Re: This Is Our House - The Niagara IceDogs Story
2008 OHL Priority Selection Revisited
Now that the 2008 draft class has left the league, we take a look back at my draft picks and see how they did!
1st Round (16th Overall): RW Lawne Paton
Paton played four years for the IceDogs, and while he stuggled a bit at the start of his career, by his final year he was playing top minutes, and both scoring, and playing a rugged style of game, and even being in the occasional fight. He just finished his first professional season, split between Lake Erie and Rockford of the AHL!
Drafted: Colorado Avalanche, 4th Round (91st Overall), 2010
Career (Ontario Hockey League): 251GP, 65G, 113A, 178P, +4, 660 PIM, 6.68 AvR
Niagara IceDogs (251 games)
OHL Playoffs: 59GP, 13G, 21A, 34P, -10, 75 PIM, 6.59 AvR
Niagara IceDogs (59 games)
2nd Round (36th Overall): G Jesse McCullough
The IceDogs #1 goaltender for 4 of his 5 exceptional seasons in the OHL! Established himself as one of the absolute best goaltenders in the OHL during his tenure, including an excellent record of goaltending in the playoffs, and has now moved on to better things, signing a three year contract with the Buffalo Sabres.
Drafted: Detroit Red Wings, 1st Round (30th Overall), 2011
