Now up to year 2035 using 4.1b with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Have minimized trades, and been able to win 5 cups over the 20+ year period. Biggest challenge is getting players to sign long-term deals...I know this has come up in other forums. Going to keep this universe going until the updated rosters come out later in the year, after July 1st or in the fall, and will keep you posted on the progress.
BTW, why the heck do the
Charlotte Checkers seem to win so much in the AHL??
Maybe they are the first team to get the Kings?
Sorry bad pun, very bad indeed.
My game is in its first season still with the Philadelphia Flyers.
I am around February and pretty much when the new year begins I start to focus on resigning the people I want to continue with.
In this case pretty much everyone on the roster is coming back for a second term bar a few failed prospects that have no future with my team, but even then I try to trade them around.
My toughest choices are the extensions of Carle and Coburn, both are earning 3+ and I am trying to haggle my backsides off to get them to at least sign something which doesn't have a wage bump.
I know that those two are possibly my future defensive core together with Meszaros but my financial maneuvre room is at a minimum and I am not sure if I can stay under the cap with them on the team. Timonen and Pronger are getting there with age, but they have made themselves undisputed 1st line defenders with their experience and ability...
On offense I have decided to resign Jagr for another season, he wouldn't accept a lower wage but I did manage to deny his wanted 600K hike and have him earn the same next year.
The GM inside me tells me to drop Jagr due to his advanced age, but he is one of the few true goal scorers on my team and he is 12th goalscoring this season, so I don't want to get rid of him without at least getting a potential scorer back into the team.
Naturally I resigned van Riemsdyk and Voracek because they are already the number one guys on their respective positions and having them leave without any compensation would be foolish to say the least.
With so much guys having to sign extensions and a lot of them wanting more money, it's gonna be tough to stay under the cap for season 2... But even if that happens, I think I can always trade away some huge earners because I got plenty of draft picks and also plenty of talent...
Now on to the actual league side of things, Right now with 53 games played I am sitting on top of the Eastern Conference with 76 points (34W, 11L, 8O/SL) I am also second overall on PP with a 20% conversion rate, second only to the Caps.
Voracek and Jagr are my best scorers with 33 and 29 goals respectively, they really tug along our sometimes lacking offense and it's good to see Voracek being so prolific on offense at his 22 years of age.
Hartnell and Briere lead the assisting with 45 and 41 assists, and Hartnell is an assist machine, when he isn't helping on defense he is helping distribute the puck.
And on the rookie side of things Sean Couturier is well on his way to win Rookie of the Year honours for this season and even though he lacks scoring ability (7 in 48) he is assisting very well with 21 in 48 games from the third line. I am also having him retrain to both Left Wing and Right Wing, it should help him get on a higer line because with Giroux and Briere on the first and second line there isn't much chance for him to break through that ceiling. And I also like to have talented forwards become effective on all three positions if I can help it, i love having the ability to shuffle players around without having them suffer much performance wise.
And that is pretty much everything I got to say right now, below I will post my current Flyers lineups.
