Hi Everyone!

We are thrilled to announce that for the past month and a half, we have been working actively on the version 2.0 of our Web Sim Hockey. The numerous new features that will be added to Web Sim Hockey 2.0 will improve the social aspect of the game and will bring it to unmatched levels!

Here's an overview of the important changes that will be delivered this fall 2012:

Community : More active than ever!
The community module will bring a game element that did not exist before, which will please everyone who likes competition and statistics! It will include a new GM page, global rankings, a history of your achievements, a new reward system based on your goals achived, and much more!

To sum it up, GMs will now become much more real. Each will have its attributes and reputation. Leagues and GMs will no longer be isolated. They will be part of a larger Web Sim Hockey community where all comparisons are possible.

Will you be one of the best GM of all Web Sim Hockey? YOUR ranking will tell us soon!

Tournaments: Twice as much action!
The tournament module is a brand new gameplay mode that will be going on simultaneously to your leagues. You won't have to worry about the financial part of the team, since only the on-ice management will be required.

You will get in the heat of the action and put your team to test on a short period of time against a variable number of teams (2 to unlimited). The goal is simple: Win the tournament!

There will be tournaments for Web Sim Hockey teams from any league, and other tournaments opened to everyone where you will draft your own players. Rest assured that there will be tournaments for all tastes as you will be able to create and customize your own.

The tournaments being played in parallel with your leagues, you will get twice as much action!

Interface: more beautiful, more simple, more user-friendly!
Thanks to its new and improved interface, it will be easier than ever to browse the site. The ergonomy has been redesigned so you can navigate as easily using your smartphone or tablet as your home computer.

The new interface will also be much appreciated by those who play in more than one league. Whether it's the message system, the chat, the commissioner pages and the overall design, everything will be reviewd to facilitate management of multiple leagues.

The era of changing leagues to see what happens with each of your teams will be a thing of the past. At a glance, the global multi-leagues alerts and the news feed will inform you on any action you must take in all your leagues. A simple click will get you where you need to act. You will be able to choose the type of information you want to receive, such as injured players, incomplete lineups, trade offers, etc.

More information delivered means easier management!

More new features!
A host of other improvements will also be added and details will be revealed later. Until we launch a first version of Web Sim Hockey 2.0, every effort will be made on this new version. Thus, you will understand that the current version should not change or very little from now on.

We thank you for your understanding and your interest in Web Sim Hockey!

Thanks to your ideas, suggestions and comments, Web Sim Hockey 2.0 will become the only social simulated hockey game on the web.

Hi all, here's the latest details with our game:

Image

Can you feel it? Spring is just around the corner. And with it, comes the excitement, the tension, and the down-to-the-line NHL playoffs for the Stanley Cup. It’s also time to renew your league and the launch of Web Sim Hockey’s new attributes!

As many leagues are being created and others are being renewed for the season, you can really sense the intensity in the air.

2011-12 ATTRIBUTES ARE NOW AVAILABLE!

Waiting for the end of the season to create a new league? Web Sim Hockey’s new player and coach attributes for 2011-2012 are available. You can now create your very own league with these new attributes.

For more information: http://websimhockey.com/?u=/Community/AttributesCentral

LEAGUES WITH 12 TEAMS

We are stoked to announce that you can now create leagues with only 12 teams, instead of the default 24.

There are many advantages to creating a league with only twelve teams:

- The league is more personal.
- The league can be managed by 12 GMs that are very active and remain with it for a long time.
- League happenings, such as player drafts, contracts, and much more, can be greatly accelerated.

High-octane league management is at your fingertips!

Create a league with 12 teams today! http://websimhockey.com/?u=/Community/LeagueCentral

PLAY FOR FREE? YOU CAN!

If you have never tried Web Sim Hockey, now is your chance! You can try it now for free by taking control over a team that is under league control.

How? When GMs leave their leagues or if they decide not to renew their subscriptions, their teams become available for free for the current season. With Web Sim Hockey’s new 2011-2012 attributes, several leagues are currently recruiting new GMs.

This is your huge break to become a GM of a pro hockey team!

To learn more about the teams that are under league control and currently available: http://websimhockey.com/

PARTNERSHIP WITH ELITEPROSPECTS.COM

We are very happy to announce that we are now partners with the great swede site http://www.eliteprospects.com. They are full of resources on a ton of leagues, which is very useful to our GMs. This partnership will allow us to slowly integrate more and more players from elite european leagues like the KHL, Elitserien, etc, and then have those leagues available to play just like we do with the NHL at the moment.

Hi everyone,

As you probably know, we have been working on a 2.0 version of Web Sim Hockey for the past few months. A first release of that version will be ready some time next fall (Q4).

Until then, we will release a series of videos keeping track of what we are working on.

We just completed our new messaging system that will change the way we communicate between ourselves.

Click here for the New Messaging System Tutorial Video

PS: The Video also shows a glimpse of our new interface!

Here's a little snapshot, showing how you will now be able to dock a player page, city page or coach page on the right-handside of your screen (or on the bottom if your screen resolution is smaller).

Very useful as you can switch from one to the other or discard them with the X. The green button minimizes the page and docks it.

**The player popup page is not 100% final, design might change a little.

It's now official! Normand Barrette, one of our 4 associates, started working full time on Web Sim Hockey this monday, on a permanent basis. His addition will be more than welcome and will allow us to accelerate our game development.

We already have an update ready that includes the following changes:

- Contracts Overview page: We added a player option salary and any pending offer you made to a player of your team (very useful during the signature steps in the off-season). Those salaries are indicated in italic since they are used for indicative purpose only.

- Commissioner page: The limit has been increased to 50M$ for a team financial help from the league. It is now also possible to take away a financial help.

- Commissioner page > Team > Suspension: This new page allows a commissioner to remove a player suspension.

Thanks,

Nice! I really like the new layout.

Will you be putting anything in the blank area on the right hand side of the screen? Maybe the league standings, stats leaders or players on hot streaks?

Yes, the right column is used as a master page. It shows on every pageview so usefull information will be showing there about your active league. It's not showing on these screenshots though.

Web Sim Hockey: Officially Licensed Product of the NHLPA!

Image

We are totally psyched! Web Sim Hockey is now an officially licensed product of the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA). How awesome is that?

What does this mean? Web Sim Hockey is the only online simulated hockey game in the world (you read correctly—the world!) available under the NHLPA license.

What does this mean for our fan base and GMs? Under the agreement, we will be able to use the images of all NHL players as well as other images from the NHL to beef up our game’s visuals even more!

Being licensed with the NHLPA is proof of our short, mid- and long-term commitment to developing the highest quality simulated hockey game available on the market.

Stay tuned this fall! Web Sim Hockey 2.0, with an entirely revamped look and new features, is on its way!

That's huge news! Good job. I don't know how strict you guys are with this type of thing, but it'd be interesting to hear how your numbers are affected by this. I know that's one of the hot topics with new EHMs - is official licensing really worth it...

You understand that I can't divulge the exact numbers, but they are affected considerabely to be sure, but we feel it is worth it! We are hoping to grow our English user base because it is still an unknown game to most of the people. We believe that this association will help us accomplish that goal, but not that alone; it's part of a bigger picture where we are making decisions towards bringing the game to a new level.

Future will tell how things turn out but we are confident because we have worked very hard on our version 2.0 and it will completely change the way our game is played, to make it easier, more user-friendly than ever, with a big focus also on the community and GM career feature (GMs will have attributes that will change everyday, among other things).

Thanks for the good words!

Hi everyone!

We are getting closer and closer to the release date of WSH 2.0, still on track to be released some time in October.

Here's a half-page advertisement in this year's McKeen's Hockey Poolbook. If you don't know McKeen's, they are truly the best at scouting NHL players with detailed information on most of the players, whether they are veterans, rookies or prospects.

Another screenshot! This time around, we're very happy to unveil the new GM Page.

You will get lots of new information in that page about every GM of the community, including his experience, reputation, GM attributes, leagues he plays in, badges, career statistics and more!

This is a huge addition to our game as it will put a face on every GM out there and they will be able to personalize their page as well, just like I did with that picture on the preview.

Upon the implementation of WSH 2.0, every GM will start their career fresh at 0, no matter how long you've been playing the game. From that point on, we will gather as many statistics as possible about every GM career in the community.

Hi! Here's a copy of an update we sent to everyone in our community.

Image

Hello all,

We are almost there! Right now, we are aiming to launch version 2.0 of Web Sim Hockey at the end of October. Just one month left!

So that you are ready for the launch, please be sure to read the following important details.

GM Attributes

As you probably already know, all GMs now have attributes that will be updated each simulation day of each of your leagues.

The four attributes displayed on your GM page are the averages of all your seasons and leagues combined. You can also view the details of your attributes per season and per league.

ATTRIBUTES

HOCKEY: This is the evaluation of your performance on the ice as it relates to the objective the owner gave you at the beginning of the season. Your objective will be proportional to the strength of your team, your past results, and the popularity of your home city. Your objective will include: the number of points you have accumulated during the regular season and what you have to achieve during the playoffs.
FINANCE: This is the evaluation of how well you are doing financially as it relates to the objective the owner gave you at the beginning of the season. Your objective will be proportional to the potential your team has to generate profits. Your objective will take into account the market you are in, your players, your past results, and other factors. The team’s owner will require that you generate $XM in profits.

ASSIDUITY: This is the evaluation of how much you generally participate in the league. Several factors are taken into consideration, such as readings, evaluating and compensating articles, offers to make trades that remain unanswered, invalid alignments, etc..

SOCIAL: This is the evaluation of how much you are socially involved in the community. Several factors are taken into consideration, such as the number of friends you have, how many news articles you create, the comments added to the news feed, messages posted on the forum, etc.

AVERAGE: This is the overall average of the four attributes.

STATUS

REPUTATION: Reputation points will be given to you depending on your achievements throughout your seasons. But be careful! Points can be removed if your behaviour is not exemplary (causing multiple resignations, votes to have you ejected from the league, etc.). As a default, all GMs will have the status Unknown, which will evolve over time. Who will be the first to achieve a stellar reputation? Game on!

EXPERIENCE: Your experience is cumulative and is directly linked to the number of games played when you are GM of a team. The higher the responsibilities you have, the more experience you can accumulate (commissioner, trade committee, etc.). Certain steps, such as the entry draft, will help you to accumulate experience points and ultimately improve your status within the community. By default, all GMs start their careers as Pre-novice Coach. Don’t worry! You’ll climb the ranks quickly—and eventually, you could reach the status of Builder of the National Hockey League!
A new page, Team Owner, will allow you to view your hockey and financial attributes as they compare with the objectives the owner has set. This page will also include any financial restrictions for your team, if any.

When are objectives set by the owner?

Depending on if your league is new or not, the owner sets the objectives at a different step and according to different criteria.

New league: Objectives are set after the city draft, just before the players entry drafts. For the first season, your objectives will be very reasonable, as there will be slight differences depending upon the market a team is playing in.

The following seasons: For the following seasons, your objectives will be set during the post-season draft. They will be primarily based on the strength of your team and your performance during the prior season.
*IMPORTANT: If your new league has already started its player entry draft or if your existing league has started its post-season draft, it will be too late to calculate your hockey and financial attributes for this league only. In this case, objectives will be given to you for the following seasons and these attributes will be calculated at that time.

GM career statistics

GM career statistics are now calculated! Your stats for each season and for each league will be saved. You can view them via your GM page. However, because these statistics were, until now, always a direct link with a team and not the GM, all statistics will start off at zero for everybody. They will be cumulated as soon as you start to play games with your teams.
Web Sim Cups won in the past

Good news! Although past GM statistics cannot be saved, we are able to associates the Cup Winners with the GMs who won it! So rest assured, if you won a Cup before, it will be showing at your GM page.

Teams under league control and GM attributes

A GM’s hockey and finance attributes, statistics, and certain badges (accomplishments) will not be calculated for the current season if a team is taken from the league control. However, they will be activated for the following season.

This gives all GMs the equal opportunity to achieve good hockey and financial results, regardless of the strength of their team.

Don’t forget other new and exciting features in version 2.0!!

Version 2.0 is jammed-packed with new features, such as the news feed, messaging system and chat, GM rankings, GM profile page, and much MUCH more!

Our new partner (get this!), the NHL Players’ Association, are allowing us to you the images of their players in several areas on our web site. This will greatly improve the overall authenticity—and edginess—of the game.

Version 2.0 launch date

As of now, we cannot announce a specific launch date for version 2.0 of Web Sim Hockey. However, we are very confident to be able to launch before the end of October. Want to get a sneak peek of what the new version looks like? Check it out here: http://www.facebook.com/websimhockey.en!

Are you ready? We Are!

What if the season had been played? History will be Simulated

We will simulate the entire NHL season. This initiative comes from a partnership with TVA Sports TV station here in Quebec, Canada, during the show "Le Match".

Every day, at around 8pm, every games of the 2012-13 NHL schedule will be simulated.

-Pre-game
-Full boxscores
-Standings
-Statistics

We will provide as much information as possible, and realism is very important for us as well.

In these hard times for an NHL fan, we thought we would provide at least some source of hockey stats, even if it's virtual.

Enjoy!
