of 13 shots the rest of the way, as the IceDogs got their butts kicked!

September 7th

The IceDogs travel to play the Owen Sound Attack. Jesse McCullough will get the start in goal for Niagara. Jesse McCullough stopped 27 of the 29 shots he faced, and though the Attack scored late in the third to force overtime, the IceDogs went on to victory in the shootout!

Niagara 3, Owen Sound 2 (SO) Center Sean Tervonen scored the shootout winner.

The Hockey News released their OHL Season Preview, and the Niagara IceDogs (Team MVP: LW Radko Tvrznik, Key New Face: RW Hunter Smith) were ranked 20th out of he 20 OHL Teams!

Favorites to win the J.Ross Robertson Cup this season are the London Knights, though the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors should give them a run for their money! The Guelph Storm, and Sudbury Wolves should be solid contender, while the Niagara IceDogs and Sarnia Sting are expected to struggle.



Former IceDogs defenseman Cory Genovese announced his retirement today. He feels he cannot support himself playing professional hockey. He never played in a professional hockey game.



September 10th

Team White defeat Team Blue 2-1! Best performance was put in by winger Reggie Leclerc, with honours also going to tryout center Sean Tervonen, and defenseman Denny Hope.

Team Red defeat Team Green 4-3! Best performance was put in by winger Dean Koverko, with honours also going to defenseman Braxton Andrews, and winger Corbie Scott.



The IceDogs travel to play the London Knights. Kenton Howse will get the start in goal for Niagara. Kenton Howse stopped only 8 of the 12 shots he faced before being pulled in favor of Jesse McCullough, who stopped 8 of 10 shots the rest of the way, and though Niagara scored midway through the third to tie the score 4-4, the Knights would score twice more to secure the victory!

The IceDogs begin their season on the road, travelling to play the Sudbury Wolves. Jesse McCullough stopped 29 of the 31 shots he faced, and though the Wolves led 2-1 after two periods, the IceDogs scored four goals in the third period to take the victory!

The Groups were drawn today for the 2010/11 World Junior Hockey Championship, and Czech Republic drew into Group B with Finland, France, Kazakhstan, and Russia.



The IceDogs return home to play host to the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors. Jesse McCullough stopped 43 of the 47 shots he faced, and though the score was tied 1-1 after the first period, the Majors scored three unanswered goals to take the victory!

Second star would go to Brandon Wheat Kings winger Wendel Stone, who recorded an assist. Third star would go to Kootenay Ice goaltender Ryley Davison, who stopped 28 of 29 shots in the victory.



December 2nd

The IceDogs travel to play the Owen Sound Attack. Jesse McCullough stopped 29 of the 31 shots he faced in the game, and though the IceDogs scored first, Owen Sound would score three unanswered goals to take the victory!
