Changes you make to a database/Extra Config File only take effect whe starting a new game (so you can't change anything on a game already started, even if your changes are "in the future").

The Extra Config File was initially the only way to make some changes until the Pre-Game Editor was created....I think the things you're refering to (changing affiliations and team colours) are so much easier to do in the Editor no one uses the Extra Config File to do so

In regards to "what to do".....there is nothing you can do to change the Jets to the Thrashers in a game you've already started, but you could use the most recent version of the Lidas/Manimal rosters (which I believe have the Jets replacing the Thrashers)

Regards :-)

Although you might be able to edit affiliations within the game, you're not going to be able to use the extra_config to change a team's name or location AFAIK.
Ok, maybe it is better to just change the team to the Winnipeg Jets from the start-date.
After all it is just 4 years from that date to the irl-date.

I did just want it to change name in 2011 because of the reality-feeling. But it is not so long time.
So i guess i could live with it!

For the first, i know that it has to be a new game to be done. Thats why i am making it in the pre-game editor and in the extra config.

In the pre-game editor you make the changes from the start of the new game, yes. But in the extra config you can make it happend in the future. Such as arena-moves, new affiliations, new colours in for example this date: 2 September 2011. So hell yeah, it is in use.

And again, i am not going to change in a game i have already started. I am not a McDavid-ing Lidstrom. I know that "pre-game" & "in-game" is before & during the game.

What a totally unnecessary and rude response. All anybody here has done is try to help you.

Within five hours of asking your question you had three different users offering their help and advice. You asked how to change mid-game the Thrashers from the Jets. We have all said it cannot be done other than starting a new game with the Pre Game Editor. End of.

I was going to now lock this thread but seeing as other users have recently asked related questions, I'll leave it open for their benefit.

Here:

Change it pre-game and make it take place in mid-game, yes.

Not change it mid-game...

And this is exactly the question people have been responding to. You cannot have a team change mid-game (and just to make very clear, we mean that you cannot make a change pre-game which will make a team change mid-game ingame).

I meant "in use" in the sense that you could go to a database and see it in the Extra Config File...I didn't notice any "use" of the Extra Config File to deal with affiliation/colour changes in the UUDB or the Lidas/Manimal db or the deafault db - such edits were made in the first two databases but they didn't use the Extra Config File to do so

Just because the Extra Config File deals with affiliations/colours (which no one uses the Extra Config File to do),
you seemed to think you should be able to fold an NHL franchie and revise a defunct NHL franchise using the Extra Config File.....you seemed to be misunderstanding some things IMO, and that's why I gave the explanation I did

I'm curious if anyone has knowledge to answer?

If I got this right you can use this to link club histories etc. between clubs, but I'v been wondering how I can determine linked club?
Can't place club ID in here.. this is probably on (1) or off (0) type setting.

Hmm good question. I'll try and take a closer look at that tonight.

CHAR is normally used for small numbers (-127 to 128 or thereabouts) or where there are multiple options more than just yes/no. SI has indicated yes/no settings as CBOOL.

I took a look at the database and found that every team has the ClubHasLinkedClub set as zero. It may well be that this field has no use in the game (it wouldn't be the first part of the database we've found that has no use).

Thanks for looking.
This CHAR ClubPLC; is also interesting. Usually shareholders pay your team wages or you have to pay for them when you have lot of money. But when I placed 01 in here and took control one Finnish SM-Liiga team and totally messed their budget (-100M) - it stayed like that for years. After few seasons my team falled in Finnish Second Division and never came back. :-D

Sounds like you are single-handedly destroying Finnish hockey! :D

Did they actually become a PLC in game? I had wondered whether this was a setting that was simply inherited from Football Manager.

Yes I think they became PLC. It doesn't say anywhere if they are or not.. or atleast I didn't find any info.
Picture from team info from my second season:

They used to have professional status.. I haven't noticed that team status is dynamic before.
