No real news since the announcement of the release date (late December / early January). No screenshots, etc have been released to date.

That's pretty odd, 2 months short of the release date and no screenshots yet?! Ah well, back to 1985...

Re: OOTP Developing a Hockey Sim: Franchise Hockey Manager
Yeah i'm hoping it's coming soon. Seems people are getting anxious. Guess they are too hard at work trying to get it finished, i'm fine with that.

Franchise Hockey Mgr - Progress is proceeding apace. No update on a release date, unfortunately. Stay tuned.

Re: OOTP Developing a Hockey Sim: Franchise Hockey Manager
I don't think it's worth getting anxious about. I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. However, it would be nice if those posts on Twitter could be posted on the forums too. I suspect more people follow the forums than the Twitter feed.dave1927p wrote:Yeah i'm hoping it's coming soon. Seems people are getting anxious. Re: OOTP Developing a Hockey Sim: Franchise Hockey Manager
like you mentioned on the FHM forum, i wouldn't be hurt if they delayed it a year. Your point about international play was right on the money along with the game probably more polished and deep with an extra year. Would be costly shortterm for that to happen and probably something that OOTP couldn't afford, but would pay off more in the long run. But yeah, just because there's no news doesn't make me read into any deeper. Just shows that they are busy at work and i'm fine with that.

Re: OOTP Developing a Hockey Sim: Franchise Hockey Manager
I'm actually gonna go with the contrary, and say that they'd be better off releasing it sooner. Especially in these first stages, I think it's important that they get the game into the hands of their future audience, and get as much feedback and direction as possible. That way, they can get the game going on the right track from the very beginning, rather than spending years developing and polishing what they thought everyone would like, only to release it and find out that it's not quite what people wanted.

Re: OOTP Developing a Hockey Sim: Franchise Hockey Manager
Without giving anything away, there is a lot of discussion behind closed doors between the beta testers and devs. The devs are very much interested in hearing our views and making the game something that is relevant to the community in general (although you'll never please everybody, of course). It's a blast to be involved with the development - the devs really have let us shape the game. But of course, it will still be OOTP at heart - as the devs have said before.

Re: OOTP Developing a Hockey Sim: Franchise Hockey Manager
archi, that's great to hear! I just hope they are reading us regular folks requests and input too
stinson, you make an interesting point. Either way, +/- 1 year to create a successful simulation from scratch is a ton of work and quite the task for them to take on. But if anyone can pull it off, its the ootp team (at least for our sakes i hope so)
My biggest fear is that they abandon the game after the first version. It doesn't sound like it now but it's a tough market. They sound very commited but somtimes things can change rather fast. If they took that extra year it would be alittle more feature rich while we wait for another brave soul to take on the challenge. (Sorry, i'm being very pessimistic today)

I thought it was obvious given that I'm one of the game's researchers!MWE wrote:They announced the feature list today for the game

You will probably be the only two to play in this league.

Re: OOTP Developing a Hockey Sim: Franchise Hockey Manager
I might play in that league. For two reasons:
1. I like table hockey, and that is all the players are good for.
2. I could skate with those guys, so I could realistically create myself in the game.

One of the big things that was announced publicly very early on is how nothing is hard-coded (unlike EHM). I have to say it really is as good as it sounds in that respect - there's a lot of flexibility and potential there. For example, I have been able to set up the British leagues exactly as I wanted in terms of structure and basic rules. Very neat indeed.

This is exactly what Bissonnette thought when he moved over here recently... And he was exactly right!batdad wrote:I might play in that league. For two reasons:

Make that 3 to be playing EIHL! It's the lowest possible league (for now) to start in on the game so my journey will probably begin there! Edinburgh will finally win something! (Hopefully!)MWE wrote:you're probably rightphilou21 wrote:You will probably be the only two to play in this league.

Will you be able to add young players for future drafts, like you can in EHM? I'm really looking forward to this game!
Oh, and another question: Are there hidden stats?

Re: OOTP Developing a Hockey Sim: Franchise Hockey Manager
Do you mean in relation to the historic mode? In that case, yes you can add young players to the historic mode to appear in the draft.
In relation to attributes, there are some hidden ones.

I mean if I add, for example, Elias Lindholm and Seth Jones, will they appear in the 2013 draft? Good to hear there's hidden attributes, though.
