A 2000-01 DB?
Now that there is a patch that allows us to start the game at any season has anybody starting working on a 2000-01 DB? It is the first season of 30 teams, so it would work within the constraints of the game. Plus it allows you to play through the 2003 draft and Crosby, Ovechkin & Malkin's drafts. Also, since it isn't that far off, most of the players will already be in the game, just need to be edited. Either downgraded if they are way too young or upgraded if too old.
You could set the salary cap to an insanely large upper bound and a nonexistent lower bound to pretend there is no salary cap too.
If nobody is working on this, I think its a worth while project and if I get free time from work I may start.
If anybody has any hints on how low to lower people's abilities for really young players, that would be awesome. For example how low do you make Crosby? Stamkos? Yakupov?

I'd love to see a DB like this. I don't think anyone has started working on one.

Re: A 2000-01 DB?
Cool idea!
Has anyone tested the CSD Patch to see if a 2000 start date will work?
As an example of what you're talking about doing check out the UUDB (http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... =77&t=8241)...unlike the Lidas/Manimal rosters that start in the "current year" (year they're made) the UUDB always starts in 2006 - in the UUDB you'll find really young players players like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (in the Bantam League on the Burnaby Winter Club Bruins) and Gabriel Landeskog (playing for Djurgarden IF J18)...if the start date is moved from 2006 to 2000 there's a need for leagues below Bantam to be created...
This is how I’ve done it with the 1974 database. Currently in the 1974 db the youngest historical players start at age 4...
Another starting point would be to compare all the leagues/teams in the database against the leagues/teams in 2000...there will be editing that needs to be done!
Regards

Or you could just remove/delete the salary cap altogether if you wanted to...grimmas wrote:You could set the salary cap to an insanely large upper bound and a nonexistent lower bound to pretend there is no salary cap too.
With the 1974 database I've mainly been lowering CA (as well as starting height/weight)grimmas wrote: anybody has any hints on how low to lower people's abilities for really young players, that would be awesome. For example how low do you make Crosby? Stamkos? Yakupov?
It's still an enormous amount of work! IMO as a starting point you'll need to create Minor Hockey Leagues (i.e. Mite/Tyke/Novice/Atom/PeeWee) and create teams for these leagues, and then you could start editing players (lowering age/height/weight/CA) and moving them to their new teams... For example, if you started with the UUDB and a 13 year old Nugent-Hopkins, moving the starting year from 2006 to 2000 means Nugent-Hopkins will now be only 7 years old! Thus the need to create Minor Hockey Leagues...grimmas wrote:Also, since it isn't that far off, most of the players will already be in the game, just need to be edited. Re: A 2000-01 DB?
I haven't been able to successfully use a pre-2006/07 starting date. Although the game starts okay, all of the game schedules disappear after December and you're left with a game where literally no games are played anywhere (and it doesn't resolve itself the following season).
The best starting point would be to try a 2000 start date with an existing set of rosters. If you can sim to January 2001 without any problems then you might be alright.

IMO another starting point would be to make up some lists of NHL players by Birth Year (copy/paste into excel from a site like HockeyReference); Birth Years should probably cover from the late 1990s to the mid/early 1960s...then go through and compare/determine
- Is the player already in the EHM database as a player and only needs age/size./CA edited and a new team?
- Is the player already in the EHM database as a staff? I’ve been deleting the staff and creating a new player
- Is the player not in the EHM database? Create a new player
Archi’s EHM Updater is the key tool! Using it you can produce a list of who’s already in the EHM database (for checking), you can edit player/league history (to remove post 2000 history), you can edit players in a spreadsheet, you can create players using a spreadsheet, and much more!

Re: A 2000-01 DB?
Actually I have worked with 2000DB for some time now.. It's still in early stage and all.
I started this project from a stracth.. retired all players and non-players with help of mouse key recorder.
About those disappearing schedules. You can play without any problems if you don't start to scroll schedule list at all.. I have had succesful sims from year 2000 to past 2006.

Re: A 2000-01 DB?
I have also started on this once. I set up all the leagues with the correct teams(where possible) I started to move the players around but I have not gotten far with that. A certain other roster-edit has come in the way...

If you have retired all of the players, you could use my Updater to permanently remove all of them from your database. The Updater can delete all invalid and retired players from the database with the push of just one button (and it only takes ten seconds).Lazion wrote:Actually I have worked with 2000DB for some time now.. With regards to the pre-2006 sims, I wonder if it's a case that I simply need to update a few more offsets in order to get the schedule list to work correctly...

Re: A 2000-01 DB?
Glad to hear it!
Ultimately, I want to create a database eraser so that we can delete all staff from the database (playing and non-playing in addition to retired and invalid) so that we can have a completely blank database. This would be really helpful for historic rosters.
What error did you get? I'm interested to know because I have never had any errors myself.

I'm a bit out of what has happened on this site... so Archi: how your erasor works? I mean, is it possible to add NHL/CHL rights for created players?

Re: A 2000-01 DB?
Can't remember. I got error message when I loaded DB in pre-game Editor and selected staff after using eraser tool. I still have db where's lot of retired/invalid staff so I can try if it replys that error.archibalduk wrote:What error did you get? I'm interested to know because I have never had any errors myself.

You can do what you like for created players - they are just like normal players.

Is it possible to start with a blank database and just import individual parts... like all players who are of a certain age?

Re: A 2000-01 DB?
At present you would have to delete the database by setting all players to retired/invalid. Then my Updater will delete all of them.. As mentioned above, I hope to create some sort of database eraser in the near future (before the end of this year I guess).
Players can, to an extent, be imported by using the Updater: http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 60#p142560
