I've been lazy reporting my games here, although I've been playing them. It's this foreign language which makes Jack a dull boy.
It's been a while since I finished my season #1 with Blues. Because of that I don't remember how it all went, but after those nasty injuries I got the team together and playing better again. We ended up sixth in the Conference 7 points behind Division winner Nashville.
In the first round of playoffs it was then Nashville against us. We lost two games in a row and won next four games. But in game #6 our captain Steve Konowalchuk got injured for four months, and that was the hit we didn't recover from. He played every game of the regular season tallying 8 goals, but in the five playoff games he played (he got injured after playing less than two minutes of game #6) he scored six goals and was the leader we needed. In the second round of playoffs we lost 4 straight games to Anaheim, each by one goal.
I was satisfied to my team after the first season, but I was pretty sure it would need a lot of adjusting before the season #2. But that's another story.

After the season I didn't make so many changes in my team. I traded Konstantin Zakharov for Jean-Pierre Vigier with Thrashers. I also traded Nick Boynton and 2nd Round Pick in 2006 (ANA) and 6th Round Pick in 2006 (NYI) for Bryan Berard with Blue Jackets. Then I off-loaded Dallas Drake to Coyotes for 4th Round Pick in 2006 (CGY).
I also signed three free agents, goalie Craig Anderson from Moscow C, Michal Mikeska from Pardubice and John Hecimovic from South Carolina. And the most important move was firing Head Coach Mike Kitchen. I replaced him with Dave King.
That was all I did in post-season. But I knew I still had a lot to do because I wanted to improve my poor PP- and SH-rates from the season #1. So I would try to acquire few profile players in my team, to offense and especially to defense. But most of all I'd badly need experienced #1 goalie. More of that in season #2 -thread.
